At first I was reluctant to watch Blood+ because it appeared rather boring on the outside. But, of course, I decided to watch it anyway; this I do not regret.

Story: (10/10), Tragic, warm, loving, yet addictive enough to make you watch it again... Although, it seems impossible to mix all those emotions into an anime, Blood+ definitely succeeded. I’ve never been more pleased with a Vampire anime, which usually hang around a similar plot, but Blood+ took it the extra mile, adding just enough romance and drama to keep the showing going at full speed without straying from the plot. I’m very impressed .

Music/Soundtrack/VC: (8/10), exquisite package of music and OSTs. All three openings and endings were excellently chosen.

Art: (9/10), this one was a very tricky feat to rate. I loved the way they drew most main characters and sub -characters. The only thing that bothered me was how their faces appeared rigid or distorted from certain angles, which could easily be overlooked.

Characters: (5/10), this is where I had to draw the line. Most characters were dynamic and lovable; but like a “brick to the face," there was one character, I will not mention names, that I felt like throwing down a well. I’m sorry to be so opinion based, but this vexed me terribly and made the story very annoying too at some points.

Overall: (8/10), I was never a fan of Vampire anime, but this one made me a believer. Even though the beginning is a little bit long and dragged out, you will probably enjoy every last bit of it.

When I watched this anime, I got completely addicted...yes I can be quite odd at times, and yes I watched all 50 episodes nonstop. And on the last episode I actually cried. I never do that. Anyway, to the review:

The story, in the beginning is indeed rather slow, but slowly picks up in pace. The story slowly pulls you in, making you curious about saya, and her past. Slowly pieces of her past fall in to place (well, they put them in place for you) and you learn more about her past. There are some of those moments where you think, "Was that character really needed? But then again when you think about it, those characters also give others personality. It's really hard to point out the good parts, without spoiling it, but the conflicts that Saya goes through with her self and those around her really can be painful, but the happiness really touches you too. I really do suggest this anime, so go buy/rent/youtube the anime and watch it ^.~

I also highly suggest reading the manga. The story is slightly different and all...

Seeing this anime as a spin-off of its horrible movie counterpart, I wasn’t expecting much. And the first season went above and beyond to reaffirm my low expectations: an absurdly slow storyline with no meaningful plot developments worsened by annoying clichéd secondary characters that serve no additional value (Kai and Riku). But the rest of the series seemed to prove me wrong. Blood+ steadily gets better as it progresses: adding more character background, deftly using its secondary characters, and the introduction of its bloodline theme. The one major problem the series has is keeping a consistent linear plot; at times, the anime just stalls, with actions not making sense or progressing the story. When that happens, the series wallows back into season one quality, making the series longer than it really needs to be. Nonetheless, Blood+ still manages to entertain, excite, and deliver a superbly enjoyable finale.

7/10

Blood+ is no Fate Stay Night or Shakugan no Shana. It is a mature anime in the sense that the anime will not have cookie-cutter relationships. A solid story delivered with a good amount of action makes this anime series a great experience.

Many of the characters grated on my nerves. Otonashi Saya is generally the main culprit while her brother Kai comes in a close second. It's not that their actions are unrealistic but actually it’s too realistic. I think that a high school girl would react the way Saya did when going face to face with a monster twice her size. The same is true about Kai. I understand his reluctance to get close to his sister when he finds out what she really is. Therefore the problem is that they just don't seem to fit the genre. A whiny indecisive character can only go so far before they start to drag the whole series down.

But the misplaced characters brought a refreshingly mature look at relationships. There's none of those unrealistic love situations. Each character's relationship with each other is explored and resolved in a manner befitting. A good example is the romance between Solomon and Saya. The progress of the relationship doesn't seem like it's straight out of a shoujo manga and the way the two ended seemed natural considering their circumstances.

