After watching this series I was left very disappointed. I came to this anime after already reading the manga, but the anime just didn't do it justice.
Characters: 7
The character development is probably this anime's most outstanding factor, but that isn't saying much. The viewer watches the protagonist Nanako struggle to become a lady, but we never see it come to frutition, since the anime ends prematurely. The four other males that share the house with Nanako aren't explored as the series progresses and they feel kind of stale.
Story: 5
The concept of the ugly girl, that is actually a beauty finding love isn't that original and The Wallflower doesn't even pull it off that well. Like other animes that go into production before the accompanying manga is complete, the Wallflower feels unfinished. The end isn't satisfying and it feels as if no one progressess in the show.
Animation: 3
This is perhaps the worst part of the show. Generally the quality of animation doesn't bother me, but the animators of this series didn't try. I've seen shows from the late 80's with better animation. The animators frequently use chibi and stick figures in the anime, but my chief complaint is that everything seemed too static. At times I felt as if I were listening to pictures being narrated. Frequently scenes would be shown where its just a picture of a character with the mouth moving every so often. The amount of effort put into the animation is almost non-existent. I could care less if the character designs are nice and pretty...I actually want to see the characters move.
Music: 6
The opening and closing weren't horrible, but they are forgetable and the background music...suits the anime I guess.
Overall Score: 4

When I first saw the snapshots of this one, I am convinced that this is not the anime for me. It is my classmate who really pushed me into watch this. So I watched the first episode and after that I was unable to leave my seat. Pure laughter!
Story: 9/10
This is another unique love story for all ages. It is very simple; four dazzling male heartthrobs will transform a scary and ugly girl into one beautiful and fine lady so that they can have a free rent in the house. It is very funny because nobody believes they can really make it, and then episode by episode, major developments occur, especially when they fall in love to this ugly girl.
Animation: 6/10
The animation is not that bad, but it is intended to be bad by the animators! Their “chibi? versions are very funny, not to mention the version 2 where they are all pure white with no faces. Their movements are not fine and there is no consistency in the animation. But who cares about the animation? This is really funny.
Characters: 8/10
All the characters are very lovable, especially Nakahara Sunako. She is scary, she is fearless, and she is beautiful! The boys are really funny too, and also Hiroshi.
Music: 8/10
There are a lot of BGMs that are used in this series. It is funny that there is a scene that sounds so scary, and then all of a sudden it will switch to a refreshing one, making it hilarious. The opening song is also great.
Overall: 7.75/10
This is a refreshing anime to watch. If you are tired of watching other animes, you can watch this one while resting. This is an average anime that will not fail to make you laugh. Nosebleed!

I picked this up after seeing the main character ended up on A-S top 100 characters of 2008… and she was practically an unknown character. And after watching the whole 25 episodes of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge… I must say it was painful trying to last through it. Yamato Nadeshiko is an incredibly low budget series that a huge lack of background detail, animation quality, frame rate, and even character detail. The show had a gag where the characters are drawn simplified/chibi-fied, sometimes only leaving the outline of the characters, but it’s obviously overused to save animation costs. I don’t appreciate how main character Sunako is chibified 80% of the time either, even if there’s a story-related reason behind it. The only time I get to see Sunako’s face is usually when she makes a SHOCKU face or during a freeze frame and I find it just… unacceptable, no matter how the story tries to play it.
The story begins with a hikkikomori girl Sunako who moves into a mansion to live with four incredibly “dazzling and overwhelmingly popular bishounen, who’s trying to change her into a lady in a bid to live in the mansion for free. Each episode is characterized by loud, boisterous actions and reactions they made, usually by how they lable Sunako as “scary, and how Sunako faint from nosebleed by how “dazzling they are. This kind of jokes carries on for the whole of the 25 episode and seriously… can anyone really sit through all of these? There are a few episodes that weren’t so bad watching the whole of it, but only just that few. I practically had to watch at double speed to finish it up.
I was never really a fan of shoujo, so maybe it’s just me who can’t appreciate this. (seeing how the others rate this series) Unless you’re a fan so shoujo, I would recommend NOT watching this.

