Negima! isn't very adventurous with its large ensemble of characters. Nor does it ever really do anything that one can say distinguishes this from other series. But it is entertaining and I think that the series does accomplish its objective in being enjoyable.

I enjoyed the constant chemistry between Negi and his students. It's quite interesting to see the harem amassed by Negi yet he never once saw any of them as potential lovers. The fact that he holds a certain level of decency and respect towards his students is also a plus.

Each of the girls in class 2-A is undoubtedly unique and the anime puts in effort to include them all but this fails because of two reasons. The large cast is difficult to keep track of and the size also prevented any really solid story from forming. If they had focused on a few students in the class the way Ken Akamatsu did in the early volumes of the manga then I think it would've been a much tighter and better anime.

The character designs were very faithful and they weren't ugly though I find Mahora is not a very beautiful place. It's not really vibrant and the colors used were rather dull at times. Mahora should be a bustling college town but it felt very empty.

There were many gems that could be found in the anime. The story about Aiyaka Sayo is one such example. I found it to be very well written because it is straight to the point and the dialogues didn't have any awkwardness in them. For an anime that never had a continuous storyline the standalone episodes are quite good.

Hence, 7/10

I kind of enjoyed watching this show after watching the FUNimation licenced DVDs. There is one word of warning though. Stay away from the English dub! The extras were interesting in some of the discs.

Story
I found this amusing and original. Once again, it's another Harem type show with the hero being a 10 year old boy who wises to train to become a wizard whilst holding down a job teaching at a all-girl academy. Plenty of ladies (or shall I say young teenage 13-14 year old girls) are after him. At times it felt like borderline pedophilia, but of course this is where most of the laughs are found in this light-hearted story. It got darker towards the end, but this was more of a refreshing change of pace. It had a pleasant ending too.

Music
A very lively OP that reflected the light-hearted nature and humour of the show. Decent ED too.

Characters
The number of characters was simply vast. Nevertheless, the main characters in the show were explored in a fair amount of depth. I wasn't expecting monumental levels of character development here, but it still piqued my interest.

Animation
The animation was pretty decent with nothing greatly inadequate about it. It's another case of "once you've seen one, you've seen them all." I'd say it's better than average really.

Summary
A pleasantly fun show to watch. I watched some of the episodes in English and I was really put off by Negi's VA. It's much better to listen to in Japanese. There are some better shows out there, but to be honest there are plenty of shows that have fared worse than this. Harem anime fans will enjoy this.

Negima, in my opinion, isn’t just another worthless harem/ecchi anime. It is actually more than that and deeper than a lot of people think. To me, although it’s not perfect, it’s near perfection and almost flawless. This is how I rate it.

Music: 10 – The opening song, the ending, and the background music were really great. They went perfectly with the story and the scenes. They engulfed me and are probably the best part of the anime.

Animation: 7 – Maybe it’s because YouTube had bad quality, or maybe it’s because it’s bad anyways, but the drawing and style weren’t that good. It stayed consistent, which is what I like, and the style is refreshing. Bad since in fast scenes many parts were blurry and not eye-catching.

Characters: 9 – The wide variety of characters (mostly girls) are the strong point of this anime. The major/minor characters really worked together and just made this anime great. I mean come on, 1 boy and 31 girls, who wouldn’t want that?

Story: 7 – The story wasn’t really that great. They could’ve expanded a bit more instead of packing all of the stories into a short 26 episodes.

Overall: 8 – Overall, this anime is pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good. The sequence was well placed and only the timeline of the story was bit off. I loved it and I hope you guys would love it too, not for the ecchi part but look for the more sophisticated and deep parts. And that’s when you’ll realize how good this anime really is.

Negima is almost like Ichigo 100%, which is another anime I like that consists of ecchi-ish and harem-ish stuff. Even though a lot of people out there don’t like this anime and its type, for me, it’s HEAVEN. I think this anime actually teaches a lot of good things about life and deserves more credit than it normally receives. And since is how I rate this anime.

Music: 8 – Probably the best part of this anime and the music is the opening song. I think it’s Happy Material Go? Anyways the background didn’t fit in that well and only the OP and the ending fit this anime.

Plot: 7 – Really wasn’t that interesting but still made my friend down there go up and down. It’s quite original though, a boy 10 years old, with magic powers and teaches at a all girl-school. I didn’t like the ending that much because it wasn’t that believable and degraded the overall work.

