Wow. I seldom find anime this riveting, especially since it's somewhat derived from history. It's hard to find anime this good nowadays, I have to say.

Story: It was simply amazing. The plot was really good, with all those twists in the story. Makes you want to watch the whole series in one go. I guess I could compare it to a Dan Brown novel, in sense that its fast paced and exciting. The storyline was also great, since there were just enough flashbacks to make it more interesting. Another thing about those flashbacks is that the people who made the story actually made the flashbacks fit the flow of the story.

Characters: They were great. The character development was truly good in the sense that you can totally see how the characters evolved.

Animation: Well, I didn't give this a 10 because of this. Its not your typical anime drawing, but its also good. It actually fits the story, come to think of it. But the drawing is not as fine as other anime.

Music: I loved the opening song and the background music. The background music totally fit the parts where it was used.

It really is something interesting and not worth missing. Never thought I would watch a historical anime but this one really rocked! Maybe not really for very young audiences, but people who like good anime really should watch this!

This is a very strong anime full of adventure. I found this anime by accident but I am very happy that I did. I loved how they had some historical points to it. Its very rare to find anime that have a historical background to it.

Plot: (10/10) I find the plot interesting, its got some exciting twist’s to it. I like how it still has a traditional good and evil plot. The plot is good and it makes sure to not leave you with unanswered questions or confusion. Its very intense and keeps the watcher on edge not knowing what will happen next.

Characters: (9/10) I would have to say that the characters in this anime are well done. I love how the main character was real in life. The characters that were based of actual people were excellently executed. They were very believable. Though some characters were off they still served a very important part of the anime.

Animation: (10/10) the animation in this was so spectacular I was in awe. The sword fights were the best. They were done so realistically and precise. The backgrounds were amazing with all the beautiful scenes. The characters movement was very life like and I loved how they made them move in just the right ways.

Music: (8/10) I feel that the music was good, I like how they had specific music for specific scenes, like for the suspenseful parts or the calm parts. The ending was excellent and so was the opening

Overall, this was a very well made anime and I loved it all the way. (9/10)

Le Chevalier D'Eon is a story set amidst extremely turbulent times leading up to revolution. Its the story of D'Eon a knight of the king of France, and his quest to discover who killed his Sister, another agent of the King. His quest for Justice takes him around Europe from Russia to England, introducing many historical figures and weaving an extremely complicated and tangled plot. The addition of Poets who use words as a kind of magic adds additional layers to this already complex story.

The music was enjoyable, and the animation was truly excellent. The fighting in the story was superb, with some of the best sword fights I have ever seen in any anime. Having said all these complimentary things, I have to admit that this anime does have its problems. One of the problems it suffers from is in its historical accuracy. In introducing us to all these historical figures, it sacrifices accuracy for the sake of the story. And yet, the broad strokes of history are there, if not the details. Another problem the story has is just how complex it is. So many details are given, so much information, that at times the plot simply doesn't make sense. Admittedly the more the story develops, the more these disparate threads of plot are brought together and you get a more complete picture. Still this could have been done better.

Having said all these things about the show, I have to admit I won't be watching it again. Not just for the fact that I know who killed the sister. Le Chevalier D'Eon has a lot going for it, and yet I have to admit that I simply didn't enjoy it. Particularly the ending. I was left wishing the story had gone a different direction. Particularly with Anna and D'Eon. My reaction to this ending was one of extreme dislike. To build things up, and then have them end in the manner they did was to me simply unacceptable, even if it was predictable. I rate this series well because of its quality, but cannot recommend it, because of how the story ends.

This series had some decent things to it but just lacked some important things I wanted to see in it. It definitely had a deep story and the graphics were perfect but the overall flow was just weak.

Artwork: 10/10. Beautiful crisp clear images. Amazing fluid combat (sword fights remind me of rurouni kenshin Reminisence, which I looked it up and it turns out that the director of the series is the same one for rurouni kenshin Reminisence). Couple of the female characters are a bit gruff/bulky like males but that's exactly how some victorian women were.

