Be prepared for some non-sensical fun.
Penguin Musume Heart was very random, and very short. It's perfect for non-committed entertainment. There's no real story set up. The main thing you'll receive from watching this is "Funny". You get some fanservice and implicit yuri scenes, but that's not the building block of this. Most of the time it's a poor excuse of action but with hilarious personality. The characters are indeed wacky. No real depth in any, but this is all for fun - right?
I don't remember much about the music. The OP was fun. It changed for every episode and featured some neat animation. The ED was a tad boring whereas the song wasn't so "great". But the way they present the credits was awesome. The credits would "shoot" at the character like a side scrolling airplane video game. Am I even making sense here?
A little disappointed with the lack of referencing other anime. They have trickeries in their episode titles! You would see episode names such as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" or "Poor Sisters Story" or even "Mai Otome". I have gallons of fun when there is a comedic reference to other anime or manga. That's why I enjoyed Lucky Star so much. Penguin Musume Heart referenced otaku culture more than listing off anime titles.
There are some ridiculous humour though. Plenty of enjoyable scenes. I remmer one where there would be an enemy that slams sleeping gas to capture her targets, but she ends up falling asleep! (lol). There was also a skirt-flipping enemy. The dilemma is, if the enemy flips all the girls' skirts before they grab the key, then they are imprisoned forever... how silly! (But how fun!).
Anyway, lots of giggles from this show. Every episode was surprisingly short - where you wonder what the hell you "got" from it - but it was fun everytime. | |
