A unique anime about a vampire high school girl, Karin who has an embarrassing secret: She does not drink blood, she produce them.

The first time I've known about Karin was a friend was watching it on his laptop and it looked interesting so I've decided to choose it out. It was not excellent or high exalted, but it is a recommended anime for comedy/fantasy fans and alike.

The plot is simple yet it is unique and original. However, it had some...perverse scenes that made me uncomfortable when my little sister was watching it. The last few episodes were confusing and very awkward at the end...*clears throat*. And the introduction was very...uhh, there were nudity which made me also very uncomfortable for young children to watch.

Anyways, the animation is cute as the same with the relationship with Usui, a teenager boy that was born with deformed eyes and there will be symptoms of picking out favorite characters as you watch (my favorite is Karin's grandma). Overall, it is a anime that is suitable to watch if you are not hemophobic or a fan of inter"racial" couples; vampires and humans.

This un-vampire comedy/drama is recommended by JaMaJuice.

Karin could be interesting… if you didn’t take it seriously. Likewise a girl that kept nosebleed every now and then can be funny that way.

Plot
For a 24 episode anime… it had very little things to show. Some of the episodes just bores me stupid with it’s lame jokes. There’s also little development in other characters… although the other characters does seem a little boring. Overall, there’s only a small main plot and hardly no side plot, and to drag it into a 24 episode anime is really slow.

Story
Aww… it was cheesy. Those things Kenta said for Karin to get all dazzling is so clichéd…can’t they make it a little creative/different? And also the anime is pretty inconsistent… it seems to rush every now then just to progress, and made use of some weird logic that didn’t make sense. I thought they were trying to be funny.

Animation
It was only above average. The female characters were drawn well, and aside from pretty boy Ren, the others were only normal.

Music and Sounds
It must have been hard to keep screaming like that. I like Karin’s and Anju’s voice anyway.
Surprisingly Karin has some pretty nice songs. Particularly “Another Birthday", the ending theme.

Overall
It was ok if you take it lightly… like a snack. Some of those non-plot contributing stuff are worth a watch if you got nothing else to do. In fact the ending does end pretty well too.

This anime presents a very original view on what vampires can be like... in this anime they seem to be relatively friendly and are not bent on killing human beings. Also, it seems that half-vamps are not the only variation of vampire; you will see what I mean when you have watched the first episode fully. There are other original elements added to what vampires are and what they can do; just watch and see.

Despite this, however, the story isn't as creative; basically, its about a girl named Karin who is in love with this scary eyed boy, but cannot get close to him due to her being a vampire. I saw that problem coming ever since she started being friends with him, though it was still great watching them as they developed feelings for each other. Also, the background stories of Karin's family and other characters were great as well, some were very saddening.

Overall, I found this anime very enjoyable and sweet. Do not watch if you cannot stand seeing vampires being portrayed with originality, since they do sort of take the concept of vampires and change a little.

Karin is a very well done anime that I would recommend to anyone that does not automatically think that vampires mean horror. I hate the horror genre in the extreme but when I watched this anime I found it hilarious. This was a vampire comedy that was about an anti-vampire.
I found the interplay between the main characters to be original and fun. I enjoyed the romance aspect of the show. Some of the events are unexpected and will through you. You think that something just happened and you find out later that what you thought happened in fact did not happen.
The characters developed and progressed with the storyline in a very satisfying manner. In the end I found myself liking how much they had changed in their attitudes. I also found myself liking many of the characters for themselves as characters.

When I first heard about this anime, I frankly wasn't interested. Most vampire stories simply don't interest me. I've burned out on Vampire D and some others so watching another vampire anime wasn't high on my list of things to do. However after watching the first episode, I was immediately hooked. This is so much more then a simple vampire story, it has a depth and a humor that I didn't expect that made this a terrific anime. One of the best I've seen in awhile. It did have its flaws, some more annoying then others, but overall I highly recommend this one.

The story is simple, and other reviewers have already touched on it, so I'll only lightly cover it. This is a story about Karin, an Unvampire who is a member of a family of vampires. Rather then needing blood, she overproduces, so much so that she gets occasionally explosive nosebleeds. Her struggle to fit in with her family due to her condition, her constant embarrassment, her struggle to keep what she is a secret and her seeking for romance are what this is about. But it is presented in such a way that it rarely drags, and is frequently humorous.

Forget what you think you know about vampires. They don't merely feed off of blood, but rather emotions and attributes of humans. Love, stress, lies, jealousy, pride, and unhappiness. They filter these attributes or emotions making them humans unable to feel them for a short time. In Karin’s case, she feeds on unhappiness which is why her love interest, a perpetually unhappy person is such a challenge to her.