Characters: 9 – The wide variety of characters (mostly girls) are the strong point of this anime. The character development and involvement really made this anime spark and come to life when it dulls down. The major and minor character interactions made me fall in love with this anime.

Overall: 7 – The sequence and the stories/plots didn’t fit that well. But that doesn’t mean this sucks completely. Everything went smoothly in my expectation and it almost exceeded my outstanding mark. Too bad it can’t because some elements in this story are just plain crap like everyone else says. But overall it’s a pretty good anime and I suggest it to those people who likes ecchi/harem/MAHOU people out there.

Negima was a very highly anticipating anime but sad to say it doesn’t live up to my expectation. Makes me wonder wouldn’t it have been better if the anime would have follow the great Negima Manga. Well all done is done so we got the anime now but perhaps this series might attract those new to Negima.

Some Background of the series:
Ken Akamatsu Sensei was the famous creator of Love Hina which once owned the anime world like what Naruto and Bleach did. When Sensei ended his 6 months holiday, he came out with Mahou Sensei Negima which is very different compare to sensei’s previous titles which is more into romance and comedy. Negima however is more into magical and actions. Sure! One may think sensei is a copy cat to the famous Harry Potter franchise but this I tell you. Negima is definitely one of the best magical action pack MANGA up to date.

Due to its overwhelming responds from fans here we got the anime, but sad to say… the anime seems pretty much stands alone by itself and follow not the manga. Manga was great which pretty much put the anime into a major disappointment to fans I believe.

So what about the anime? (Comparison with manga)
Character design was slightly different, as well as personalities. From the beginning of the series, there are some similarities in terms of story plot with the manga but slowly the anime sway off and stands by its own. Seriously the anime isn’t really that bad but like I say it doesn’t live up the high expectation that fans have for the anime seeing how the great is the manga.

What’s my opinion?
If this manga would have followed a little much closely to the manga, it might have been better. I don’t like the very fact that the hero (Age 10 Negi Springfield) who works as the teacher in Mahora Gakuen is REALLY a 10 Year Old. I mean… COME ON THIS IS ANIME~!!! In the manga, Negi maybe a 10 year old brat but he is definitely different and much likable compare to the Negi in the anime. In conclusion, I think Negi in the anime were much too childish but of course he is a child but hey! This is anime remember?? If I want to watch realism I would have watch some TV Dramas than anime. Jeez…

Songs were quite nice but what the hell with so many different album and different songs when theirs is practically only a SONG with only different musical instruments in play. So no… it gets old and boring way too fast.

My suggestion?
If you haven’t read the manga, watch the anime first is a much better idea. If you already read the manga… than stay away unless you’re an hardcore fan who must watch it and most probably end up disappointed like me. But well… who knows? The anime version might suit girls more than guys, seeing how I got quite some good respond from my female friends. In my case, the manga pack with actions is a much better choice~!!

This series was pretty decent, I liked it, It's a pretty amusing show, the kid is an english teacher and also a magician, one part this girl tries picking on him when he first arrives and he sneezes and her skirt flys up revealing teddy bear panties =D . The characters (and there are alot of them due to going into detail on the entire class) each are pretty well detailed and have their own background. For ex, the lesbian samurai, the vampire, the old man lover, yup pretty good individualization.

I rate this one 7.5/10 , throughout the series they do a good job of giving you a detailed idea of what each of the like 30+ characters are like, and their backstories (the entire class Negi and a few others) there are a number of filler episodes (but they arent bad) but for the most part it was pretty good. I hear the manga is a lot better though.

Hey everyone! Once again after many months I'm gonna start writing reviews again. Been busy with work and stuff >_<

Ok lets get to the point. Mahou Sensei Negima was an anime I found while browsing through some anime website. I found it interesting and it seems rather a cheerful and lively anime on first impression. Yea, and its a pretty good anime which left a deep impression on me. Why? lets see...

Animation- Better than your average anime I say, the characters and backgrounds were quite well drawn. I love it, the girls especially were really kawaii! (means cute in japanese) Not forgetting to mention the nice combination of colours used. i.e the school uniforms look really cool in violet.

Music- Ok well, it's mostly - or in fact - all fast paced and joyful music as you know the anime is a light and humorous one. Therefore I dare say the music fits rather well into the anime. I liked the OP and 1st ED of the anime as its really catchy resulting in attracting my attention.

