I felt that Bokurano had a slow start, at least a bumpy start to keep me keen on continuing the series, but once the main shocker plots unraveled, Bokurano became an incredible series.
The one thing that stands out for this series is that they give you mouth-gapingly tragic surprises. Bokurano is tragedy. Though it does give a lot of drama, I was enticed into it. In addition, when you think you know the plotline, or things are in well-stabilized, they hit you with another shocker! It was exciting.
The opening gave a nice feel. I really like Chiaki Ishikawa. She also sings a lovely song for You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle. The first ending theme seems unsuitable though for what Bokurano is about. ED2 gave a more fitting mood. The artwork was neat. I like how the characters were portrayed "naturally". That is, they weren't completely bishie, or cartoony. The tone was really, really nice. How they used the sunlight and lasers, etc. was great to look at.
I think Bokurano had one of the best well-rounded endings I've ever seen. After finishing up this anime, it gave off a "complete" feel, which is very rare in any anime series. Also, I was impressed that they provided all the answers to the questions I had in my mind throughout the anime. The character work was amazing in this anime. The emotions of greed, lust, and revenge; they were all portrayed here. These extreme expression of emotions (wow, alliteration) are not seen in a lot of anime. It was quite dark.
The ending was very well-done in the character aspect, but left much more lingering thoughts for the science-fiction side. All in all though, Bokurano was a superb production. | |
