Synopsis : I am Takamachi Nanoha. I was your average third grader until a short time ago. Thanks to an event that happened in the beginning of spring, I am now a magical girl.
During that time of adventures, I met various people; some taught me courage, and some gave me experience, but the most defining moment of all would be the friendships I have gained. I have not been able to meet Fate, Yunno and company since we parted six months ago, but I wonder how they are doing and hope to meet them sometime soon.
It was night once again, and I was in the bedroom completing my homework when Raging Heart alerted me to an unknown incoming presence. Uncertain of it being friend of foe, I left the house to meet the mysterious person.
It comes! Raging Heart informed me, and I quickly shielded myself for battle. The attacks came quick and fast, and I found myself in the heat of battle. I did not know who my attacker was nor what I had done to provoke such vicious attacks. I tried to communicate, but the girl with blue eyes in a red dress and bunny hat continued to attack me.
I counter attacked and her bunny hat was hit. It slowly fell to the ground. Yikes! Note to self: Never hit the bunny hat or else she goes berserk! I soon realized that I am no match for her and was badly beaten. My final thought just before she delivered the death blow was "must it end like this?"

[Story: 7.0] As with its genre, the series maintains a cutesy, optimistic image, complete with friendship speeches and vows about protecting someone. The storyline is much simpler and more straightforward compared to season 1. In return, it is much better developed as the series have no filler episodes: Nanoha A’s jumps into the main story right from the beginning, unlike its prequel that requires quite a fair bit of fillers to establish the setting.
[Characters: 7.5] For a show with a large cast, the show did well in getting across their motivations and their personalities are distinctive. From the cute protagonists to root for, to the unwitting antagonists to sympathise with, they are all generally engaging. Hayate’s predicament may not be as heart wrenching compared to that of Fate’s but that does not make the show any less enjoyable. Fate herself also went through quite a fair bit of character development and gets her fair share of focus, especially in the last few episodes when they are confronting the Book of Darkness.
[Art: 7.0] Art style is generally the same so nothing much to add here. A personal favourite aspect of season 2 would be it introducing more varieties of the weapons with nifty abilities. Fate’s remain as kickass as ever and this is matched by the addition of Sigmund’s sword. Nanoha’s basically upped the explosion radius. Then of course, there is the abundance of Magic Circles. Also, I like the characters’ combat costumes.
[Music: 8.0] Music style is the same: good battle themes, simple bgm for non-action scenes – nothing really outstanding but enough to go with the series. And oh, Eternal Blaze is frickin’ awesome.
[Summary] As standalone series, I found A’s to be more enjoyable that its prequel, but looking at both series on the whole, Mahou Shojo Lyrical Nanoha is fun and entertaining. Endearing characters, simple plot and nice amount of action.
Personal Overall Rating: 7.5

Storyline/plot: 9/10
A sequel to Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. The storyline is similar to the 1st season where there is no actual main enemy and the story ends with a happy ending. This 2nd season starts off with a faster pace and thus is rather exciting when you watch the first episode. The plot is also a little more interesting as there are elements in the story which can be quite confusing. However, the mainstream of the storyline is still quite predictable. The ending few episodes were great as it gets rather emotional.
Character development: 9.5/10
Main characters all have a great part to play in this anime and shows out their personalities and characteristics vividly throughout the entire anime. Emotions were realistic enough and each character was unqiue. New characters like Hayate and her Velka-Type Knights were given ample time to show their potential. Good job!
Animation/Graphics: 10/10
Cool magical devices, new moves, great battles and cute girls with the cute supporting characters were wonderful. Environment details were decent and the overall graphics were great.
Songs/Music: 9.5/10
"ETERNAL BLAZE" by Nana Mizuki provided enough energy as a opening theme. "Spiritual Garden" by Yukari Tamura is a lovely slow paced ending theme which was soothing and relaxing.
Overall: 9.5/10
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's is a great sequel with more action and an interesting storyline. A must watch for those who loved the 1st season.