Story/Dev: 65%
This series had lots of potential, but, well, it got wasted. The Ugly Duckling’s transformation concept has been a fun premise done in lots of film and this anime has taken it to quite an extreme point in that Sunako is more than just the unglamorous girl – she’s downright creepy (in an amusing manner) with her obsession with Gory Horror flicks and occult elements. Now here’s the problem. The side cast was pathetic, and the situation revolving round the guys (“reverse harem") was equally so; the comedy was way too slap-stick to my liking. This was a real shame, because the gags which were centered on Sunako herself were really well done. It’s the comedy focused on the guys that ruined things on the overall. The guys were meant to have Sunako metamorphosize into a Lady, but all they achieved was the degradation of the show. Oh, the irony.
Characters/Dev: 73%
Sunako’s not just the star of the series; she’s also the saving grace and the one responsible for preventing this series from falling. However, the over emphasis on the guys practically almost ruined it all. Or rather, to be more specific, I felt that the scripting for them just wasn't that good. For example, Ouran High School Host Club, which has a similar situation, was way more successful (and entertaining) in how they showcased the guys, who were also meant to play out to their designated archetypes. Well, I guess it also means that the Host Club members manage to play out their roles without being lame or dry. Sure, seeing Sunako going kickass mode, acting creepy in chibi form, getting excited over occult stuff was really amusing, but well, like I said, the other part of the series, which is the paper cut-out fangirls, over exaggerated expressions and actions of the guys were all too slapstick. And oh, they seriously should just kick out the Goth Trio. They were redundant and annoying, to say the least. That aside, Sunako scenes were the only ones in which I have no complains, only praises.
Animation/Graphics/Design: 65%
Sunako going badass was awesome. Other than that, the art quality was rather mediocre, like how the background characters were merely cardboard cut-outs (which further made it more slap-stick (and cheap) than it already was).
Music: 63%
The music was just alright, quite average really, so nothing much to comment on.
Summary:
Despite the mediocre rating of 7, I’ll still recommend others give this series a try: just watching Sunako’s screen time was worth it. This once again brings to my point which I can’t stress enough, and that is really, this series has lots of potential and might have been better if done by Ouran’s style of humor.
Personal overall rating: 70%

Story - 9
The Wallflower is about four handsome boys who live in a mansion together. The landlord makes a deal to lower their rent if they can turn her niece into a proper lady from her present dark self.
Animation - 9
This series has one of the most interesting animation styles I've seen but it works very well with the series. The characters are drawn as chibi frequently and even stick figures a few times; it helps add to the comedy aspect greatly.
Sound - 9
This series has very nice music and sound effects that go great with the darkness and brightness of the series. I especially like the intro song, "Slow" by Kiyoharu.
Characters - 10
This series has very interesting characters, all five of the main characters have different personalities which complement each other well. Sunako, the landlord's niece is a very unique character which develops very nicely over the series.
Overall - 9
A very entertaining reverse harem. I highly recommend it if you like random high school comedies with a serious side.