The biggest problem with this story in my opinion would be Winner Sinclair. Introduced at the end of the 7th episode and present throughout the rest, he is the most annoying character in the series. It’s not so much what he says or does, but rather how he says it. I really really wish they could have gotten someone else to do the voice. Then again his lines didn't help much either. About the 10th time you hear him say his name, you start to want to throttle him. Karins reaction to him makes him tolerable, but he still detracts from the story.

The pacing and humor throughout were really quite good. Though some may complain that the relationship didn't develop quickly enough. I felt it was done quite well. Bridging the gap between worlds shouldn't be done immediately, and by taking their time, it made the story more believable. However the story did start to wear by episode 22 and 23. Even with everything building to a climax, I felt like just jumping to the end to find out how everything turned out rather then finishing the episode I was watching.

Others have mentioned the opening and closing credits. I tend to skip watching them after about 5 or 6 times through. But I have to say that the initial opening explanation that occurs before the intro song and credits is simply hilarious. I must have watched that at least 20 times, before skipping to the beginning of the episode.

Overall, I rate this as a terrific Anime, well worth watching. One I've added to my own personal list of titles I want to aquire.

When I saw this anime was aobut vampires I straight away wanted to get it. I love vampire anime. However, this anime mixes comedy in, which I didn't find that good a concept. When a funny scene arrives I felt so bored by the slow plot development that I could only smile feebly.

As mentionned, the storyline is slow. Don't expect action or high speed events, they are not included. The fact that Karin produces blood instead of sucking it is interesting but stays a bit farfetched. As is the fact that you have a jolly family of vampires living happily near a town and who act liek a really chummy family. They're vampires for god sakes! Make them mean!

My favourite characters in this anime are Ren and Anju because of the fact that they are serious and seem to always have control of the situation, especially Anju. Winner is also funny due to his sheer stupidity during certain scenes.

The graphics are without fault, they look nice and are pleasing to the eye. Usui's weird eyes make him look funny though.

Overall I'd rate this anime 6/10 : its nice to watch....if you have nothing better.

I found this anime interesting because it strays from the usual average vampire because Karin produces blood instead of drinking it. The plot is good.
The storyline has quite a few small tales which make it more interesting to watch as you go through the episodes. Also the twists are entertaining as well, especially when Winner-kun comes along and protests his love for her.
My fave character is Anju-shes just so quiet and weird :D Karins boobs are way too big though, it just makes her look stupid. But besides that I think shes pretty cool.
Overall I found this anime funny and original. It remains as one of my favourites although its not the best I've seen.

Wow? This is one extremely cute anime that somehow tells the other site of a vampire tales. Usually when we speak of vampire, it'll be something hardcore like Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, and etc. which comes with lots of action and bloody scene. Karin on the other hand is one unique anime that comes with much softer and lighter scenes.

Sure, we see blood (This is after all vampire related anime) but mostly is all about the heroine Karin having nose bleed due to over increased blood in her body. Yup, she is an "Unvampire" that produce blood and inject them to whoever that she bites instead of the traditional vampire that suck blood from those who they bite. Speaking of unique? *shrugs*

Karin story plot is very solid with mysteries such as who is the first person that Karin bites at the lake in the very beginning of the first episode. These encourage audience to keep interest and curious in the anime.(I know I am...) The 2/3 of the entire 24 episode mostly concentrates on character development as well as introduction of new characters. Even at the climax in the last 1/3 of the story, Karin still manage to develop certain characters to another level like the vampire hunter's past and reason why he wanted to hunt for them. Well? with comedies here and there in the entire series really get things going. ^^

All the characters in Karin were very likable, especially my favorite Anju (Karin Little Sister) who appear to be Gothic-Loli type most of the time. Karin isn't bad herself but nah? her boobs seems to get into my way to pursue over her? To simplify things, the characters were well drawn and developed. Karin utilize their little cast to the fullest by develop every single support characters as well as the main characters to their very best. I must say, I'm very impressed and satisfied with It. ^^

Actions?? Well? in my opinion it was done moderately with no complains since Karin isn?t about actions and more concentrate on Romances. (I find that a vampire hunter using rocket launcher is rather amusing??) Well... not to mention that umbrella vs. saber can be quite a spectacular scene. Average, but nice enough to fit into this anime. A thumb up!

