Synopsis :

From the very beginning I was completely intrigued with this short little movie. The artwork was amazing and it caught my attention from the very beginning, though, it ended much too quickly.
For thirty minutes, the characters were well developed but overall? There wasn't much. Same with the plot - it was very short and sweet, but I feel it would have been better if they would have made it longer and explained things more clearly.
However, the artwork and sound quality is amazing, even though it gets repetitive with constant building shots and all the kids being in the same mask. I feel that I got shorted something, though, the demons made up for that a great deal - the artwork and development done on them was pretty amazing.
Over all, it wouldn't be worth buying, and I probably won't watch it a second time - but, it is worth watching a first time, even if it's just because you're bored and need something to do.

Throughout the movie I kept telling myself "Ooo, I'm liking this!", "Wow, I'm really enjoying this!", "This movie is good".
And then it ends...
This movie was short. Too short. It was also morbid. Definitely a movie to watch on Halloween. The storyline is very straight forward, and very appealing. Just from the premise, I was excited to watch the movie. However, what they give you is a lot of mystery, and creepy scenes. I loved the voice work and the sound was okay. Lots of suspensful moments. Some areas were somewhat predictable, some weren't predictable at all.
They seemed to like buildings... a lot of time was devoted to shots of buildings (especially in the beginning). Animation and art? Superb! Really great to look at. Everyone likes to look at cool things. Well, the whole movie production was composed of it.
The end was morbid... but in a way, it wasn't really an ending.

I'd have to say, I was pretty impressed by this anime. It was just a single movie... very short movie too. If couldn't have been more than 30 minutes or something. But it's a real eye catcher... the animation was very fluid mixing it with 3-D scenario. I'll tell you, the graphics are wonderful to look at. The Scenery is beautiful, gorgeous even... like A haunted China town. The Pagodas look so nice... and even the neon signs are impressive.

Story Line- Well it's really too short to have an actual story. But It's one of those short 1 episode things that teach a very creepy lesson. Like a ghost story... yeah, it's a ghost story. I'm going to think twice the next time I play hide and seek. There's a city that lights up at night... no one knows why since its uninhabited. Well they say you should never play hide and seek in it, so 7 kids try it out... within, they get hunted down by demons. Interesting... I liked it alot.
Characters - we don't know much about the characters... except one has a mohawk. Haha... the poor kids though. You tend to feel sorry for them.
Sound- Pretty good, very dynamic and goes well with the scary surrounding.
The only thing that brings this anime down is the length. It is WAY too short. But I thought it was worth teh watch... but then again, I'm a sucker for ghost stories. x]

So, I saw this one on Cartoon Network because the artwork caught my eye. I had also seen a little blurb about it in a Newtype magazine that praised its "mood and atmosphere". The artwork WAS cool, and it did have a somewhat interesting "atmosphere", but that was all. The monsters were kind of neat, but all they did was chase around a bunch of faceless kids in a setting that really didn't make much sense. The music was OK. But overall, there were no interesting characters or story-lines. It was short, so at least I felt that I had only wasted a half-hour or so of my time watching this. I wouldn't mind seeing the same artists do something "good" next time.
The moral of the story is that, if you can, you should watch things on Cartoon Network or borrow things from your friends (although you hope your friends aren't getting this kind of stuff) before spending any real money on things that might turn out to be not-so-good. Also, those Newtype reviews tend to mostly try to look at the positive things about the anime that they see, but really don't appear to give warnings about stuff that isn't so good. Well, consider yourself warned about this one. 1/2 STAR. 2 out of 5 rating.
