Definitely good to indulge in a slice-of-life anime once in a while. Watching Binchou-tan and her friends definitely gave me warmth. The events are nowhere near complex, they're even considered a bit slow, but I feel that all this artistry, the pacing, and the colours were done in a way to make the watcher feel relaxed. Binchou-tan is a breath-easy, soothing type of anime.
While this is heavily slice-of-life, it is not composed of current "normal" life. You'll see Binchou and her friends interacting with furry animals that are even bigger than they are. There's a 'bus stop' that Binchou frequently uses where birds are used as transportation. There's lots of neat features that are different from the real world, that you wouldn't even fantasize about. I'm sure this factor is what kept my interest all the way through.
What I loved most is probably the background art work. A "serene" feel was deply embeded by using an array of lush and rich colours for the backdrops. I especially liked the forest and greenery within Binchou's homequarters.
There's no main plot here; this anime is about Binchou living her life in the mountains and interacting with newly formulated friends. The cast of characters were as colourful as the backdrops, each character was full of energy and very likeable.
This anime is not for everyone though; while it was really enjoyable for me since it was so relaxing, I'm sure there are many that will avert from the art style. Binchou-tan is all-around cute. "Too cute", as some may complain. This is more for someone like Jsy3k, lol. | |
