Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu has to be one of the funniest anime series ever made, the story basically revolves around Hale, a 10 year old boy who lives with his mother in a very strange jungle. One evening, his mother (weda) comes home from the village hunt with a charming young girl, Guu, who immediately gets on well with Hale. The next morning however, Hale awakens to find a very different Guu.

The characters are varied and most of them very memorable, you have Hale, the permanently stressed and tormented 10 year old kid, Guu - his not-quite-human tormenter with the ability to distort reality.. I think..., His alcoholic and party-loving mother Weda. The womanizing and quite frankly perverted school doctor Clive, and many more, who while mostly one-dimensional (expressing one personality trait to the extreme) are integrated well and never do anything out of character (well, not unless Guu is messing with them)

The animation, while sometimes feeling dated, is superb, fluid and fits in very nicely with the bizarreness that oozes from every episode. As a reviewer above me pointed out, the changes in drawing style are common but never seem out of place, as they usually are used to reflect the extremity of emotion that Hale is subjected to from Guu's relentless head games.

Sound wise I would criticize the series, as there is very little ambient noise nor background music, and what little there is seems to be repeated five or six times an episode. the Opening and ending credits however are almost dance worthy however.

In closing, Jungle wa is a great anime series and I would seriously recommend it to anyone who wants their anime funny and just a little bit different from the norm.

I was pretty sceptic of this show until I saw it. I heard about I from a friend and he described it as a bunch of people who live in the jungle and then this really weird girl comes to live there. The picture that I got in my head then was a bunch of medieval like people in the jungle who is inhabitated by this modern city girl, and that image didn't seem funny to me at all. but boy was I wrong, I swear I have never laughed as much as I did to this show, and sometimes I thought that I seriously was going to die. Its humor in its best form and it is brilliant and really funny all the way through. All the characters in the anime are excellent and everything and everyone is put together so that it make one heck of a laughing symphony. The art is really good too and original on top of that. The music fits very nicely to the surroundings and both the opening and end themes are very good. The voices are execellent and one of the keys to this shows humor. Looking for a good laugh in the middle of you mediocre life? Here it is. It's funny, it's bizzar, it's absurd, it's Jungle wa itsumo hale nochi Guu.

This show is postively one of the funniest shows of all time and is one of the few anime series around that have a setting in a jungle. Its comedy rivals that of Azumanga Daioh or Excel Saga but its style is fairly close to that of the recent Fullmetal Alchemist so all the episodes seem like only 10 minutes long...

Now, first off, the animation style is quite unique and personally, methinks that it fits the anime in a nutshell quite nicely. While some of the things in there are sometimes drawn as really crazy, the series progresses nicely even though most of the episodes seem disconnected at first.

All the characters are incredibly well-developed and do not have any character inconsistencies or anything of the sort. Guu is probably the funniest charecter in the series because of all her antics and comments she makes even though she always looks depressed or bored. And for some reason, at the end of some of the episodes, if there is something bad that happens to Hale, the weather always immediately begins to change to that of a downpour which is always funny.

The sound effects and music is top notch for what this series is meant for. That is always a good thing.

Overall, I would have to give this series a 10 out of 10. However, because none of the DVDs are out and it seems impossible to find it even on eBay, I'd have to say good luck to everyone to go find a good subbing somewhere!

You MUST watch Guu if you are a fan of comedic anime!

I didn't think it was possible to pack anything so full of both humor and meaning. This show is made for both people that love to think through things and people who love to NOT think through anything. You can leave this show thinking it's the funniest thing you've ever seen, or you could walk out of it realizing that almost every little bit of the series had a deep meaning that can relate to anybody's life.

I also get a kick out of any anime that can get me to sing along with both the opening and closing themes.

One more note I'll give is that even though the animation is very simplistic, I think that it just adds to the humor and meaning of the piece. I wouldn't have the animation any other way.

This anime is simply brilliant. A perfect combination of crazy humor that can make you laugh your brains out and serious underlying messages.

The story is simple but very effective. Most episodes are not directly related, but somehow there's always a feeling that things are moving and connected. Maybe that is because the show is all about the characters. The misterious Guu, Hale, Weda, Mary, the doctor... it's never boring to follow their hilarious adventures.

The animation just as great. The style is quite simple and cartoonish, but it fits the mood of the show perfectly and is beautifully drawn. The music is also amazing - sometimes upbeat, sometimes moody... probably the best I've heard in such a series.

This is one of the very few shows which I think deserve a perfect score. There isn't a single bad thing I can say about it.

It took me a very long time to actually start watching Jungle wa Itsumo, even though a friend of mine kept telling me to see it. The series hooked me from beginning to end when I finally did get around to it! Some find it too outrageous for their liking, but I don't think it's as messed up as other animes (Excel Saga & Puni Puni Poemi to name a few).

Every character has his/her distinguishing personality that plays off & conflicts with each other so well, and that's where the majority of the comedy lies. There's not a definite plot of course and people tended to miss some of the real life lessons that the show sneaks in here and there though. I also loved the random drawing style changes because it seemed to be appropriate in clarifying certain feelings (esp. terror and being dumbfounded: You'll understand if you watch it).

All in all, I laughed myself into near hysterics. Everyone should take a break from their mundane lives and watch something crazy like this.

Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu, or just Guu as I call it, can be a lot of fun. However, it is probably one of the most messed up series I've ever seen.

Guu is just a bizarre little girl, although her eccentricity can be very funny. Wherever she goes, animals run away (or disappear mysteriously), and many people get very very scared. Plus, her ability to change into a sparkly little girl at will and eat whatever she wants (no matter how big) is just not normal, even for anime.

Guu is a lot of crazy fluff that could eventually get rather serious, but is fun no matter where it goes.
