An awesome series that I can recommend to many. It's refreshing, funny, serene, passionate, deep, did I mention funny? Because it's really funny. I wish I can emphasize on this more without sounding like an obsessive freak. But Clannad TV is laugh out loud funny. Why? Its humour, from what I've experienced at least, is not seen anywhere else. I don't think I'd be able to describe it either. Tomoya (the main guy) sets the stage for Clannad's comedy expertise... with the help of Sunohara.
This anime had a wonderful cast of characters. There are plenty of characters to like. I've consumed anime where there were a large number of characters where I didn't like ANY OF THEM. However, with an anime like Clannad, I can't choose! But if you've been paying attention to what I've said before, I'd have to choose Tomoyo - the ass kicking, street fighter! Tomoyo is, by far, the main instigator of getting people to watch Clannad. And she has succeeded.
There were some areas that I wasn't too keen about. I liked Ibuki Fuko and her story, however, I didn't like her random appearances too much. I found it quite useless. Also, Sunohara would sometimes give these extreme "Higurasahi"-like facial expressions. It made things funny, but it also made things somewhat scary... Lastly, I felt that Tomoya's relationship with his father was overly dramatized. I didn't sympathize with him at all. In fact, the story in Clannad was quite poor.
Clannad TV is saturated in MOE content. This can be annoying if overdone. Hell, maybe it was carried far in this anime, but I personally felt that it was charming. The girls were extremely cute! Very cute. Not only physically, but their behaviour and personalities urge the word "kawaii".
This anime gave a lot. Lovely songs played throughout. The OP song has a lovely twinkle melody, and the video sequence is as good (and quite similar) to Air TV's OP. The ED song came to a surprise! It was very childish, but it gave a refreshing feel, and I came to like it a lot. The art, as you can see, is superb (loved the colours and tone). Animation-wise: superb. As suspected of Key. Clannad was a lovely experience. | |
