I liked the flow of each story, and the variation of personalities. Though each story portrayed the life of different characters, there was still a connection. While the entire purpose of this series was to explain the "Diamond Dust" and its legend, I felt that it didn't play such a significant role. The events that took place could have pursued without this element. Still, it gave an inspiring and mystical touch.
Kita-he started out with very unlikeable characters. Their behaviour, actions, even reactions were irritating or outlandish. Luckily, the other half gave interesting, even charming characters. I really felt attracted to Suomi, she's probably the only character worth mentioning.
As for animation, it was relatively smooth. The art, however, was problematic. You see some decline in quality here in some scenes. Also, this anime likes to rush you with queer camera angles - these camera angles were quick and abrupt... don't know what impression they wanted to give. The character designs are cute, and they are coloured in beautifully, however, most of them weren't too photogenic.
The background music was the same throughout the entire series. A good song nontheless, its universality for every type of atmosphere (happy, sad) was rousing. As for the OP and ED, I really liked them. Probably wouldn't like them on its own, but since the video for the OP was really fun, it gave good energy. The ED song is really emotive, and memorable, something that gave a great feel at the end of each story. The ED song "Aitai" just may be my favourite aspect of this anime.
Even with drama, the feeling you get from this anime is quite soothing and calm. You won't experience extreme emotions with Kita-he ~Diamond Dust Drops~, but I do think it will give you warmth because it's quite enjoyable. | |