Characters- This anime focuses on many people most of the time and not just some of the characters only. Thats why I find it interesting as they reveal each girl's personality in the class throughout the entire series, slowly. Trust me, you won't be disappointed as each girl has her own cuteness and talents one way or another. All very unique. Not forgetting thier "little boy teacher" who is soooo adorable!!! ^^

Story- Ok this is mainly what keeps the anime alive so that people will continue watching it. Plot was rather well planned, a very strong storyline. The anime is full of happy and hilarious (sometimes mischevious xD) scenes which never fails to bring a smile to my face. I recommend it to people who like romantic and comedial animes. Bit of warning though... the ending really shocked me. You'll see why if you watched it. However it still turned out fine so I guess its ok :) *grins* Enough Said.

Overall- In total I give this anime 9 stars as its one of those animes which still can linger in my mind after finish watching it. For like weeks I still can remember it so well. WATCH IT YALL.

Hrmmm, this series has a lot of mixed reviews I see ...

Art. I liked the art in this series. Everything was done very nicely. The girls were also adorable, each of them having a unique personality.

Sound. Nice japanese voice overs in this one. The music was good too.

Story. this is basically a romance anime between the two main characters. The ending disappointed me. The last few episodes were surprising and that's the main point of interest in the series. I cried a little during those episodes, but the ending really did disappointed me. (in order to not spoil it I won't say why, of course)

I enjoyed it and I recommend it. But the ending ...

The manga was absolutely interesting, humorous, and full of action so far in the manga I am up to chapter 121 as you can see, I just wait and wait everyday to see if the new chapters have arrived. This means I am very obsessed with this manga. I then decide to watch the anime and yet once again the creator of Love Hina, Ken Akamatsu has done an excellent job on it! I just love the anime it was quite exciting just like in the manga.

The animation was very clear, but it was just too clear, I couldn't even snap shots of it on my cell phone so I can use it as a background. I love the beginning theme song, but the opening theme song seemed a little slow when all of class 2-A playing volley ball at the beach. I was like, "come on already get to the point!" Everything else was great.

There are alot of characters in the anime. Mostly based on the students of class 2-A. What I realized is that most of the episode is about one student, what they do and if they have issues or not. Like for example, in one part of the chapter called "E-Girl Life" was about this girl name Chisame Hasegawa she is like, a computer freak, always staying at home doing her own website of her cosplaying and she is the most popular person on the internet the number one best. In that episode, in the anime the class also made their own website together and they did the same what Chisame Hasegawa did, but they don't know the number one's best website owner is her. Then yeah stuff happens. I just didn't say the rest to spoil what happens next because I want the people who didn't watch the anime not spoil them out for them.

The sound effects was quite good. It matched with every scene there is. I have no problem at all with the sound effects. They were all just perfect.

I rate this a 9/10 even though I really love this anime I want to give it a 10/10, but because of the animation minus 1 point for it. Yet it's still a good score!

Terrible!

First I read the manga which had incredible detail and good lines. Afterwards, when I watched the anime I was truly dissapointed. The Detail I liked so much was not there any more.

The colour I think is a little plain and could be more colourful...

The sound is about average but does not get boring. The Plotline is very good but near the beggining it is slightly useless. The latin quotes they use as titles are actually real latin quotes and the main reason why I watch them. Sometimes they are somewhat relevant. Personally, The fight scenes drag on a little Too much. Overall its not a BAD anime but there can be better ones.

Studio: XEBEC
Original Creator: K. Akamatsu (Love Hina, A.I. Love You)
Genre: Comedy, Adventure, Supernatural, Shounen, Romance
Year: 2005

Plot and Origins

Its an anime based on Ken Akamatsu's manga "Mahou Sensei Negima", so it will mostly have those eliments that it had on "A.I. Love You" and "Love Hina" - that is panty-shots, a lots of cute girls, many fanservice, and a short, tiny serious moments.

Negi is a child teacher (10 old) who comes from Wales and is sent to teach in all-girls school in Japan. Thaty was originaly planned plot. Yes, no magic and stuff. Yet, it wasn't by own Ken Akamatsus wish but more the redactors request who wanted more Love Hina type of manga that were really popular. Akamatsu wanted something different (more adventurous than romantic type) and finally both ideas were conected and made Mahou Sensei Negima (in year 1998).

This way our Negi is not only a genius 10 year-old teacher but a mage as well, and his reasing for going to teach in all-girl-school is connected with magic test as well. And with this, many funny adventures (that might remind you of Harry Potter in Japanese style) begin...

Anime

While the manga of "Mahou Sensei Negima" (Magister Sensei Negima) was and still is great, the anime might be a not so well evaluated as the manga...