I loved the addition of the Schiff to the cast of characters. Every time they appear on the screen they steal the show. A cursed race that is probably the most human and well portrayed people I have ever seen. Their struggle for life is profoundly touching. Two episodes are entrenched in my mind that I consider the best ever. The first one involves Irene wandering around Paris and her eventual death. The second one involves Karman being assaulted by the chevalier James. Both of them show the amount of sorrow and persecution the Schiff has to endure.

The story is well developed. It never sidetracked from its main objective to bring Saya closer to her arch nemesis. The flashbacks worked well within the frameworks of the anime; it wasn't disjointed and they were appropriately placed. One thing I thought the anime could do better is to give each country Saya visited a different feel. The anime has our protagonist travel a lot but it really doesn't seem to exploit the advantages of having a romance set in France or fights with Diva's chevaliers in the heart of New York.

Blood+ is an excellent anime that appeals to those wanting a more mature anime. It delivers a good story. The characters can grate on nerves but overall I find them to be very enjoyable; hence 9/10.

Blood+. It has been a while since I saw it but now, after all this time, I feel I can really reflect on it. It's your typical vampire story with a twist. The beginning was extremely interesting, but after a while, it just got kinda boring, and in the end, I felt as if I had wasted a lot of my time. It could have ended a lot earlier instead of making it 50 episodes.

The emphasis is more on the characters than the action, and all the fights are pretty much the same. Nothing that would really amaze me. This would have been alright if it weren't for the fact that most of the characters were just annoying. I really couldn't stand Kai, especially considering how his relationship with Mao turned out. Saya was still unlikeable even after she seemed to have matured after the one year time skip. I really didn't enjoy Blood+. It had an interesting story, but it was brought down by poor execution and direction.

Blood+ is overall a rather enjoyable anime and is worth watching despite being lacking in some areas. I personally felt that the story could have been told quite comfortably in a lot less episodes. And the majority of episodes are crammed so full of tragedy that more than once I was move to cry out 'Enough already! Cut them some slack!'. But I obviously liked it, so let's move on.

The story is rather promising. It's a rather interesting twist on the traditional vampire story, and feels like it's trying something new, while still keeping to a few conventions. There are these strange creatures called Chiropterans which attack humans, and only Saya's blood can kill them. Unfortunately, while the concept is good, the execution is not. The story is dragged out unnecessarily, and there is so much foreshadowing of events, that it lessens the impact of a number of revelatory scenes. By the time they stop dancing around and tell us about Saya's past, we've already figured most of it out already and are yawning with boredom. It's a shame because it did work quite well for the first few episodes in grabbing my curiosity, but overuse killed much of the suspense.

Despite the pitfalls of the story, this anime more than makes up for it with the slew of well-developed characters. Good guys and bad all have depth, and the majority all develop in some manner throughout the course of the series. Unforunately the protagonist does not get the same treatment. Saya is an incredibly irritating character. She is useless and whines constantly about everything: her past, her future, her uselessness... and so on. She develops very little, and I found myself increasing frustrated at everyone falling over themselves to help this selfish and whiny little twit. So why did I keep watching? Because the other characters are such a joy to watch that it was worth it (personally I think Hagi steals the show, very intriguing character and kicks butt better than Saya).

I feel this anime could have been so much better, but it is still worth a watch. If you're just after action and blood and guts, skip this one. It's very character driven, and the battles get a bit samey after a while. But if you fancy a different take on the conventional vampire stories, with oodles of character development, then this one is for you.

I would have never stumbled upon Blood + if the only anime channel we had access to hadn't aired it. After finally watching the whole 50 episodes in Japanese, my opinion about the show was still split. I did not fully agree with the enthusiasm of other fans, but the good parts were enough to keep me wanting for more until the end, thankfully.

Plot: The plot is exceptional. It unfolds slowly with each episode and captured my attention almost immediately. The problem was that, from time to time, I felt that some scenes (or even episodes) were there just to fill in some space and were boring or plainly annoying. At times I felt the plot was advancing far too slowly. For example, a suggestion was made, only to be confirmed thirty or even more episodes later; that was too much for me to stomach. Still, despite this weakness, the plot is still amazing and definitely a strength of the anime.