Music: 9/10. Wonderful ending. Okay beginning and great intraepisode music. Suspence music is good.

Story: 9/10. No fillers. Strong begininng. Couple of surprises in the plot and the overall plot is still somewhat hidden despite the villans being somewhat revealed. Great work adding magic to the complexity. It's just too bad that the overall interest in the story is not well fed because of a minor stretch of the story. I would have liked to see more struggle between the bad and the good.

Character Design: 9/10. I love the different characters. The villans recieved some time to shine but could use more and the heroes definitely got their fair share. Overall I see the characters advancing more but for this setup to grow the villans need to shine more or else they wont be taken seriously. The star male character (D'eon) was the weakness in the character setup.

A good surprising plot on a wonderful setup. It's a bit short of perfection unfortunately.

Le Chevalier D'Eon the series like the man himself is many things at different times, to the point of confusing the viewer about its actual identity. The series kicks off at a fast pace, with superb swords fight scenes and a dash of horror cum supernatural. Sadly however this standard only last for the first few episodes.

The next phase is replaced by our heroes running around trying to solve the mystery while evading capture. It is here that the main story which is political in nature is introduced albeit disguised as a mystery. All horror elements at this juncture have been dispelled and the awesome display of swordsmanship neatly tucked away only to be displayed once in a blue moon whilst lacking in both the intensity and ferocity of the earlier duels.

The characters of Lia, D'Eon, Durrant, Teillagory, Robin and Queen Maria are all very interesting though sadly only a few survive this tale.

The beginning of this series is interesting and intriguing but thereafter the story and pace take a nose dive. For me it never recovers from that though it does try to pull itself level towards the last few episodes however it is too little too late.

If I had to rate just the beginning of this anime, I would give it a nine. Unfortunately taking all 24 episodes into consideration, I can only give it a six. Special note is given to the historical backdrop that was used. It is interesting how history was adapted for this series. Hence another point added, for a final rating of seven.

Le Chevalier D'Eon is must see for anime fans that love their anime with a touch of history and the supernatural. While the series is relatively new and has just started developing it shows incredible promise.

Story: a brief overview
D'Eon is a member of the Secret Police, working in the shadows to keep the peace within French society. When his sister suddenly turns up floating down a river in a coffin with 'Psalms' written on it, D'Eon is thrown into a deadly struggle with revolutionaries and supernatural forces in order to uncover the truth behind his sister's death.

Animation 10/10
The animation in this series is breathtaking, the detail and quality is brilliant and makes watching this series a sheer pleasure. The animation in this series is on a level seen in few series. In terms of animation, this series is very much 'eye candy'.

Music 10/10
The music likewise is outstanding, both appropriate to the medieval setting and effective in setting the atmosphere. The music in this series is often very subtle and works in a way that refrains from forefronting itself; rather it plays what can be considered a supporting role rather than diverting the audience’s attention.

Story 10/10
The development of the story is handled extremely well, whilst leaving enough room for speculation that draws the audience in and motivates them to continue watching it does not leave the audience feeling frustrated after watching each episode. The plot is unravelled at a rate which both draws in the audience while not over baiting them and leaving them frustrated with unanswered questions at the end of each episode. The plot itself is original and captivating offering viewers a mixture of mystery, action, supernatural without overemphasis. Furthermore, Le Chevalier D'Eon retains a certain amount of historical value especially in terms of the characters.

Characters 10/10
The character development in Le Chevalier D'Eon is done progressively. The main protagonist, D'eon Beaumont, is a dedicated brother and patriot, remaining true to his character throughout the series. The consistency and subtleties of each character's attitudes and actions is reflective of the complexity of the series and its standout nature. The characters aren't reflective of typical character structures, with each adopting their own personal and unique characters.

Le Chevalier D'eon is definitely a must see anime this spring. With awe-inspiring animation, great music implementation, and an exciting and unique plot, Le Chevalier D'Eon does not disappoint.
