Gakuen Alice was an interesting, and for the most part fun show. About a girl who is determined to follow her best friend to an academy. An academy for those with special powers, called Alices. Each of the students has an Alice, and Mikan, in following her friend Hotaru, discovers that she too has a special power.
I mentioned that for the most part, this was a fun show. There is quite a bit of silliness, and humor, that made watching it fun. However there were also some things I didn't like about the plot. These are basically children, who are being removed from their family, friends, and parents. Forbidden to see their parents. This is such an inconceivable situation that its hard to imagine. The love that is received from normal parents is such an integral part of who we turn out to be, preventing that relationship by isolating these children is just ludicrous.
For the most part the story, while silly, was fun. Yet occasionally they would throw in these dark aspects, that felt very jarring to the overall tone of the story. They certainly didn't help move the story along. Additionally, as the story progresses, you discover that some alices, which the children are taught, make them special, disappear as they grow up. Again, this news is jarring to the viewer. The animation and music were forgettable at best. While they didn't necessarily detract from the show, they certainly didn't add to it either.
With all these problems, you might question whether or not this is a good show, or whether its worth watching. To put it simply, while there are elements that are out of place, and aren't enjoyable, the show on the whole was. Mikan is just such a positive character, regardless of what life throws at her, that its hard not to like her, and enjoy seeing her interact with others. The various Alices that the characters have also contribute to the enjoyment of the show.
Overall, I found that despite its problems I enjoyed this show. I can't imagine watching the whole thing again, but overall it was fun to watch at least once. So I do recommend it. Its a fun, and silly show that even still is worth watching, at least once.

This anime was fun to watch! The artwork is not that great but it really didn't matter much to me as the anime was enjoyable and funny to watch.
I liked the relation ship between Mikan and her friend Hotaru but I was a little disappointed by the suggested dark side of the school, the romantic aspect and the few eps. that insinuate that Mikan's mom used to be an Alice student.
At the end of the anime none of that is really explained or given a proper closure.
And I really hated that. Also there's a character that trains Natsume and does secret ops. with him but nothing is explained about this character either.
So these are aspects that makes the ending even more frustrating.
Overall, I enjoyed the anime very much as it is also very addictive to watch.
But I guess I will have to start reading the manga and hope that it'll clear things up a bit.

A great introduction to the manga. Really, that's all the anime is.
I watched this first (like so many others) and was hooked. Despite its childish outlook (I fooled my parents with this one), Gakuen Alice is for teenagers and up. Okay, the manga is. The producers definitely tone down the perversion in terms of Natsume.
No offense to any fans - I love this guy.
GKA will indefinitely capture the attention of those who don't judge the anime by its looks. The story is hilarious at first, gradually filling in the darker elements and it was this blend which kept me watching till the end. Oh, yes and Natsume. He'll have all you fangirls squealing.
Mikan's exaggerated expressions and her affinity for Hotaru, Hotaru's extreme love for money are amongst a few of the things which will kill you. Hotaru-Ruka chase scenes are another. A little bit of acton here and there and a pinch of drama keep the whole thing together.
For those of you who are wondering why I'm giving it a glowing review and a 7/10 will soon find out when they watch the anime beyond 22 episodes. The 'arc' in episodes 23-26 is nothing short of plain disappointing. For one thing, another Reo escapade is dragged in with utter shabbiness. The Mikan-Natsume-Ruka love triangle hasn't been solved. The only thing which the anime really establishes is the fact that Mikan has caught the attention of the bad boys (read: Natsume and Ruka) to the point that they are willing to carry out her indirect demands. That, if you read the manga, is grossly exaggerated.
The animation is clean and good except parts where it gets a bit fuzzy. The opening and ending themes do well to capture the innocence of the anime but they aren't things which you would love to watch over and over.
The only thing I was utterly dissatisfied with was the ending of the anime. If you care to listen to me, watch the anime up to episode 20 (which can be considered a good ending for the anime), and then read the manga.

