Unbelievable Series!!! Set in the early 1900's, it blends in a hint of history with folklore fantasy to make an interesting series. The characters are well developed with a unique personality. The animation was good, the music and soundtrack was great and the opening/endings were some of the best I've ever heard.
Story 9/10:
The story of this series revolves around a series of adventures that the same cast encounters, be they mythological, mental or personal. Beautifully brought to life with creativity that anyone can enjoy.
Music 10/10:
A perfect score on the music department, great soundtrack and the opening and ending songs just make me want to say INCROYABLE.
Characters 9/10:
The characters each have their own history that somewhat mysterious but each has a unique essence that makes you love them a lot. you'd fall in love with these guys and you'll find it hard to stop watching. This anime is highly recommended to anyone who loves anime, you won't regret watching this series.

This series was just OK. The art was disappointing. The OP and ED were nothing special. Most episodes were quite enjoyable, but the ones that carried the series' main plot was too clumsy. And the characters were just. there.
Art - Perhaps it was because of the subs I downloaded (Shinsen-Spoon) but the colours were really dull and flat. The single colour washes were horrible and cheap. Many times the characters looked like they had pinced noses, which was really awkward. Haruka had an uncool mullet; Kantarou had horrible colour co-ord with his red eyes and light teal hair; Suzu's curls were so tight and horrid and her outfit so attempting-to-be-cute-but-fails that it made me hate her screentime; and Sugino was close to being hot, but had eyes that were too big, and ended up looking cute.
Music - OP started out well, however the synthetic voice's repeats of 'Secret Woooorld' totally threw me off the song. The ED was so boring I only listened through it once. The BGM was quite nice at times - specifically, the clip that was playing when Haruka was getting sealed. However, some seemed completely unfitting, such as the Las Vegas-esque song that came on when Kantarou did his exorcism chanting - it's a serious situation, people.
Characters - Haruka was flat and boring. Sugino got annoying after the 50th 'What did you do with Moo-chan!?' Yuzu's crush on Haruka was emphasized too much - annoying yet again, as she actually expected him to return her feelings or something, stupid little kid (it also gave her more screentime, which I winced at because of her horrible character design). Kantarou was pretty nice - innocent and naive in superficial appearance, but sly and sharp underneath. Youko, Moo-chan and Rosalie were really cute.
Plot - Most of the short plots were enjoyable, especially the one about the twin miko sisters, it had a wonderful ending. There were some bits that they shouldn't have put in, such as the clip of that strange aramada in Moo-chan's stomach making her look evil, and Edwards' 'that'. Those things were never resolved/just ignored, which made them unnecessary. The main plot isn't very interesting, and the villains weren't very imposing, as they were developed so little.
The parts of affection between Kantarou and Haruka seemed really forced; Kantarou focuses on other things for most of the series, and the pow! 'I'd die for you!'
So this series was just 'okay'. Watch it if you have time.