Characters: I grew fond of the characters; they are both interesting and well-developed. Some of them stand out because their unique personality. Diva is a great example, stirring disgust, awe and pity in me, while managing to creep me out at the same time. Another wonderful character is Solomon.
The bad part is that there seems to be too much emphasis on Saya sometimes. Everybody just keeps calling her name at every given opportunity and she sometimes acts overly self-sacrificing. On the other hand, Haji keeps repeating like a broken record that he will always be with Saya and he will act according to her wishes; this mars his personality, and I could not bring myself to like him.

Graphics: Beautiful and detailed. The characters' moves (especially Saya's) flow naturally. There seems to be a distinction between Saya's "background scenes" which have intense, sometimes dark colors and Diva's, which have plenty of light and cold colors like blue and green.

Music: I loved the music from Blood +. Artists like Hyde, Hitomi Takahashi, Mika Nakashima provided the anime with beautiful musical pieces. The openings are dynamic and the endings are slow. Mark Mancina's "Diva" is probably the best song for a female antagonist I ever heard, though the singer's voice is too mature to resemble Diva's voice actress'.

All in all, Blood + is worth watching, though it is not suitable for young children. A great plot combined with wonderful characters will provide the viewer with something to remember for a long time.

Two words. Totally Awesome. Blood+ is one of the best animes I have ever seen. You really have to watch this. Just ignore all those bad reviews, because if you love action, a pinch of romance, and drama, this is for you.

Story/Plot: 10/10 It's awesome. Seriously. During episodes 1-10, the story is pretty confusing, but sooner or later you WILL understand it. This isn't one of those anime that have a glorious happy ending, and everyone gets what they want. No. Some people die, some people live. Overall, you might cry in some scenes, and you might hate the ending for how it turned out. Either way, it's awesome.

Characters: 10/10 It will be REALLY hard to NOT find a character you will love. This anime gives you a mixture of characters that you will both love and hate, no doubt. You WILL love to choke some characters, and love some to death.

Saya: Her personality changes during a part in the story, and I'll stop there. She really grows during the story, and early on, you might say, "Omg. You useless SCUM!" like I did, but you will grow to love her.

Haji: He might come out as dark and evil at first, but no. He's such a sweetheart, and you can say he's Saya's "sidekick."

Kai: You'll probably say, "Dude, this guy is so annoying. HE SHOULD JUST DIE!" But he actually is really important to the story. He helps Saya during the story in ways that other characters couldn't have.

Diva: Half of you will say, "I hate her" and the other half will say, "I like her." To me, she's likable in that mysterious innocent kind of way. During the story, I wanted to strangle her but at the same time, I loved her. She's not evil, she just grew up to be evil. I won't go any further, because I know how some of you hate spoilers. :3

There's a bunch more...and even one that looks like TAMAKI FROM OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB! <3<3<3 I'll stop here. -Cough-

Animation: 10/10 I have to say the animation is a work of art. You won't see any shabbiness here, and the characters won't look any different on any episode...(until the time change -whistles-). It's pretty realistic too.

Music: 10/10 This music is very attractive. First, you have to turn off the lights, and watch this anime at night, and put the music up a bit. It'll really get to you. The music puts that scary tone onto the animation and it can send a shiver up your spine.

Overall: 10/10 Please, please, please, please watch this. You'll love it. Hey, you're probably bored to death by reading this (even if you did). All the reasons why this anime is so (here we go again) awesome, is up above.

I watched the first episode when it premiered on Adult Swim. Don't kill me yet! I'm not done explaining. Following that episode, and intrigued by the story, I watched the entire series in its original Japanese, subtitled. Was I impressed? Heck yes!

Despite what some negative reviews may lead you to believe, this story stands up proudly to every other anime I have ever watched, surpassing some of the very best without effort. Why do I say this? You'll see. Don't worry, I'll explain.