Sequel to Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha…well, not much has changes, except the slight degrade in animation (Nanoha has some nice scenes; this one seems pretty normal throughout), and become Shounen themed instead of Mahou Shoujo themed. Though it still maintained a cutesy image, nobody’s a bad guy, everything ends well for everyone...
Plot wise… Good
Pretty normal, but for such a story style, it’s about as much as I’ll expect. The ending turns out to be very predictable though. The possibility that everything could have ended easily with a good talk and without a fight get a little irritating, but I guess the desire of the knights wanting to help Hayate is the emotional part of the story. Well… it’s good, but the predictability of the plot makes it less interesting.
Story Style Average
So, everything is in a perfect world with great friends and family and no real bad guys, which make this a very nice feel-good anime. It results in lack of intensity… but possibly has an attraction factor if you wanted lolicon.
Animation Average
Like I’ve said, Nanoha A’s seems to have lost some of the high detail scenes in the previous season. But that isn’t really a big problem… the animation still looks pretty ok.
Music and Sounds Average
Nanoha still sounds cute, Fate still sounds sexy (lol). This season doesn’t seem to have attractive music like that of the first season though.
Overall Good
Like the first season, Nanoha A’s is good because of the character development and the feel-good factor (and possibly moe factor). Unless you want to include the lolicon factor… (Which, I dunno, may probably pushed this to a 10) This is about the worth to watch.

I could not write a review for this series when I first watched it in 2005. It was just too good and I would probably have ended up filling this page with words like good, excellent, superb, awesome and fantastic to state a few. I have just recently watched it for a second time and while my jaw no longes hangs agape in awe, I still find myself going good, excellent, superb, awesome and fantastic!
The story for season two picks up where we left our heroins six months ago in season one. It is not necessary to watch the pervios season then watch this but it would be preferable as you would understand Fate better.
If you have seen season one, you will be familiar with the format of the story which is one of it's most unique and strongest points among all other animes. This is what puts the show head above the rest. While the bad quys start of evil as the story unravels we see that they are fighting for what they believe in and at the end of the day, they are no villians in this show but people with different views who will fight to protect what is dear and important to them. It is Nanoha and now Fate who ensure that their voice of reason, friendship and love breaks the cycle of violence. The story is more complexed and better then in the original season.
The magical fights are superb! They are aewsome. It's mind boggling that they did it incredibly well and did not stinge on it. Full fledge fights take place a good number of times, yet they magically managed to interwind the fights into the story so that the sotry never suffered but instead was strengthen! Simply marvelous.
Homour is sprinkled lightly and it comes from Nanoha and Vita.
The ending is sad, like most goodbyes are but we are given a peak into the characters all grown up. With that hope, it is good to know that there will be a third season in 2007 that will hopefully continue with the standard that season one set and season two transcended.
Watch this even if you are not a fan of the magical girl genre.
I give this a well deserved ten.