Romance wise, I think Karin did a good job in revealing the story one by one with a slow pace. However, their development is as good as the rate of Ah! My Goddess developed, too slow... way too slow... sometimes It can be frustrating to wait for even a kissing scene to happened!

opening theme somehow seems to be a little over-exaggerated? I admit is good but what the hell? Everyone I know is worshipping the opening SCARLET like nobody's business. The ending Mou Hitotsu no Birthday was very soothing and slow paced which is to my liking, thus I suppose I prefer the ending theme over the opening. ^^

Overall, I think Karin is a very satisfying anime and ended in a very beautiful yet "fairy tales" ways. In my opinion, fan-service are not needed in this anime as somehow it spoil it a little one way or another. Besides, fan-service that comes once in a blue moon might as well drop it, since it won't give any effect on audience in my opinion. However, since it comes along with this anime... I just get along with it ^^
Recommended to all anime-fans out there who could use some light refreshment especially those who into vampires but tired of the old fashioned and traditional type of Blood sucking, nerve wrecking, destructive, evil, vampires. Cheers~~

I think this was my first comedy/romance anime revolving vampires. Things were fun in the beginning. And then when Winner-kun was introduced, things just started to get annoying. Only because Winner's antics, though intentionally funny, were enormously quack. When the romance area was in more focus, things started getting better again. Unfortunately, the last few episodes were even more annoying. It had the "exaggerated drama" feel like in Peach Girl. Things concluded nicely in the character aspect, but as the fantasy genre, it failed.

The story was interesting and solid, though not strongly played throughout the anime. More focus was on the comedy/romance which I liked and won't complain about.

The characters fail. Well, most of them. A lot of the characters seem to fit in some anime stereotype. And those characters remained that way for a long time. If not for some past references or last minute actions, they didn't develop at all. Undeveloped annoying characters... it's Karin for the win! At least they were just secondary.

What I liked most about this anime is probably the opening theme "Scarlet". The ED theme was always skipped, while the OP theme I always watched. I loved the very beginning (not the photo collection part), when Usui is supposedly sleeping and Karin is behind a tree, and they sort of zoom out the camera. That was cool.

The most fanservice you'll get is probably the in-between sections of Karin. The OP, the commercial break, and the next episode preview. There are some bouncy and grabbing bon-bons here and there, but nothing too overwhelming.

It was a fun series, exceedingly enjoyable in the beginning but I sort of lost interest as the series went on.

The characters were relatively well developed, but nothing really stood out about any of them, and all the way to the end, I still don't understand why Usui had those pin-point eyes while everyone else had normal eyes. (for a while I thought he was a vampire)

The drawings were fun, but again, nothing really stood out about it. There was some "fan-service" but I can't say it added to the anime in anyway.

The story was filled with comedy which made each episode enjoyable, but the overall plot was pretty basic. The girl likes the guy because he helps her out, and eventually one thing leads to another, and more or less it is very predictable. There is however, a little twist at the end which kind of makes the story much more random, but was funny.

Overall, I think this anime is funny and worth watching if you've got time to kill and bandwith to use, but if you're looking for something more than just simple comedy, this isn't the right anime for you.

Karin is a wonderful love comedy from start to finish. From the very first episode, the series captures you with its charm and wonderfully laid out story. Karin is a great series, and any anime fan can enjoy it.

Karin revolves around a vampire girl named Karin (coincidentally) and a human boy named Usui Kenta. Karin isn't just any normal vampire as she is a blood-maker. Instead of only having to suck blood from humans, Karin makes blood when a person who is depressed is around her. Her condition eventually leads to making friends with Kenta and the two's relationship begins to develop from there!

Highlights:

-The animation was amazingly consistent and well done. The character models were consistent throughout the series, the backgrounds were well drawn, the characters' movements were well done (though the fight scenes may have been lacking), and the animation was very colorful. Karin the series was definitely easy on the eyes.
-The music was amazing. The opening song really set you up for the series well. The frantic beat embodied the many frantic moments throughout Karin the series. The ending song was, in contrast, a slower and much more mellow song, which embodied the more emotional moments that were littered throughout the series. The background music was also very well done in that it was able to enhance the mood whether it was romantic, mysterious, comedic, etc.
-I really liked the scene transitions the series used early on in the series. The scene would change with little boxes that unfolded the next scene. A unique little sound byte was also used during the transitions.
-The relationship between Karin and Kenta unfolded very believably. The two didn't just fall in love and first sight, get married, and have a million little babies (I know I'm exaggerating). Karin the series was able to display the trials and tribulations the two faced exceptionally well.
-The attention to detail in terms of each character's background story and motivation for their actions was thorough and more than sufficient. I really enjoyed how all the pieces fit together.

Lows:

-The fight scenes, though the series didn't have very many, were pretty lack luster compared to the rest of the series' attributes. Then again, I don't think someone would come to a love comedy to watch fight scenes.