Now, first of all, some come into this anime thinking they'll have unrelenting action, blood, guts, gore, disembowelment and dismemberment. Well, there is a good amount of that. There are some images and some scenes that made me (weaned on R-rated movies since I was a toddler) cringe a little.

But is impressive violence all this anime has going for it? The answer is no. So, if anyone is watching simply for the violence, they may be satisfied but not completely sated.

The animation made me go 'ooh' and 'aah' a fair amount of times. And that's saying something, since I've seen some of the most spectacular examples of animation there are. It's not the very best, but it's quite good. If you're watching only for it, I don't think you'd be too disappointed. They do a good job of showing emotion and other things through setting.

Music. Ohh... the music? Have you heard of Hans Zimmer? He does some music for movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, and many other notable films. He does some of the music for Blood+. I was entranced by it, to be honest. I'm usually just okay with in-show music, but when I had a chance to listen to some of the soundtrack, it melted me. It sets a wonderful mood for the series, and it doesn't stand out so much as to be distracting. When you listen to it by itself, though, it's quite impressive.

Even that... even those things... are they all the series has going for it? No. If they were the best things about the series, I probably wouldn't have watched.

This is one of few shows I've seen that uses its episodes to develop its characters very strongly. The best part is that they're all fallible; even those who seem invincible have emotional fallibility. No one wins all the time, and what might have turned into a huge cliché is guided on a quite original and interesting path.

The characters are astounding.

Haji: my personal favorite. (Or Hagi, depending what translation you go with; both are correct.) I guess I just go for the silent, mysterious guys. And come on...the lily! If you've seen the series, you know what I'm talking about. Haji's pretty sweet.

Kai was awesome, as well, though. Though he was tortured and uncertain, unable to find his place, he too went through some development, realizing where he belonged and making huge differences in the story.

Saya, who seems like she would be the usual invincible heroine—anyone know what I'm talking about?—has plenty of uncertainties and insecurities as she tries to reconcile her violent and unremembered past with the person she has become. She fails and succeeds as she first tries to remember her goal and then attempts to fulfill it.

Diva? I won't spoil, but Diva was both a cold and interesting antagonist, while still not being completely all-powerful or unapproachable. There's no "completely evil" thing surrounding Diva; just a lifestyle that shaped her mind in ways that could not be changed.

Then we have Solomon, Moses, Karman, Irene... So many amazing characters that I can't even name, and all of them deserve a mention. I wish I could, but I'm afraid I'd bore anyone who has been kind enough to read this.

Anyone looking for some romance? Blood+ manages to add a nice pinch of that, and it doesn't seem contrived at all. After looking at the previous episodes, everything was foreshadowed. We have a nice little love quadrangle, too, if anyone chooses to see it that way.

While you may be disappointed if you're watching merely for action, there's plenty to go around. This series makes good use of its length, giving romance, drama, plot twists, and character development for all involved.

More action than you can shake a stick at, tension and cliffhangers that will have you salivating for more, excellent enemies that you can love (or love to hate, as the case may be). I watched it all in a few days, and am currently rewatching. It's that good. While I admit it does not move at lightning speed all the time, it's definitely worth it.

Up to the very end, there are amazing fights, and an final episode that is absolutely spectacular. Plot twists and turns, along with a few well-placed surprises, last up to the very end.

And when you get to the last episode, make sure to watch that bit after the ending sequence. Can't miss it.

My suggestion while watching? Keep an open mind! Don't let other reviews faze you, even this one. Watch it for everything it has to offer. If you're not careful, you'll find yourself loving the characters.

Overall, Blood+ is definitely worth it. For as little as my opinion matters, I'd highly recommend it. Looking for someone to chat to about Blood+? PM me! It's definitely a show I'd love to talk about.

I first learned of this anime when it replaced Trinity Blood on adult swim. I have little faith in new anime so I came here to find out more about it. All the reviews said that it was good anime so I watched it all, and I have to agree with the people who wrote the reviews, this anime was amazing.