Wow, I'm speechless (is currently having trouble writing a review)
The animation is probably the best I've seen in any anime. It takes an even further step forward. I love the magic circles, explosion of light, and simply the camera angles for the battle scenes. You'll get to see this luscious animation at its peak around the second half of this series. This series is amazing. And you'll keep saying that to yourself.
The story has similar elements to its prequel: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. That is, the enemies having their own story and reason for their actions. This series portrays no "bad guys", and I really liked this. While this one seemed more confusing, it was still very interesting, more so than the first season.
The characters are pretty much the same. There was no evident growth, but they were given depth. I think most effort was put into giving a story to the Guardians of the Book of Darkness, and Hayate-chan (a character that I grew very fond of ^^).
The OP is cool, along with its animation sequence. The song is upbeat and the video performs nicely, giving a good impression (don't worry, the anime itself matches to this great OP). The ED is quite... girly? But it's still tingly sweet. In most cases, the anime episodes don't end on a happy note, and so when they play "Spiritual Garden", it's a bit unfitting because the feelings contrast so much.
Though I haven't emphasized on it too much. Nanoha A's is a superb series in which everyone should check out. The magical battle scenes are excellent (very action-packed). They even rival the fights in typical shounen series.
Again, great anime series, but don't forget to watch its prequel first.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, is a sequel after Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and both series are a spin off of Triangle Heart's game and OAVs. When I first saw this anime, three words came instantly into my mind, that is "OH MY GOD!" Seriously, every aspect of the anime is close to prefect (since nothing is perfect right?), it is not your usual "maho" anime, how is it so? Read on.
Story: As mentioned above, this series continues the story of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, so it is highly recommanded to watch it before watching this series, or you will be clueless about what is going on. This new series introduced many more new characters. Unlike the previous series which mainly focus on Fate Testarossa, this show does have its plot branching out. The plot is well developed and well-paced even though it only have 13 episodes. Finish watching one episode and you will be rushing to watch another!
Characters: The characters matures over time, each with unique personality that really suits the way they look. You may think that they are just childrens which behaves in a childish manner and the plot would get messed up with no real story going on. This anime proves all that wrong. The characters behaved like adults and a child at the same time. In certain situation, they are capable of thinking logicially like an adult, an at some time, they were on their child-like behavior which makes them cute.
Animation: Unlike other magic anime where the powers just comes out from your hand, finger or nowhere, in this anime, intelligent devices summons the spells using some sort of spell circle which liike similar to the Transmutation Circle in Fullmetal Alchemist. The circles glow beautifully, however, there is a mage which uses triangle instead of the usual circle. Although this anime is about magic, the spells comes from intelligent devices which makes them looks like the power of technology, even so, ths effects of the spells are no doubt spectacular.
Music: Both the opening and ending songs are well-composed. The opening song is fast-paced whihc really brings up the mood the watch the show. The ending song, however, is the opposite, it is slow-paced and smoothing. The songs are really good and even as I am typing this review, the song keeps repeating in my head!
Overall, I give this anime 10/10 as I could not find any reason to deduct any points from it. I strongly recommand this anime to be watched regradless of whether you are a fan of mahou anime and you will not regret it.

After having watched the first Nanoha show, I found this one even better! More characters with more crazy-cool magic abilities! Goodness all around!
I found this continuation of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha to be more entertaining than the original. The story arc was more in depth, but didn't lose any of the qualities I enjoyed in the first place. It still kept me guessing. Many seemingly important details were seeded that after having watched it (at least) twice, made me realize they were trying to fool me! I found to be a good thing, because when they finally start to explain everything, it comes as a total surprise.
Again, my only real complaint with the show is that the main characters seem rather young (3rd grade) to be dealing with such scenarios. If they were even just 3 years older, (as I pertended they were for my own sake,) it would've made more sence. But that's just a personal opinion, and easy to overlook.
Visually, the show followed in the original's footsteps, and built on it. Everything still looks great, and some things are even more impressive. There are even minor changes to certain costumes that happen without realizing it, which isn't to say it's for no reason, just that time isn't wasted explaining every minute detail. That's also something off the beaten path for typical magical girl shows.
The audio is still just as good as before, and some of the music near the end has become among my favourite tracks to listen to.
Overall, this show is even better than the first Nanoho show, and really really makes me wish there was a "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha B's", because I just can't get enough of this story!

Introduction
This anime is the sequel of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. The story continues on after the end of the prequel and now, instead of being enemies, Nanoha and Fate became close friends. But the fighting is far from over. Now, a new Lost Logia appeared in a form of a tome called Book of Darkness and once again, Nanoha and Fate have to fight against new enemies that desires that power for their own.
Genre: Mahou shoujo, Fantasy, Comedy, Action
Storyline: Awesome!!
What can I say? Even the first episode of this anime already gave you a strange twist of fate and a short fight scenes that can blow you away. As the story goes on, new characters are introduced at a very comfortable pace and a lot of background are explained in details about each of the characters. That is quite a surprise, considering that this anime is only 13-eps-long and yet, their introduction of the characters are very comfortably paced without any rush.
Story twists can be seen throughout the series as the new characters are introduced. This is one of the few anime that can keep you suspenseful throughout the series and with each of the episodes full of unexpected events. Overall, incredible storyline that can make you hunger for next episodes every single time.
Graphics and Animation: Marvellous!!!
Graphics are improved slightly in terms of quality compared to its prequel. Other than that, there are not much to say in the graphics department.
The animation, however, has improved drastically, especially in the close combat and magical casting scenes. There are a few CGIs in the anime that enhances the anime, but not worth mentioning since it is very scarcely used.
Overall, good graphics and marvellous animation.
Sound: Above Average!!
Well, in the sound department, not much to say in the sound effects. I do not find them to be marvellous, but definitely above average in terms of usage of effects.
The BGMs are noticably good in some scenes, but only a few of them that I can notice.
The OP and ED, however, are both exceptionally good. The OP is a fast-paced song by Nana Mizuki, the seiyuu of Fate, titled "ETERNAL BLAZE". The ED is a mid-paced song by Yukari Tamura, seiyuu of Nanoha, titled "Spiritual Garden". Both are an incredibly songs and it still stuck in my MP3 player for quite a while.
Opinion: Downright Positive!!!
Never missed this series if you have watched the prequel of this anime. Once you started watching this, you will be just glued to your seat throughout the 13 episodes. I really recommend this to all mahou shoujo fans and also to the people who have watched the prequel of this incredible series.
P.S. Luckily they only show the so-called "fanservice" transformation sequence twice in the whole anime. If not, I really want to shout again, "She is only a 12-year-old girl!!!!" =P
Rating: 9/10, this anime deserves no less. Minus one point only merely because of the infamous transformation sequence =P