Er...:

-The eyes for each character were awkward to look at. Karin and a few other characters had triangular eyes, which I wasn't used to at first. After a while, the annoyances disappear.
-Though the opening sequence has a bunch of fanservice, Karin the series, had surprisingly, very little fanservice. The last episode had a bit of fanservice, but it wasn't even all that much. Considering Karin's healthy proportions, it was definitely surprising that the series contained very little fanservice, which is definitely not a bad thing as I personally don't like panty shots every other scene (distasteful bleh...).

Karin the series was an amazing show. I never expected it to be as good as it was. The lack of anything really offensive also allows for the show to be viewed by a larger audience. Karin is an extremely well produced anime series with no real big flaws. I'd recommend this to anyone!

When I sarted out watching this anime, I was very optimistic, because I hadn't watched an anime or a very long time (hope that doesn't change my judgement...) well I've watched about 20 episodes and I'm still pretty positive to it... this anime clearly deserves more than three reviews, hope there will be more in the future.

The story turns noticably more serious in the later episodes, but I don't mind, I'm already too captivated by the story.

In which way I think this anime is more suited for romancelovers, but comedylovers also get their share of the fun.

A great anime overall, the only thing that bothers me, that comes to mind, is Karin's haircut... in other words: I can't find much to complain about.

Now that there's finally more episodes out, I feel I can make a better review.

The first one or two episodes really turned me away. They bored me a lot, which really deterred me from this show, but seeing as I had nothing else to watch at the moment, I continued to watch Karin, and I'm glad I did.
The story revolves around a deformed Vampire, Karin, who instead of having an urge to drink blood, produces extra blood that she must inject into humans, because if she doesn't, she'll have massive nosebleeds, or something more dramatic. That, with the addition of Usui-kun discovering her secret, makes for a very nice twist. Of course, an innocent love must develop between them, after all, what is a story between a boy and a girl without a little bit of love? The conflict there is actually quite cute.
The characters are quite interesting. I'm actually in love with Karin's brother and Winner right now. The other characters also play nice roles in the show, and their personalities so far are quite appealing. Nothing annoying as of yet.
The animation is nothing special. It bothers me that the characters are so voluptuous, especially considering they're still so young.
The op/ed is nothing special IMO. The animation for the ed certainly isn't anything to go crazy over.
Well, I certainly recommend this anime to anyone in a bad mood. Don't let the first few episodes fool you, it's actually quite enjoyable. The show is so upbeat and cute that it just brightens your day up.
-2 only because the first few episodes were pretty boring, and the op/ed, and animation aren't breathtaking. Otherwise it's really not all that bad.

Karin is a somewhat cutesy romantic comedy about a family of vampires in modern day of Japan. The story mainly focuses around Karin, who is an "un-vampire". She suffers from an odd condition, where instead of needing to suck blood, her blood levels increase until either she "bites" and injects her victim with the extra blood or has a spectacular nose bleed which usually propels her in the air a few feet and artisticly turns into a bunch of flowers. Also, her condition alows Karen to go out into the sun, and also causes her to have the night vision of a standard human.

The romance mainly revolves around Karin, and a boy named Kenta who lives with his mom in a small apartment which also happens to be below Karin's magically hidden house. In this show, vampires have preferred "blood types" which they go after. For instance, Karin's mom likes the blood of liars, while her brother likes the blood of stressed women. Karin's blood type, we find, happens to be that of miserable people. Whenever Karin is near a miserable person, her blood reacts and starts to increae. For the first few episodes, this hapens mainly due to Kenta. Karin's sister, Anju, recognizes this, and let Kenta in on the news that Karin and her family are vampires.

Overall so far, it's been entertaining. It's humerous and is definitely a good watch.

As of this writting there are over 22000 hits and not one review. That's a pity because I actually like this title. It's a really strange one. It's about vampires but not your broody, cello playing, goth hero type of vampire. Nope it's it's about cute funny romantic vampires. Just the thing you need if you ever wanted to torture a goth. This is not a dark horror show but a light romantic comedy about a wayward teenage "reverse vampire" (she makes blood instead of draining it) whose favored victims are depressed people whom once she bites them have a better outlook on life (how ungoth is that!). Top it off with a romantic triangle involving the boy that keeps her secret and a vampire hunter that loves her .... Well it's pretty funny. I recommend this to anyone looking for a light romantic comedy. The art work is well done (blood sprays turn into things like flowers and rainbows). The music is pretty catchy, and the story is pretty good as well. If I wasn't so jaded, I would probably rate it higher than the 7 I gave it but if you really want a real indicator of how much I like this show.... I still have every episode I downloaded saved to my hard drive and I really don't usually save that many things for very long.
