Piano no Mori has plenty of refreshing ambience. I blame it all on the presentation of colours, art, and music - and I love it! This movie played smoothly and executed an array of interesting character relationships. Actually, the general feel of this film reminded me of Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (Girl Who Leapt Through Time) which was an excellent movie. Piano no Mori didn't feature the epic phenomenon of time travel, but being solely on classical music is the next thing in line.
Characters were adorable. I took a particular liking to Kai, even when he was so violent. I oftentimes misjudged Kai as a girl though due to character design and voice work.
There wasn't many funny moments. In attempt to put in comic bits, it didn't do too well. It actually seemed forced. The direction was quite typical for being an anime about concours. I really couldn't tell the difference between the skills of all the contestants. I enjoyed listening to pieces from Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn immensely though.
Animation. Beautifully done. Beautiful. The fluid movements of the fingers playing on the piano was superb. I actually couldn't tell if it was all from cels or computer animation. Things really blended well. Loved the colours too. There was a lot of green, which I love xD. Overall, Piano no Mori had a lot to give for inspiration. It was all about the atmosphere in my opinion. | |