Appearantly, there is a decent fanbase for Nanoha and company because Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha was able to receive the sequel treatment. And what's not to like about MGLN (besides those loli transformation sequences *shudder*)? The anime boasted some very impressive animated sequences that would make most visual junkies drool with desire. it also showcased quite a nice story that was appealing to "Magical Girl" fans everywhere as well as the casual anime viewer. So what does Seven Arcs provide us with this time? Why, they give us Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, of course. Looks like they didn't want to make the name more of a mouthful than it already is. So how does A's compare to its predecessor? To put it simply, A's pretty much tops the original in every aspect and then some, perhaps making Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's one of the most entertaining animes of 2005.
The story certainly wastes no time in this second outing. Nanoha has barely had any time to recover from her last adventure before she is attacked by a red-haired girl with a metal hammer and a sharp attitude. From this point on, A's maintains the breakneck pace with beautiful magical battle after beautiful magical battle, rarely slowing down long enough to take it all in. Strip away all the lights and sounds though, and you basically get the same story concept as the first; somebody is out collecting magical sources of energy and it is up to Nanoha and company to stop them. Despite the recycled concepts, the story of A's keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you begging for the next episode until it's all over, leaving you with nothing but a large smile on your face.
The cast undergoes a slight improvement from the previous run. The keywords are "slight improvement" though. Nanoha is still a Sakura clone, through and through. I won't even touch Yuuno and Arf's similarities. Fate even loses that brooding personality that I fell in love with and made her so popular in the first series. So what makes the cast slightly improved? Instead of developing the already established set of characters, A's decides to throw a group of new people for us to swallow. The good thing is that the new cast (particularly, the Guardians of the Book of Darkness) is well developed with an interesting, albeit typical story to go with their actions and goals. I do want to mention that the three female Guardians eerily remind me of Maggie, Michelle and Anita from Read or Die. I really don't know what's up with MGLN and its need to "borrow" characters from other animes. Oh well, at least A's has this set of cat-girl twins. Always a plus in my book... =P
MGLN has been known for its amazing animation and A's definitely does not dissapoint in that respect. The magic battles are as beautiful as ever. It's amazing at how many new attacks and spells Nanoha and Fate have up their sleeves (actually, Nanoha's new moves are just variations of her Divine Buster). All the Guardians have their own unique fighting style, weapon and set of attacks, making the battles in this anime pure eye candy. What's even greater is that those disturbing transformation sequences are all but gone from the episodes; a very welcome change, indeed. Even the music decides to step it up a couple notches and provide a decent OP and ED for me to listen to.
Cop-out, over dramatic ending aside, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's is definitely a fun show that has some of the greatest battle sequences in recent animes (yes, it even rivals those found in Bleach and Naruto too). The story is easy to follow and the characters, although unoriginal, are fun to watch. A's is everything a sequel to an anime should be. If you've watched the first series, these episodes are pretty much a must. The world of "Magical Girl" animes seem to be looking up these days. =)
