This OVA/movie shows the events after the original series. This time it's Layla turn to be in doubt of what she wants in her life.
I wasn't expecting much, but it turns out to be quite touching considering how Layla want to change her life for the better, and her relationship with Sora's quite amazing.
The animation's same as that of the original series, so it wasn't really much, but the music and BGM's pretty nice.
Of course you won't be touching this if you've not watch the original series, but since this is a continuation, I would recommend it to all Kaleido Star fans.

I have cried my heart out in writing my Kaleido Star review so Iíll try to keep it simple here. This Movie purposely made to tell you tales behind the strong, determine, woman with miracles, possess great deal of toughness, and never know when to give up. Yes, Iím referring to Layla Hamilton and not Sora Haegino.
Sincerely Iím not really into Layla and was more like Soraís fan. Anyways, this movie was meant to tell the past that what made Layla today in Kaleido Star. Although this movie is not a stand alone watch and it should only be view after a person finished the TV series, I would say that this movie was really one of the few movies that I really enjoy to the fullest.
Like the usual Kaleido Star, the animation quality is superb, the characters were the same and cute as always, the music section were well done, and everything were almost the same with the old TV series. It is not a wonder if a person thought that this Movie is actually part of the TV series since it doesnít looks like a movie at all. (Accept for the fact it is 50 minutes long)
Like I say, the movie is all about Layla and her past, how she revive as the Phoenix which have perish after her last performance with Sora in the previous TV series, and of course there were some amazing scene here as well. (The unexpected scene from a beautiful face suddenly crowded with rain clouds.) The other characters were neglected and the entire 50+ minute long movie actually talks about Layla. There were not much of stage performances eitherÖ
This movie isnít a master piece this I admit, but it still gives me the thrill and heart warming feeling Iíve experience in Kaleido Star TV series. I know this feeling of satisfaction and it is really pleasant. The other side of Layla that is never revealed in the series was finally exposed in the movie. Personally wise, I felt that this movie is a must watch for all Kaleido Star Fan and it really worth every penny I can ever offer.
I WOULD NOT recommend this series to someone who never watches the TV series since itíll prove pointless anyways and he/she would not enjoy it to the fullest. However as a great fan of Kaleido Star, this is a must watch movie at any cost!!!

I loved the original Kaleido Star, don't get me wrong, but this one just didn't do much for me.
The animation was about the same, but the character relationships seemed rather forced. Layla was totally out of character, although they gave her valid reasons for her actions, it still didn't sit well with me and it just didn't seem to work.
I don't have any problem with the direction they took it, but they should have paid more attention to the various personalities in operation before making the characters act as they did.
Also, Layla made a drastic change to her appearance that horrified me. WHY? Is all I can say....
I didn't know her and Sora were that kind of team.

Not a stand-alone watching.
Even with the first Season, I still felt that it compressed too many things at once. There was a lot of assumed knowledge brought in, and there were a number of flashbacks to tell the story, instead of bringing up something new. Although most of the flash backs were from Season 1 of Kaleido Star, watching the 1st Season still didn't give a lot of background information for the relationship between the characters.
Without spewing out names of characters, they're already given a role. Not even their personality is let through. Not only that, we're given a lot, and I mean, A LOT of characters. They play wee roles, so only the faithful Kaleido Star fans would enjoy things in the character end.
Also, the comedy choice was not very funny. Because Fool wasn't in the scenes a lot, and because he's "looked" at differently than before, things were not as fun. I know they tried though.
However, I found that there were a lot of screen-shotable-moments. Watching this really reinforced my appreciate for the wonderful work in every sensory aspect. The art, colours are once again vibrant and "happy", the voice work fit in like a puzzle, and the animation... (not as good as the original Kaleido Star but) kept the essentials.
Beautiful, and exceeded in everything aesthetic, but not too valuable.