This anime was nothing short of a work of a geniuses. The characters, the plot, everything about it was great. The characters were probably the best part. Everyone of the main characters goes through an enormous amount of change and development. Kai, for example, realizes his own weakness and strives to became stronger in order to help his family. By the end of the anime, Kai was an entirely different person.

The plot was also very good. Although it moved too slow for some people, I think that it greatly contributed to the over all flow of the anime. You are constantly being bombarded with new facts about people, and events they went through in their past. The plot moves slowly in order for to give you time to absorb and analyze these facts. I believe if the anime had went any faster, it would give off a feeling of being rushed.

The best part of the plot was by far the ending. The ending was simply amazing. Like most anime, the ending took place where everything started. This ending also tied up all loose ends and left a peek of the future. Everybody wasn't happy in the end. There were some people who grieved. But this just contributed to the ending which was already amazing.

This anime is for everyone, because it has aspects of which all anime lovers enjoy. Whether you are a violence action anime lover, a drama anime lover, or a mystery anime lover, this anime is for you because it has a unique and refreshing blend of all of these aspects in it. I loved this anime and I'm sure you will to.

Blood+ is quite an interesting anime, and if not for my personal disappointment with the main character, I would have surely enjoyed it even more.

Story/Characters: The story started out well, with Saya's dark and mysterious past. Upon meeting Hagi, she transforms from what seems to be an almost ordinary girl, into a bad ass killer. The mood was set. I thought I was in for some crazy vampire-creature slaughtering. However, it was very much the opposite. For much of the series, she is actually quite useless, apart from the fact that only her blood can kill these creatures, and many people pay the price for her uselessness. I was not impressed with her pathetic ability to find motivation to save the world. The storyline itself however, although slow, was quite intriguing, with a large cast of unique characters and small twists and turns, which was interesting enough to keep me watching. Apart from being a little irritated by Saya however, I would have to say the story and character development were still quite good. To another viewer, Saya's growth and struggles may very well have been an enjoyable triumph to watch: 9/10

Music: The openings were in my opinion, very nice, in terms of both music and animation. Intra episode music too, was effective as it effectively portrayed the mood and situation. But I have nothing special to say about it. It didn't make me say wow or disappoint me. 8/10

Animation: The animation was well done as with most series these days, I don't remember ever having a complaint about the way things looked. 8.5/10.

Overall: Being one of the first series I watched, I found it fairly good despite the slow pace. The plot was intriguing and the characters interesting. I really have nothing bad to say about this anime except for how useless Saya was, although the reasoning for that was due to Saya's complicated and conflicted past in addition to a heavy burden, so I'm not going to let my personal opinion affect the score here. 8.5/10

Blood+ tries to blend new romantic elements into the blood and the hacking and the splendid fighting. It goes through the story at a relaxed pace, which many fans likely felt the original "Blood: The Last Vampire" was too short in its entriety. Yet, they lacked the edgy darkness in the old movie. Sure enough, the beginning was quite compelling to watch, but as the anime reached the 15th episode mark, it all went downhill from there: I was joking with my peers that it was pulling a "reverse FMA."

While I enjoyed the music that accompanied the anime, the romantic elements were overrated, and the aspects of what people enjoyed from the movie were never found in the second half of the story. So it gets my support of 40% for having a great start, but the other 60% died with the plot as it dragged on.

A female vampire hunter. Been done, but now with more style!!

Story 9/10 Pretty good for telling the story of a girl who is a vampire hunter and the friends and family she makes. However, the pacing is often slow, and then a little fast at the end. I t also feels like we were missing pieces of the back-story, such as where the Chiropterans came from.

Characters 9/10: Each character grows as the series continues. Each finds what they are fighting for and what they can do to help and what they are meant to do.

Visuals 10/10 Great animation and beautiful artwork/designs. Even though the show gets a little lazy at times, the overall product looks powerful

Music 9/10 Good fight, action, and drama themes, as well as horror. The big theme that stands out is Diva’s opera solo, which makes for some awesome scenes. The credit songs are cool as well.

