I wasn't looking forward to watching Blue Submarine No. 6, but as the story became more exposed, things became much more engaging, I was impressed. This was a very thought-provoking title, there was a lot of aspiring messages. The main topics I thought about were ethics and humanity.
Even with a small cast of characters, there wasn't much depth put into each one. You know little history and thus have little idea of the reason behind each action. Every character was somewhat interesting, they all managed to input extreme emotions in these four OVAs. Mutio is one of the cutest characters, I'll always remember her.
The music was something different. The pieces were jazzy... smooth, not a style that is used in a lot of Science-fiction anime. I wasn't a fan of the music.
Overall, Blue Submarine was impressive in the visuals, execution of the story, and the messages brought up. The 3D animation looked very real, and the 2D was attractive. This production was entertaining to follow, but the ending left much to be asked. | |