Another magic-themed anime... who says you can grow tired of them?
I first marked Gakuen Alice as a kiddie show (it is really a kiddie show, mind you) which I only watched out of sheer curiosity. I nearly gave up after the first few episodes (I thought the pace was too slow for my liking, except for a few scenes which I thought was hilarious), but it was interesting enough for me to continue watching it. Surprise, surprise! I ended up enjoying most of the series, even repeating some of the parts I totally liked, and looking for the manga to continue the story.
I rarely give anime high scores, but there are so many reasons to watch Gakuen Alice that I'm giving it a high score to encourage people to watch it. Here are some of my reasons:
1. It is funny. It's not too serious like most anime you see nowadays, plus it makes you feel young again.
2. It's so interesting that you wanna keep watching it for some reason even if your mind keeps on telling you "its a kiddie show".
3. Very minimal brutality, very GP rating! This is a show for everyone, you don't need to hide while watching it since anyone can really watch it and enjoy!
4. Cutesy animation! Very appealing to all kids and those who are "children at heart"!
5. The music really struck me, especially the opening. I have to say I can hear it in my mind even at the moment I am writing this.
All in all, its a really good "kiddie" anime. I'm 21 and I have to admit I enjoyed almost all the time I watched this. Recommended for all, especially people who want to de-stress themselves. A nice pick for people of all ages.

I have to say this is quite an enjoyable anime for some odd reason even though it revolves around elementary students with some very odd and bizarre powers, Heck thats why this series was eye catching!
The opening isn't the best I can tell you that, I was thinking of deleting this series entirely due to that because I thought it was childish looking and thought it was merely a plain old girl go to school series. O was I so wrong...I'm glad I read some reviews and summaries.
The first episode alone will make you want more. Each character is very unique and likable. What I loved about this series was how their true characters slowly unraveled through events and incidents. Another thing I liked about the series was how they explored the world of Alice Academy, its like an entire world within the campus.
Overall. Want something to laugh and giggle at with some emotional touch and also a great story? heck this series is what your lookin' for. There were some parts within the series that made me laugh out loud saying "What the Heck was that!" *I normally don't laugh at all* Tells you something =D

I think this anime is one of the best anime that I’ve watched, so far and I really like it. It is just that I am quite frustrated where Mikan as the protagonist didn't realize how Ruka and Natsume like her but still, overall it is a funny story.
The main reason why I like this anime is because for me, this anime shows us on how an individual that willing to do anything and do her best to achieve her goal. For me this anime teaches us not to easily give up and where there's a will, there's always a way.
This anime also shows us the pain and bad things that happens to Natsume and how he survives through it. In a way we can also say that this anime shows us what life is all about. It is a mixture of pain and happiness. It teaches us that no matter how much we suffers there is always hope for a brighter future.

Silly silly silly. That's the best way to describe Gakuen Alice. From the first episode to the last, the plot is kept zany and completely off-the-wall. There really is no limit to the absurdities as Sakura Mikan goes off on her crazy adventures. Along the way you'll meet all kinds of crazy characters from a 10-story tall baby chick to a mute stuffed bear with an attitude.
Another very interesting facet of this anime is the inclusion of "Alices" which are basically superhuman powers that differ greatly in ability. Each character is gifted with a unique (and often ingenious) power that helps to define them as well as provide more wacky adventures for our protagonist. The powers themself are often quite interesting or wacky and range from creating fire to reading minds to making it rain indoors.
Gakuen Alice is probably the silliest show I've ever seen. There is plenty of wit and humor in every episode which can appeal to just about everyone.
Plot: 10/10
Plot is Gakuen Alice's bread and butter. It's silly. It's fun. It's borderline psychotic. Needless to say, it's awesome.
Art/Animation: 7/10
The animation follows the zany style of the anime. Wild and wacky things are always happening on screen and the animation follows the feel of the anime perfectly. From the waterfall tears to the exaggerated movements, everything feels pretty absurd.
Characters: 8/10
The characters are delightfully simple in design. Each character is characterized by their particular "Alice" and their position/level in the school. Even so, they all have a certain charm and with an entire school of people, there's plenty of mayhem to be had.
Sound/Music: 7/10
The opening song is simple and wacky yet oh so delightful. I found myself listening to it over and over again. The closing song is WAY too slow for my tastes, so I often had to skip it. Other than that, the sound is quite enjoyable, especially the voices. Mikan's character is particularly fun to listen to.
Overall Score: 8/10
I must admit I was very plesantly surprised when I started watching Gakuen Alice. It was nothing like what I had expected but I became fairly hooked on it all the same. It has a charm about it that is hard to put into words. Give it a try and see for yourself! :)