Ok!! I admit it!! I'm a sucker for bishonens!! Well... that's what hooked me to this anime 'till the last episode. It's an ok anime with an ending leaving many to questions whether there will be another season of it. I doubt that because it does not seem to be popular... Back to the main point, plot-wise, Tactics has a very predictable plot but if you don't think much about it then you'll enjoy Tactics. Everything about this anime is beautiful (except for its cliche plot...) it has wonderful music, great art, innocent-soft shonen-ai hints, and wonderful character designs!!
I just stumbled upon the character design of the manga and thought "omg!! what did they do to my lovely Haruka and Kantarou??!! The mangaka might as well kill them!!" the anime is soooooo much better than its manga counterpart!! Tactics is certainly one of those rare cases where the anime happens to be better than the manga.
Give this anime a try. Its opening and ending songs and clip will certainly woo you.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Tactics. It was a mix of comedy, the supernatural and even a hint (and I mean a very slight hint!) of shounen-ai.
Animation: The animation was very appealing. The backgrounds looked good and although there is some CGI, it's minimal and actually blends well with the animated sections it was used with! The ghosts and demons were done really well, as were the impressive scenes of buildings burning down, but for me the high point of this anime is the character design! Kantarou is so cute and the details of his costumes were wonderful and his spell casting looked so good. Haruka and Sugino looked fantastic and for once their wings looked impressive!
The cute characters were really cute and for a change the older people weren't portrayed as being old and ugly *lol*
Sound: The op theme is really nice and fits so well with the feel of what you're about to watch, as did the ed theme and the BGM. The voice acting was way above par! Takahiro Sakurai gave Haruka that sexy edge to his voice, but all the time you knew his was an Oni. Kouki Miyata portrayed Kantarou wonderfully, he has that ability to make a character sound really cute but at the same time to make them believable as someone serious. There's really very little you can find fault with here at all, but the one thing that did drive me nuts was that awful stringed instrument played by Ibaragi. It sounded more like an Indian Sitar than an ancient Japanese intrument, but it was so horrible and grating - how on earth could people go and listening to someone playing one of those things in a concert - blech!
Storyline: As with a lot of anime of this length, the story starts off pretty light hearted and at times, extremely funny. Kantarou has had a dream since he was a little boy; he wants to meet the strongest demon of all and that demon is sealed in a rock, so when he's older and strong enough as a spiritualist (Omnyouji) he releases said demon and names him Haruka.
At the start, the story revolves around Kantarou's work as a folklorist and the many amusing moments with his editor, plus his work as an exorcist and with the help of Haruka, the mysteries are resolved very quickly.
There are some wonderfully funny scenes when we meet Sugino and his "wife" Moo-chan. (I could never quite work out why someone as gorgeous as Sugino was in love with Moo-chan - she reminded me of a Pokemon *lol*).
Around the halfway mark, it becomes a lot more serious and some very evil characters are introduced (Ibaragi & Minamoto) and the plot turns around completely; the monsters and demons get stronger and everyone's friendship is put on the line.
The ending was wonderful. It wasn't contrived or cliche and left me feeling really good (and at one point I shed a few tears).
It was engrossing from beginning to end and there was plenty of suspense; when you didn't know which way things would go.
Although some people have mentioned the shounen-ai aspect of the show (including myself), it's more a case of the love between two very close friends, rather than romance between 2 guys!
Characters: The characters definitely deserve 10/10, they're all so wonderful ^_^
From the start you feel a deep empathy with Kantarou. He's such a sweet and trusting guy, but because of his talent as an omnyouji, he's always been very lonely, which is why his relationship with Haruka is so wonderful. He has such a pure heart, although a little money orientated at times and extremely lazy when it comes to his book deadlines (the interaction between him and his editor reminded me a lot of Shigure from Fruits Basket!). I absolutely adored Kantarou ^_^
Haruka is wonderful. Unsealed and renamed and lacking all memories of his past, he's influenced greatly by the things and people around him and he almost seems naive and very innocent (the scene where he realises that girls find him attractive and he uses that to get free cakes was very funny). Without his memories as a demon, he finds feelings he never knew he had and makes friends, which is why I was saddened at the change in him when he regains a little of his memories. He's very sexy, but I'll take Kantarou anyday ^_^
Youko is cute. She's another demon who has been tamed by Kantarou, she's very loyal and I was moved to tears in the episode where she falls in love. As a little fox, she's even cuter ^_^
Normally little girls in anime irritate me, but neither Suzu or Rosalie did. Suzu was sweet, but even her infatuation with Haruka didn't annoy me, as it wasn't in your face, it was subtle! Rosalie reminded me of Shinku the doll from Rozen Maiden, not just in how she was dressed, but her manner was the same!
I personally though Sugino was sexier than Haruka! - long black hair and white wings. He's extremely funny and while he is serious at times, he's used more for lightening the mood and when he turns up at Kantarou's in a jealous rage over Moo-chan, you can't help but roll around laughing. I could never figure out why he lived in a tree house though *lol*
Talking of Moo-chan - she's so cute ^_^ Like a greeny blue Pokemon and Sugino's wife! I suspect she was something a little more than she appears.
You really can't fault any of the characters, even the evil ones. Admittedly, Minamoto's motives do seem a little egotistical, but then most bad guys in anime are on some kind of ego trip! and as always, his followers will do anything for him, which is why I didn't hate Ibaragi *lol*
Even the characters from the side stories were wonderful, they had individuality as well, which is pretty rare for someone you only meet for 15 minutes in one episode!
I was pretty upset when I found out ADV had unlicensed Tactics, as I was looking forward to watching it dubbed into English ^_^ but the fansubs I watched made up for my disappointment!
It's definitely something I would watch again, mostly for the wonderful characters, but also for the intriguing storyline. It's definitely a must watch for fans of the supernatural and also for fans of bishounen with a hint of shounen-ai.

I'm pretty surprised Tactics doesn't have a higher rating but people are entitled to their own opinions.
Tactics exceeded all my expectations! The art, the detail, the characters, they were pretty damn amazing. I can't say all of the characters were extremely well developed because while, Kantarou and Haruka are the main characters, we know almost zilch about their personalities. Kantarou is the protagonist that looks innocent, which makes it amazingly easy for him to lie to you. He's not manipulative but he's a damn good liar.
The plot wasn't predictable at all. Although I did notice they copied a few things. Like the hand washing thing out of Macbeth, and the girl from the Ring crawling around. I found the script or whatever to be extremely good. For starters, there was development with the story (a plot, what a shocker!) and they had such extreme use of symbolism. It was somewhat of a tear jerker if you're an emotional person too.
As for the music, I found Secret World to be a beautiful song. The more I listened to it, the more I loved it.
The series is licensed but when they release the DVDs I would so buy it! It's like my second favorite series.

the problem with this anime was not enough actions. it doesnt get the viewers to be "glued" onto this anime. It gets boring after awhile. The characters, however are well thought out, especailly the orge eating monster Haruka. He is a very kewl character, yet evil. The anime portrays sadness, caringness, love and hatred. This anime is alright but not one of the best anime, I've seen. The first few episodes was alright, but it gradually looses the tension. 7/10 for me.

It is in my honest opinion that Tactics went on for too long. 25 episodes with over 75% filler is not something I look forward to no matter how spetacular the artwork maybe. I must admit tho, the first few filler episodes were interesting and funny, but it began to become repetitive and I worried that this anime was just going to be pointless; however, midway through the anime, you get a glimpse at the story and the anime finishes it up nicely in the last 5 or 6 episodes. So my advice is that if you just want to watch the anime for the story line, watch the first episode, some episode in the middle (I forgot which) and the last 5, otherwise watch the whole thing and enjoy it for what it is.

This anime started very nice. The animations caught my eye from the beginning, even though later in the series I noticed them less there where still some very nice looking scenes. The characters have interesting sides but for most of the anime they do not seem to develop too much. Music is not this anime's strongest point but it is not unpleasant during the series and fits the series pretty good.
Storywise the anime began very nice but after a few episodes the story gets repetitive. The fights where the main character and his friends fight off demons were pretty short and lacked much action. Luckily the story starts to progress as the anime nears its end and gets interesting again.
Overall I liked the beginning and the ending episodes of the anime the best. It is worth watching if you are not seeking an action packed anime. Judging from the last episode, the anime might very well get a sequel.
