The quality of Kage Kara Mamoru wasn't very good. The art was only so-so while the story had plenty of room for improvement. This anime was entertaining at best. Mindlessly so.
The characters are quite typical but very colourful. Their actions were very predictable and at some points annoying. Character design might as well be the worst factor in Kage Kara Mamoru. You have to remember, this is some freakish harem where everyone is oblivious. Nearly all the characters were unlikeable. Their personalities seem pretty phony and forceful. The only one I warmed up to was Tsubaki, who I also think is gorgeous.
It was difficult to like the main characters. Yuna and Mamoru associated with incredibly annoying voices. The voice actors didn't do a bad job, they just didn't perform any attractive sounding voices. Tsubaki had a soothing voice though. Maybe that's why I liked her (and only her).
The next poor feature this anime has to offer is its story. They could have thought of a better story. Yes, they would still be able to incorporate the ninja madness. Oh gosh, the story line. It was some baloney premise of continuing a 400 year custom of "protecting your neighbour". That's it! The comedy wasn't really to my liking. The humour was very "slapstick" with an abundance of sweat drops. Yuna would oftentimes be stuck in the most offhand situations. She's a clumsy, annoying, fool - that girl. If everyone knew of her, I bet she would win the "most annoying girl" survey.
The music was good and I found myself liking the BGM. The OP and ED songs are not something I would recommend, but they aren't horrid. They're somewhat catchy and typical. The BGM was quite memorable. There would be small sections of olden day "ninja" scenes where they would play the complementary instruments of that era. This reminded me of one of my favourite games Okami, so I was tickled by that :)
Not on my recommendations list for sure. The winning thing that this has is the entertainment value. There were some fun areas, but mostly it was just bizarre and annoying. | |