XEBEC did really poor job on this one. Just as in Love Hina case (XEBEC worked on that too) the whole series is just too short. Thats the first drawback that you will most lickely take to notice while watching the anime.

Second drawback is that there is no charcter development (which is very obvious in manga) this way anime-Negi always stays a child not really growing up, all other charcters that were revealed as deeper ones in manga, in anime are made very plain and simple.

Third drawback is that awful colours of hair. At least if we are talking about some characters, the colouring doesn't really suit the cahracters (talking about ones that were changed not according to manga).

The fourth drawback is the animation quality itself. Even Ken Akamatsu himself complained about the quality of XEBEC work considering the drawings. The good thing that somewhere around episode 18 the quality improves.

The fith drawback is that the plot is made way too simple (basically this drawback is conected with the first one). Series was made shorter, thus "cutting" the plot into something plain and simple. The only good thing was that around last three episodes some unexpected events happen, so that improves the whole thing, even if its only a very tiny little bit.

Overall

Not recommended for those who don't really enjoy Love Hina. For those who are "hardcore" Negima fans (if talking about manga fans), this anime won't be a torture but it wan't be too pleasing as well.

For those who have never seen Negima - watch it, and remember while watching that manga is better than anime. So if you enjoy it - you'll enjoy the manga as well.

In the end I recomend it only for "Hardcore" Negima or Love Hina fans, and for those who haven't really heard anything of Negima at all, so that they could have a slight idea what is it all about.

And for those others... well there are better ways to waste your time than this...

Negima is a wonderful, hilarious anime. Every time I sit down to watch it I end up inevitably laughing. The art is good, though not perfect, and the animation fine, though nothing really special. The various characters are wonderful as well. Every character in Negima has an incredibly distinct personality, different from all the rest, that gives him or her a special vibrancy and brings him/her to life. All of the high school girl's in Negi's class are imaginative, brilliantly crafter individuals, and I'm constantly impressed that Ken Akamatsu came up with all those brilliant, different personalities. Sometimes, though, I do wish that I could see more of the less commonly viewed characters in Negi's class. Sometimes characters are neglected, or are given a single ten minutes of the spotlight and then are never seen again. Negima is far from perfect. The plot is interesting, but not intriguing enough to make this a 10/10 anime, and the characters, while brilliantly crafted, aren't always exploited to their fullest use. Whenever you want a laugh and a good time, sit down with Negima and laugh until you cry, but if you're looking for an anime masterpiece, this isn't it. Still, Negima is a good anime with lots of fun, and certainly deserves a try.

GREAT!

This anime is awsome just like the manga. Pretty much followed the manga exactly. The story is fun and will always make u laugh. The ending leaves a little to wonder but it's still GREAT! I have nothing bad to say about this series.

If the only thing I would say could have been better it would have been to elaborate more on Negi's parents. They do show a little... but not enough to really understand Negi's past.

But for the most part this series will always have you laughing and having lots of fun.

This anime wasn't as good as I'd expected. It's rather different from the manga, so it left a lot to be desired in terms of the storyline. The music and artwork was good though! Really reminded me of Love Hina. :) I just wish the characters were fleshed out a bit more, like how the relationships between Negi and his students developed further. But if you're looking for something to cheer you up, this is it. :) it's just that if you're picky like me, then you'd be a bit dissatisfied. Check it out yourself. :)

Magister Sensei Negima is what you get when the writer Ken Akamatsu finished the manga and anime Love Hina and suddenly saw a Harry Potter movie . This anime is a little Love Hina and a little Harry Potter mixed into one anime .

The characters are quite good since there is a variety of different and weird female students . For example there is the Robot student , a crazy martial artist , samurai girl , cheerleaders , ghost( yes already dead student strangely afraid of ghost?) and lots more . Oh did I mention the teacher is oddly a ten year old kid ? Whoa it must really be embarrassing for what a 15-year-old girl being taught by a kid who can be your little brother .

The songs suits the anime well, but still nothing special . There is also the spell casting that they got from latin language which quite a good idea on magic .

The story on the other hand kinda fell short . Since I did read the manga version of it , I feel like a lot is missing . Like why does the kid want to be a wizard ? , what happen to his father and what happen to werewolf kid ? Then there is the episode that is so boring with so much talking that never ends . Compared to the manga version the anime falls short . In coclusion I give it a 6/10

If you are a Love Hina fan the you may want to see this, and if you are also a Harry Potter fan then it is a must get.