Overall 9/10 For tiny bits of sloppiness and awkward pacing, but otherwise a good action drama.

I don't know why I stuck with this series till the end. It probably has one of the slowest moving story lines I've even encountered. I was originally intrigued by the titles impressive art and attractive characters. It wasn't until after I'd seen a couple of episodes that I figured out that the series was tied to the movie: Blood, the Last Vampire. While staying relatively true to the elements of the film, the series proceeded to add elements that were relatively difficult to comprehend. The introduction of Hagi, her chevalier (which is french for "knight") was an interesting twist, and in my opinion an interesting way to interpret vampires. Because that's all they really are... a bunch of vampires. However, the story slowly but surely creeped along, teasing the audience to the point where if you didn't have the entire series to watch in one sitting, or it was late from week to week, I could understand it if the veiwer dropped the show out of frustration. However, the secrets that were revealed throughout the story progression weren't that great, and the plot relied so heavily on foreshadowing that in my opinion, the series could have been summed up in 13 eps.

The ONE interesting facet of the plot is how it unrealistically jumped from the main character's childhood to her "adulthood" where she all of a sudden turned goth, and wrote poetry all day about the hurt instead of fighting the good fight against her nephews.

Overall, this anime SUCKED, I hate the person who ruined such a potentially awesome story, and I even more hate myself for spending over a year waiting for episodes to come out week to week... but I give it a 7 because it managed to keep my interest, and while I fundamentally disagree with the direction the writer took the story, I can't hate him too much!

This is one of the best anime for the past 1 year. To those who loves vampires, violence, blood and gore, this is the anime for you. To those who don't, this is still the anime for you. This is one of the best production by Production I.G. ever since Ghost in the Shell.

Story/Plot (10):
Well the first 14 or 15 episodes of the anime are good as you see Saya turning from a normal, cheerful high school girl to a Chiropteran slaying fighting machine, and what makes her decide to pick up her sword and fight for Red Shield. Then there is these short moments of boring episodes before returning to main story. A lot of the history of Saya has been shown in the episodes which may bore some people but they show what Saya experience throughout her life from living as a princess wearing some gothic European dress to the present Japanese school girl to a hot girl wearing tight fitting leather dress. The last 25 plus episodes were great as more fighting scenes and enemies and mysteries were added. However, the story is similar to Gundam Seed as alot of the characters inside died, very sad. Not going to say who if not I'm giving spoilers. Oh by the way, there are no fillers hurray! The ending is good for me but I still feel sad...why??

Art/Animation (9):
As usual, the animation is great. It's from Production I.G, of course it's good. If the fighting scenes can be more spectacular that would be even great. sad thing is the fight scenes are not as good as Naruto or Bleach where characters have special powers to battle each other. The fight scenes only contains sword, gun and claw fighting. Only the blood splashing around and crunching sounds wins that of Naruto and Bleach. For character designs, only Saya have her lips shown. Not something that i like.(especially the characters from Initial D whom have all their thick sausage lips shown)

Music (10) :
Hoho...The opening music like some reviews said kick ass man!! I'm still listening to Aozora no Namida (1st opening) ever since I watch the 1st episodes, even my handphone ringtone and alarm uses the music, it's just too cool. The 3rd opening is great too by the band Uverworld who did the opening music D-technolife for Bleach. The 2nd (sang by L'Arc~en~Ciel) and last openings are good too if you listen to them longer.

Well the endings are good as they provide some soothing music to the ears. Basically, the openings are some rock and roll themes preparing you for some fight while the endings is like the end of a fight.

Characters (9) :
I like most of the characters inside, except some dull ones. The children in the anime are cute most of them appear in the end, their actions and speech are cute too. (Kawaii~~!!). For the main characters, you can see how they develop as the story goes...each of them experience life in different ways, for example you can see Kai(1 of the characters) changing from a punk to a matured guy who's willing to sacrifce anything to save his loved ones to a father (I guess).

Overall (10):
This is a must watch for anime lovers. Good animation and story, Great music. What are you waiting for...?
