I watched Hellsing, read the manga and anticipated the release of this OVA for the longest of times. What I can safely say is that it does not dissapoint.
Plot 10/10:
A perfect score in originality, bringing the themes of the occult, government conspiricy, secret orginizations and Nazies. If you can successfully incorporate that you know you're set for a good anime. Based almost directly off the manga, the plot is fast paced, gory and most of all, entertaining. You have to love the vatican...Paladin Alexander is the best.
Animation 10/10:
Good animation as expected, very well drawn and graphic. A very good production.
Music 8/10:
There was no real music except the ending with the credits, which was a pretty good piece and the sfx were pretty decent. Unfortunately the anime revolves around a looooooooot of man slaughter so the sounds are a little recycled. You won't notice until you think about it so thats alright.
A good production piece and even amazing for an OAV. A must see for Hellsing fans and a mature audience.

(Edited after I watched episode 2). So that's how it feels to have Hellsing series drawn better and put together into one large episode. Wow, that was a great recap.... details.
Art/Animation: 9/10. Very nice, clear line cuts and the same dark theme of the movie is followed. It's a little cartoonish when drawing close ups but it's very very good. Fights were flashy, but that is the trouble with most gun fight. Excellent.
Music: 7/10. The suspence music is good, I saw no opening.
Story: 9/10. Unfortunately, since the story is the summation of the series, it still suffers some setbacks of the series. Such example include introducing catholism vs protestant into the story, an angle that diminished the story in my opinion by adding real religions into the issue. This OVA also semi-depends on you seeing the series else you wont understand a lot of it. So that diminished its value to me. However, in episode 2, the story got VERY juicy. It was great watching "the angel of death" in action but this time with better graphics. Kadus.. if the next episode is as good as this one, it is going up to a 10 in my book.
Character Design: 9/10. While the characters are well drawn and greatly illustrated, unfortunately we lost a lot of the greatness of the character advancement by cutting parts of the series to make this large episode. Watching the police chick learning to become a vampire was one of the best character designs I have seen put in a series and that got curbed here. Otherwise, the character set up is good. While no clear SUPER antagonist is revealed yet... the two seens so far have been done very well. *claps his hands*
Overall, nice to watch. I wish the series was drawn with this quality of art, it would have made it even greater. You should watch the series before watching this.

I am writing this after watching the first episode, the original series and reading the manga.
Art/Animation: 9/10. I totally Agree with Faebinder. "Very nice, clear line cuts and the same dark theme of the movie is followed. It's a little cartoonish when drawing close ups but it's very very good."
Music: 8/10. Lots of suspence-ful music...also like the deep bass in the begining
Story: 9/10. Since this series is supposed to stick closer to the manga..this should be an awesome series. In the manga it focus' more on a war that Nazi vampires are planing. They plan on destroying England, taking over the hellsing organization, and killing Alucard. The manga is full of gore and chaos as we see Alucard's true monster-ism.
Gore: 8/10. Lots of gore...(it is about vampires)....i think the animation on the blood is fairly good with the exception of one scene..which is where you FIRST see the vampiric priest in the first episode...
Overall this should be an awesome series (if they stick close to the manga)....i would advise to watch the original series just so there is no confusion when watching this one...also it is said that they are not going to air this series over television...they just showed a bit of the first episode as a trailer..

Intro: I must say, it was a lot better than the mini series of the animation of Hellsing.
Art/Animation: (8/10) This anime is more of a stylistic anime. Then again, almost all animes are. But the disproportional figures seem a bit odd to me but gives a lot more feel and energy to the viewer. The colors are MUCH bolder than the previous series and more "comic-like" because of so many dark lines. The animation itself was very smooth. I just wished some of the parts weren't too... well, CG. I was almost to the point of laughing AT the CG scenes.
Story: (9/10) I must say the producers improved the story BY A LOT. The details of the storyline was very very improved. I now know why Anderson and Alucard are so friggin strong. I actually kind of liked the Christianity into the story because it added more of an ANTI-EVIL feel to it but there are so many contradictions that it kind of annoyed me. But I give it a 9 since it's much better than the mini series.
Gore: (9/10) Must say, it was kind of nice.
Music: (6/10) This doesn't really matter in this OAV. Really.
I agree with Faebinder: watch the series first.
I also love the improvements from the series. The close up of the guns are so HOT. Alucard looks much more attractive and I think they shrunk "Police Girl's" boobs. :[ Sorry guys. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