The best word that fits for Gakuen Alice is "fun". I really, truly, ridiculously had LOADS of fun with this anime. The humour is really cute and very funny. I love this anime~
There are a number of flaws that I can point out, but with all due flaws, they are just a drop in the bucket compared to how much I enjoyed this anime. I wish there were more romance aspects. A number of topics and problems arised, and through the end, they weren't brought up again, especially the solutions. For example, not a lot of emphasis was put in Mikan's background even when she's the protagonist. They touched upon it, but the conclusion they gave was nowhere near this topic.
Then again, I watched the last 10 episodes raw so I may have missed some things, haha. That's how much I enjoyed Gakuen Alice, the usually patient me couldn't wait for the releases. It was actually one of those rare anime where I would frown when the commercial clips showed because it indicated the half-way point. "It's already halfway?", I would say.
The timing was a bit flawed as well, each episode was not heavy in content, most episodes were humour-based (which is perfectly okay, because I LOVED it). Lastly, Mikan's character herself; though she's cute, likeable, and possesses the typical "never-give-up" character fit for a protagonist, I wasn't charmed by her reactions and behaviour. She never really did say what I hoped she would.
But like I said before, my level enjoyment outweighed any possible flaw. I loved the humour played out. Hard to name a favourite part, but the adventures with Mr. Bear is notable. Another great thing about Gakuen Alice is watching the supernatural abilities (Alice) they come up with, there are Alice's such as making everyone laugh at your jokes, producing rain, creating spirits, and there are even more silly ones.
Another charming thing is that all characters are very likeable. Each character is truly identifiable and unique. You won't have trouble giving each one a description.
Gakuen Alice is very rewatchable (it's very difficult to simply sneak peaks). I absolutely enjoyed this anime. It's hilariously funny. I do not regret giving this its full score.

Genre = humour
Suitable for all ages
7/10 for the artwork
8.5/10 for the plot
8/10 for the characters
When I first watch this anime, I thought it would be boring because it was unrealistic for a girl of 10 to just run away from home just to be her best friend. But, when The school session started, that's when the momentum begun. It's more of a little girl who speaks out her mind without thinking of it's consequences facing a whole bunch of students who dislikes and looks down on her Alice's ability. The problem here is to have them all approve of her at the first week in school. It's a rather hilarious movie so I suggest you all watch despite the uninteresting beginning.
What I disliked about this movie is Mikan's sticky attitude towards her best friend that made me wonder if there are hints or shoujo ai. The artwork of this anime isn't really fantastic but just fine. Orelse, I would've loved the anime to bits.

Okay, I have to admit that when you read how this anime starts off it's not that appealing. A girl follows her best friend to a school where everyone has super powers or an "Alice." This has exceeded all my expectations.
It's basically a humor, fantasy type of plot and there are really adorable parts to it (which may turn away guy and girl viewers) but it's definetely worth it. Without sacraficing on characterization AND plot, Gakuen Alice is a comedic hit!
The characters are a bunch of ten year old children but with teachers that can manipulate phermones and giant chickens, it's really hard to not laugh out loud just from the sheer stupidity of it all. What's really great about the characters is that they are portrayed at least somewhat accurately of their age groups. Some are angsty/cheerful/indifferent but you get diversity in the real world and the fact that they're children makes them more susceptible to change.
Eh? I'm a bit iffy on the music selection. It's way to cutesy for me, but I guess it's pretty fitting. The subbers are taking their sweet time so only a handful of episodes have been released. It's just that with the download rate being as low as it is, someone needs to spread the word. This is definetely one of the more underrated series out there!
