Honey and Clover II was more likable than its predecessor - it shook away some of the mystery and confusion surrounding some of the characters, gave them each their own personal growths, but ultimately replaced the frustrations of the first season with newer ones. I did not exactly approve of some of the relationships within this series: their maturation provoked me and pushed me away. Honey and Clover II itself was not, as others have said, as fun-loving, but it still contained depth and passion that was fitting for a sequel. A few notable characters, in a way, grew up (thankfully, in some cases), and others remained the same. This contributed to the overall "real" feeling that was present in the first anime but not fully explored.
There existed less instances of the symbolic bicycle wheel in the first series - perhaps also pinpointing the, at some points, not so subtle maturation of some of the characters: all is less optimistic, but no wholly so.
There were some things I did not care for, mainly the music and the ending. For some odd reason I could not, and still continue to not, stand the music of Honey and Clover. The opening and ending did not pique my interest at all, and the ending - well - I just didn't like it. No spoilers, but it was pretty distasteful and, again, frustrating (just like the first season).
Overall, Honey and Clover and its sequel are a nice watch. Full of passion and complexity nonexistent in other animes, the two mesh into a fresh experience for many a viewer. At times, it may be frustrating, but it always moves forward - pretty much like that thing we might call "life."

There are just so little animes with as much spirit as the Honey and Clovers... Filled with a bit of passion, and something... real ? The situation themself are what many normal people live in their life. Relationships, friends, work...
All of this is portrayed in an incredibly good looking artwork, good storyline flow and passionnate music.
As a whole, I felt it was a bit less impressive then the first season. One could say it has matured and became a more polished, a more serious shows, but I was wanting a bit more of the crazyness the first season had offered me.

I wanted to watch the sequel to the enjoyable Honey and Clover, mostly because it ended on a cliff-hanger of sorts and I was naturally curious as to the fates of all the characters.
Story was good. As mentioned by other reviewers, it had less of a 'dreamy' feel to it and was a lot more down to earth. This was reflected in the subtle changes of the main characters as they are moving on and up in the world. It was much more 'mature' than its predecessor and I'm thankful for it. The introduction of some comedy elements certainly did break up the monotony, but there were moments where it just wasn't appropriate (there were fortunately few and far between).
Characters were more mature than in Honey and Clover. It continued on where the first left off with much focused on the interaction of the characters and their ability to profess their unrequited love. Heart-wrenching at times to see how human they were. The rest were explored in depth, but I sometimes wish they had focused more on the likes of Takemoto and Morita.
I found the music and the animation much like from Honey and Clover. It took a while to grow on me and once it did, I found it very pleasant. As usual, it had some superb vocals and some of the songs used during the scenes complimented the mood.
I wouldn't recommend viewers to watch only the 2nd season. It's a continuation of the growing up of a host of individuals maturing over a number of years and the 1st season is an observation on the way they feel for each other. The 2nd season is more of a conclusion and "saying goodbye" to those heady innocent days seen in season 1. Unusually, I enjoyed this more than the 1st in spite of its shorter length. Definitely worth your while!

I have to admit, I found this to be better than the first Honey And Clover II. Amazingly enough, the story got a lot more real.
Artwork: 91 Can't complain really, other than the usual style that they use in H&C. Sometimes it's like laziness when drawing to symbolize emotion. Otherwise, I enjoyed the combination of colors and the uniqueness of characters drawn.
Music: 10/10. I absolutely loved the ending music. I mean it hit deep. The opening was very good as well and the intra-episode effects were excellent.
Story: 9/10. I really can't complain a lot about the story, it was fabulously done. Unfortunately, it did leave some questions but that is the style of the anime. The comedy was alright but in my opinion they used it too much and in some places I was more interested in seeing the result not the comedy.
Character Design: 8/10. Some characters were left untouched and not well focused on. I found that some of the connections between the characters was mild and not well shown. It took away a little from the reality of the story but overall the characters were very deep, it's just their interactions were not what i wanted to see in a life anime.
I loved this sequel more than the first one... maybe it just grew on me. I recommend this if you even remotely found the first one appealing.

