When I originally heard about this anime, I though it was just going to a dumbed down kiddy version of the show that wouldn't be worth my time. After watching a few episodes, I realized that my assumptions had been wrong and that this show still possessed some of the things that made its predecessor great, such as its addictive got-to-see-next-episode-ness (I have no clue why that is, or for that matter if that even counts as a word. I just know that for some odd reason I was glued to the TV).
Though it lacks some of the suspense of the original show (yes, there was lots of that...), it makes up for its deficiency in other ways.
One way it does that is by cutting down on some of the pointless dialog that made the original kinda boring some episodes when they just talked the whole episode (Though they do talk a lot, but anyone who watches the show has gotten used to that now). Though the actual duels themselves are not that suspenseful, there are more of them, which is better (Almost always, but sometimes not) than hearing Yugi/Atem rant about evil the whole episode.
All in all, Yu-Gi-Oh GX is a very good anime in and of itself. easy to follow and kinda addictive (Don't ask, just accept it). You don't have to have seen the original to follow it (It is more of a separate storyline with a few connections than a continuation). I recommend it for fans of the original anime as well as new fans. For those of us who are "too old" to watch this stuff (We know who we are), just don't tell your parents ;) (Or your friends for that matter).

Story:
Set a generation into the future, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX revolves around a boy named Jaden Yuki as he begins his life at the new Duel Academy, owned by Kaiba Corp. While running late for his entrance exams, Jaden bumps into Yugi Muto, the King of Games! Seeing a Duel Disk and deck, Yugi thinks he must be a duelist, Jaden confirms this as he says he's on his way for his entrance exams for the Duel Academy. Yugi decides to give him a Winged Kuriboh card, saying it is a lucky card.
Review:
Yu-gi-oh GX is an anime of friendship, dueling, fate, action, adventure and many more. This series is also a very exciting anime because it has a lot of action happening and there are also some funny parts to entertain the viewers.
The music is so alive that it makes the audience have more attention to this anime. It is full of intensity which brings the atmosphere higher. The music is an important element to complete the anime.
But I do have to say it is more recommanded to kids but others can still watch it because you can learn a lot just by watching this anime.

I was pleasantly surprised. Not corny at all. Not overly dramatic. It's funny and the plot is as interesting as expected. I don't hate the characters either. Not much commentary from the peanut gallery. Plenty of filler episodes that I would hardly call wasted time. Loved the double climax ending. The first climax was rushed. The second was perfect. Outcome of battles aren't obvious in the beginning. Definetly better than I expected.

When I first heard about this anime, I was pretty excited for a fresh new start, but so far this anime is very disappointing and not worthy to watch. But there are still some good points that this anime covers to make it a little bit better to watch.
Plot: this plot seems very interesting to me but the thing is the dialogue fails to capture it. The dialogue is boring and has a lot of unnescessary words and phrases that make it long and meaningless. For example, in the start of a duel when the character makes a move then the crowd instantly says something like "Nice move" or "You go" or "That is sweet". It's just like the character is paid to cheer for every move that the duelist make and vice versa, I mean what's good about summoning a monster in the start. Another mistake with the dialogue is that they repeated a lot of things that have been said by another character and so in an episode the ideas are repeated many times which turns the episode into a big mush of talking and less crucial points. Enough with the dialogue. Another false move in this plot is that it includes some things in "Yu-gi-oh" which they think will spice the anime up. Well, I think it's wrong, I mean why couldn't we just have a new beginning and forget all that in the first series. One of the reason I wanted this is because the last series had too much "save the world" thing going on and when I saw this new series I thought that this loosened up a bit so you don't have that "save the world" feeling every time you hear something about "Yu-gi-oh" but they have to include Seto Kaiba and Yu-gi. Not only that but the duels are also soggy with only one strategy being used all over again and only a little news after a long period so many viewers like me can predict what happen next. The next thing that Yu-gi-oh GX are like copying the idea of Yu-gi-oh but just another brighter side, example of this is the "Three Sacred Beast", anyone that seen it will probably say that it look like "Slifer, Ra, and Obelisk" but with a little changes, and then there's Jun Manjoume another replica of Kaiba, then Asuka Tenjouin is Anzu, see the similiarity. But this anime show a little of teen sillyness so it's kind of fun for those kind of episode. Overall, this plot take a 5 from 1 to 10.
Graphic: I especially like the graphics in GX, really nice. They don't inherit any of the old graphics like those tensed lines up above the nose when the character is angry or tense. The color is brighter, eyes are also being drawn different. It deserve an 8 from 1 to 10.
Sound/Music: The opening song is upbeat, real teen-like, kinda get people to want to see the anime. The original soundtrack that was being used is also okay, not bad and being used in the right situation so there's nothing to talk about much. A 6 for this section.
Comment: I think for us who have watched anime for a long time this is a waste of time but some of the younger kids it's very appropriate since most of the anime is out of reach for their age. Also some might find this as enjoyable since it's an okay anime for just relaxing because there are many humorous things like I said above. Anyway, I gave this anime a 6.

Yu-Gi Oh Gx is very wonderful show to watch. It strays what the first show Yu-Gi-oh does. Instead if trying to save the world or trying to find an ancient rulers past it focus on the cards. It shows some uniqoue cards from are Hero Joudai Yuki. Joudai Yuki is a hyper active kid who just loves to dual anyone he can get to dual him
The cards on the show are very unique to and also the decks that our duelist use are unique. No one perosn has the strongest deck anyone could be the best at Duelest Academy if you put your heart in to the battle and continue fighting to the end.
The sound track is a lot better than ne would think for a show like this one would have. Also the animation is quite fresh and original.

The next generation of duelists is full of fresh youth and ambition and many cool characters. Well, unlike the former series Generation Next has more dueling and less of a real story, so it's not about saving the world and fulfilling your destiny anymore. A real relief for everybody who got tired of all the talking about friendship and the heart of cards and just loves to see a hot game , but when I see all those young dudes fighting like pros I sometimes miss Yugi and his friends, the old pioneers of Duel Monsters.
But don't get me wrong, the characters will keep you amused and if you are into the game, you can learn a good many strategies. Yuki Joudai is a goodlooking, bigmouthed and talented duelist and a worthy prodigy for the King of Games so he quickly makes new friends as well as foes at the Academy. Oh, and talking about the Academy, the whole scenario there reminds me a LOOOOOOT about Harry Potter, if you see the series you will know what I mean...
The soundtrack is modernised and more electronic now, just like the duel technology, but the graphics is more or less the same, so nothing to complain about it. Many stories are comparetively boring, always like two people having trouble and then they duel, but the duels are always fun and so are the characters.
