Gorgeous. Windaria gave me a huge surprise when I took a peak at the production year. I even carried myself to check other resources incase the year was typed in wrong. 1986? You gotta be kidding me. This must have wowed everyone in sight. There were plenty of picturesque moments. They used greenery and lights very well, and characters looked great, especially Marin. The darker scenes weren't so great, I mean, blood would flash this crimson red instead of an ucky purple - but hey, I think the graphics were mind-boggling extravagant for its time. I'm sure many will still find many scenes as pretty.
And... that's pretty much it. Graphics.
Hey, it wasn't a horrible movie. Windaria just didn't do anything from me. I found myself thinking "what do people learn from this?". Usually there would be some sort of message or moral for the main theme of the story, but I couldn't find it. Well, I do have some ideas, but that would mean they didn't do too well with emphasizing on it.
The events were interesting at best, boring at worst. They also surprised me with a small clip of nudity. Nothing too exciting there folks, but it was still a surprise.
I don't think the production of Windaria spent much thinking for the character direction. I couldn't find any to empathize with nor did I find any to like - at all. I felt very indifferent to all of the characters. The actions of the characters certainly progress the story, but the events presented were not good choices. I became very confused. It's not that the story was complex, I simply found most characteristics questionable. In fact, a lot of the decisions the main characters acted out on were very questionable. I didn't see any background or reason for them to go through with that.
The story is quite cliche and does not engage you at all. I bet I would enjoy this more if it was more character-driven. I guess I shouldn't be too harsh considering the year. I couldn't find myself enjoying Windaria though. | |