BRAVO!
I give this anime a smashing TEN! It left me teary eyed while my gf was sobbing!
The anime picked up from where the first season left off. It picked up on Takemoto's vulnerabilities and self-realization, Mayama's roller-coaster-ride romance with Rika-san, Morita's unveiling of his past which was quite touching, Ayu's continued one sided love, Hagu's dedication to the Muse (arts) and Hanamoto-sensei's one big bang! Also, we saw a big development of Nomiya's character and lots of emphatic scenes with the other co-workers mainly Miwako and Leader the dog.
There are many great lines in it but what really stood out was, "Thank you for letting me fall in love with you."
Enjoy watching Honey and Clover II!
Story: 10
The story itself was very moving. There are lots of twists that makes it much more interesting. It developed the chemistry between the characters and capitalized on the romantic mood. Added to the mix are revenge, letting love go, steadfastness and a journey to discover one's self. This is a volatile mix that ended to a beauiful ending!
Animation: 10
Same as always. The soft colors do the trick. I love the way the anime is portrayed.
Characters: 10
I could not give them a 9.9 for each of the characters deserve a 10. I really was impressed of the uniqueness of each character. Be it a funny, heart-crushing or sorrowful mood.. the character really fit.
Music: 10
Thank you very much for the wonderful opening, insert and ending songs. It really fit the anime well.

Honey and Clover is a nice and touchy story about lives of these teenagers venturing into adulthood. While it wasn't overwhelmed with emotions, it was filled with heart warming scenes that even a harcore action fan may enjoy. Unless you don't like these genre of animes, you won't be able to feel bored despite this story is simply filled with everyday stuff that would happen to anyone.
This sequel to Honey and Clover has much more content than what I've expected. While the previous season show more of the troubles in love, work and furture they faced in their lifes, season 2 shows more of how they went on to deal about it. Hagu's incident proved to be a stronger, deeper climax in the story than season one. However, I got to say that none of the other animes I've seen felt this incomplete to me before. Things were finally beginning to show result (however ridiculous they might be), and before I've seen any real accomplishments of the characters, the story ends. Perhaps it's because it emotional in the middle of the series that I expected a lot from the ending.
Plot-wise...
There isn't much of a plot, but I would say the story was paced nicely thoughout the story with plenty of character developing for every key characters. But however rich this series is, I feel that the ending was lacking much content conpared to the rest of the previous parts. Especially the key character in the series didn't get the most developing for the ending.
Story-wise...
Its like old people sitting down to reminicise about the younger days, but no matter my age I still enjoyed their younger days for these characters. Their anguish, their unrequited feelings, their troubles... and how they went on to overcome them. I'll say it's filled with heart-warming moments. (unlike season 1)
Animation...
It still has the light colour theme that I didn't like, but nevertheless it fits the theme of the anime really well. The artist didn't really draw these anime characters like how others usually draw but it's still really nice, espiecally small details and nice backgrounds.
Music & Sounds...
I like the voice of Morita-san and Hagu-chan, but the rest are still good. The insert music has always played a key role in creating the mood in the anime. The music really fits the theme. It don't really matter that not much ambience sounds or others is heard.
Overall...
I quite like it despite the fact that I didn't really have a thing for animes of this genre. And I would have liked it much, much better if not for the ending I felt so incomplete. It was nice, but not perfect. For people who may like animes of this genre, it will definitely be an incredible watch, I can guarentee that.

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!
Quite frankly, I wasn't impressed OUT OF THE ORDINARY with the first season. I was only interested in what happened to Ayu and I didnt find the storylines of the others appealing. SECOND SEASON CAME OUT. so I thought: well, might as well finish off the series. watched the first ep. GOT SO BADLY HOOKED!
H&CII, to me, had so much more appeal. Of course, you would've had to watch the first season to understand everything. Although I was bored several times during the first season, I'm so glad i watched it because the second season was absolutely brilliant!
STORYLINE/CHARACTERS:
the second season was basically made to satisfy the wants of the first-season fans of H&C. It continues the stories of all the characters; Takemoto's love confession to Hagu which he hasnt received a reply, Ayu's love for Mayama, Mayama's love for Rika, Morita's family ambitions and Hagu's struggle to achieve what she ultimately wants. Its a terrific series of needs and wants. I felt so much pain and joy while watching this series; it was bittersweet. Nomiya also comes in and confesses his love to Ayu. (i pretty much watched the series because i read that somewhere, but then it didnt come along till half-way through the series.) It's a masterpiece, a drama, a love story, a beautiful story, a tender tale; words cant express mu feelings in regard to this series. It had SO many levels i was just hooked on it.
ANIMATION:
pretty much follows the design of the first. I noticed a lot of greys and yellows which made a lovely contrast. I love how they made all the characters look their part. Every single one of them is different physically and mentally.
MUSIC:
umm... I loved the opening theme. The vocals are gorgeous. =]
pretty nice overall.
OVERALL:
if you watched the first season and wasnt completely satisfied, watch the second season because it's so incredibly worth it! if u havent watched the first season then please do so before watching the second.
LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!!

