Synopsis :
Tsuyoshi is too preoccupied with studying for the upcoming entrance exams to think about anyone but himself. At school, he's called egotist, group leader. He won't even write the graduation memorial ceremony because he's just too busy - the exams are in February, which is less than a month away.
All that changes one night when an earthquake hits Kobe, his home city. Cars are flung to the side of the road. Buildings and bridges collapse. Tsuyoshi's own home crumbles, and he himself is trapped for the night under a pile of rubble. Tsuyoshi, together with everyone else, must stick together, help each other, and move on.
Note : This movie is based on the Great Hanshin, otherwise known as the Kobe or Hyogo-ken Nanbu, Earthquake, which, at 6.9, was one of the worst earthquakes to ever hit Japan. It left more than 6,000 people dead and 26,000 injured, as well as an economic loss that earned the earthquake a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "costliest natural disaster to befall any one country."

Somehow... I can't believe I'm the first one rewieving this movie, because, this is one of the greatest and most hearttouching movies I've ever seen.
Story(10/10)
The story is, in the main plot, nothing too special. But all the details are made very careful and with heart. It's a story about life and the strengh of nature, about how, if something sad happens, we should live on and find new happiness.
Animation(10/10)
The animation is for 1997 not bad but not too special either. The whole movie is about something cruel like an earthquake, but even so there's no cruel scenes, but even without them it is very sad.
Music(10/10)
The music is like the whole Movie, very sad. But, even if it's sad, it gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling. The melodies are very slow.
Overall(10/10)
A great movie for all who want something to make them cry and laugh at the same time. It really made me cry.
I think I used the adjective "sad" a bit too often, but that is just the best thing to describe this movie.