Honey and Clover has one of the only sequel seasons that did not dissapoint me in any way. Quite the surprise considering both School Rumble and Ah! My Goddess had me more interested initially. However, Honey and Clover II was able to grab my attention and not let go for its twelve episode run. I was thoroughly impressed by this second go round, or continuation as it were.
The story takes off right where the first season left off. It starts without a hitch and just zips along non stop while we all try to catch our breaths. A LOT happens in this anime and all the characters are, yet again, put through a gauntlet of trials and emotions before it's all over. The melancholy mood is certainly different from the primarily lighthearted one that the first season has. I happily welcomed it because it usually brought forth great character development. What's even better is that nobody is overlooked. By the end of the show, there's a proper explanation to all parties involved and I ended up with something I don't get from too many animes: closure.
Animation still runs strong. I continue to enjoy the soft colors that Honey and Clover uses. It's aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. JC Staff does another impressive job. The music is just as great, if not better. The insert songs found in each individual episode helped flesh out and bring out more emotion to the accompanied scene. Not to mention that I love the ED, Split. It is awesome. Finally, the piano version of Fugainaiya is peaceful and also stragetically placed throughout the series.
Slice of life animes (or sequels, for that matter) don't get much better than this. A fitting ending to a wonderful anime. Quite rare these days. Do pick this one up when you have the time.

As the previous two reviews have mentioned, season 1 was truly a great season. I am overjoyed that season 2 came out, and I really like seeing how the characters have grown and progressed. Also, as mentioned, I did enjoy season 1 more than season 2, but then again, I'm only up to episode 8 of season 2.
I'll be merging the story and characters into one commentary because the two really do go hand-in-hand. The personalities of all the characters are once again superb. They're all so different, which is why they all work so well together. And, of course, the twist of this season is that the characters are all fighting their inner demons and are changing, or have already changed and are fighting from reverting back to their old selves. Takemoto's change in personality and view on life is what I find most appealing this season. He has grown so much. This season reveals more about the crew's past, and why they act the way they do. Lots of twists and turns this season, and lots of tearjerkers.
This show really has a uniqueness in their artwork. Not only do the characters grow in personality, but you see them physically change too. The soft colors are great, and makes everything seem more.. well, as if you were having a flash into someone else's life, which is what this show is. While the facial expressions aren't the greatest, they do grow on you.
The music is great, once again. The OP took a while to get used to. I used to say that I liked season 1's OP more, but season 2's OP is growing on me, and I really can't seem to choose between the two. The transitions into songs in the middle of the episodes are once again, done very well, and I really do love the songs they choose to play. Too bad I don't know what song it is. Great lyrics that fit the show/moment very well.
For those who haven't been watching, do watch. And if you have not seen season 1, make sure you do catch that. Both seasons are great if this slice-of-life type show is your type of anime.

I didn’t even know the second season of Honey and Clover was coming out, but I’m so glad it did. I love it, but personally I enjoyed the first season more than the second…though I’ve only watched up to five episodes so far. I think the second season tends to lean more towards the personal details of each character such as love interests and career paths since we’ve already been through the introduction of the main cast. But I kind of miss the silly group hangouts and just the carefree foolishness often depicted in the first season. I suppose this is due to the fact that it deals with everyone’s future…you know moving on with life and trying to find their rightful place in society. So I guess it’s obvious that the characters would eventually grow out of their little world that revolved around the college and become more independent. Nonetheless the storyline is still entertaining and maintains the comical element.
One thing that has been irritating me for a while is the drawing. I don’t know if others who have watched both series noticed anything, but the drawing is slightly different compared to the last season. It might look the same at first glance, but trust me it’s different. Okay…maybe I’m overreacting. I guess I’ll just have overlook it.
I strongly suggest this series as well as the first one to those who are looking for something unique that deals with some rather mature issues and not the nonsensical, cliche kind found in trashy anime.

Hm...... for the viewers that miss the first season, it is advisable to watch it. If not, you can watch the compact version in the first episode. Though I just only watched for the first four episodes, the feeling of this anime is considered as a little better that the first season. The story line is continuous to the first season. For the people that loves the first season, they will definately love the second season too!!
This anime actually brings you to the deep thought of the relationship between human, mainly love. For the people that like to think deeply about this issue, I recomend it (because I also like to think :-) ). The opening song and ending song still the same singer (Suneohair for the ending & Yuki for the opening) but it seems kinda not as dynamic as the first season.... maybe it's just me.
It's not just love issues that this anime covers, Honey & clover II also has many hilarious scenes and the most importantly, is ORIGINAL. You will know what I mean when you watch it.
The style of drawing is kind of weird for the first glance but it is a good artwork ( trust me, you will not see a wierd faces or weird body portions for this whole episode ). The director uses the "bling bling" effect effectively , and the voice ( for japanese version, I don't know if they have another version but just in case) is also considered as perfect to their apperance.
For the rating, I will give this anime 9/10 overall.