This anime had much potential in it, though it didn't quite reach the point.
I first watched this anime because I knew that my brother had shown me the manga a few years ago (Perfect Girl Evolution), although he never read it himself.
Animation:
The series slacked off on much of the animation, often using, say, identical white figures to represent the characters, which were only differentiated by their voices. The background didn't really stand out.
Sunako, the main girl, was mostly portrayed in her chibi form throughout the entire series, though this greatly emphasized the times that she was, indeed, drawn properly, which she needn't be concerned about throughout the series - she looks both beautiful and cool, especially in the last part of the last episode. Unfortunately, I think these moments were a bit lacking in the entire series.
The boys, on the other hand, were, basically, pretty boys, especially Kyouhei. They were drawn well, but unfortunately, I must complain about their lips, which somehow looked as if they had a slight shade of lipstick on. This didn't combine greatly with the fact that they already looked quite like girls.
The main ladies, such as Noichi, Sunako's aunt, and Ranmaru's fiancee, were also drawn nicely, though I can't say much for most of the other characters, who looked either like blobs or were drawn sloppily.
Sunako's facial expressions, especially the scary ones, were priceless. They did, in fact, look... quite quite frightening.
Comedy / Storyline: The storyline is simple, allowing for much comedy to ensue. A unique factor about Shichihenge was its "How to Become a Lady" that popped up in each (or almost every) episode, which gave brief tips on how to "be like a lady".
There wasn't much of an ending, as expected, like Ranma 1/2's ending.
The first few episodes of this series were priceless in their comedic factor. Afterwards, a string of redundancy occurred: The same comedic storyline kept happening and happening. A few other elements warded me off as well:
1) The Goth-Loli Sisters: These parasitic, identical people with different hairstyles and hair colors who basically stalked the four main boys (especially Kyouhei) popped up in every single episode, like an estranged Team Rocket that just got tiring after the first few views. They sometimes were thrown away, or they flew into the sky and left a star, or whatever. Their signature "Goth Goth Loli Loli" didn't help either: their deep voices fit the somewhat stalking image, but like these sisters just became plain annoying after a while.
2) Chasing After Kyouhei: Poor Kyouhei - even though Ranmaru and the others are quite popular as well, people (yes, both boys AND girls) seem to go after him the most. This, of course, is one of the repeated storylines: Kyouhei is kidnapped quite a bit during the series.
3) Overuse of Chibi: I admit I'm not too much of a fan of chibi, but I am aware that chibi is often used for comedy. However, quite a bit of the animation was replaced by chibi or stick figures or white blobs or whatever else. Some chibi is fine, but I think they overdid it a little bit in this series.
4) Repeated Reactions to the Boys: Okay; I understand that the males and Noichi (as well as some other people) in this series are supposed to be beautiful and like models. Practically everyone says that; you hear it at least several times in the series. Sunako basically had nosebleeds all over the place. I liked how they sometimes overemphasized the males' "beauty" in the series by putting sparkles all over the place, though.
5) Sunako's Aunt With Her Big Laugh Coming in All Sorts of Random Vehicles, Including Helicopters and Race Cars: Enough said.
Other factors I don't really remember at the time.
Characters: What character development?
I admit there was at least a bit with Sunako, who turned softer by the end of the series and perhaps Kyouhei, but as for the other characters, they just seemed like side puppets. The series tries to go into each characters' past, but does a vague job of explaining any at all, leaving many holes. Of course, this series isn't about the characters; it's about the comedic factor.
Sounds/Music: I didn't find anything particularly attractive about the OP/ED, though a few BGM caught my attention.
Sunako's voice acting was pretty good: She had much versatility, from quiet and sweet to a "I WILL KILL YOU!" sort of tone.
Overall: A unique series with much potential that needs more work.

This is an anime that grew on me over time. When I first started to watch this, I only got 2 episodes in, and became irritated by it, and didn't end up finishing it. However based on some strong recommendations by people I trust, I decided to give this series another chance. I am so glad I did. This series, once I actually gave it a chance, has become one of my all time favorite anime series.
Everything about this show is perfect. The story, which while following the manga doesn't do so slavishly, the music which is terrific, and even the chibi elements. At times its irritating how Sunako is always in chibi mode, but it makes the times she isn't, more enjoyable somehow. The art is about the only thing in this show that I have to say is about average.
Finally, the voice acting, particularly for Sunako is unbelievably good. I cannot even say how impressed I am with the Seiyuu who does Sunako. All the little squeeks, and noises she does seemed perfect for Sunako. Everything is perfect about her performance. The others did an excellent job as well.
Overall I give this show my highest recommendation. I cannot think of many series that I have enjoyed, or re-watched more then this one. Its hilarious throughout and worth giving a try. Or more then one if you are like me.

This review is based on the first 23 episodes!
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is by far a unique series. It’s not like anything you have seen. By that I mean it’s not typical.
Plot: You have 4 dazzling young men that look like they came from heaven leaving in a mansion. The owner of that mansion, a lady, asks them a favor in return of free rent. Of course they all accept to help.
The problem is that they are asked to do the impossible. They need to live with a young lady and turn her from a beast into a lady. That girl is Sunako-chan and she could even scare the devil himself.
Just imagine what the guys are going through. Of course after a certain point you will start to get a feeling that romance will take place but I won’t tell you anything more.
Despite the plot I just gave you, the anime is filled with messages about always being yourself and about the importance of family and friends.
Characters : The characters are all very well developed. As the series go you get to see each one of them and learn their past and how they became the person they are today. But that happens in an interesting way and you will not get bored, not once. They are different and they all have their own unique talent and way to make you laugh.
Sound : The effects, the sounds and the music were all amazing in my opinion. Just like Ouran Host Club was.
Animation : Some say that they don’t like the big lips that the characters have. Well I say "you will get used to it". It’s nothing. But the whole animation in full is amazing. Sunako-chan is seen mostly in her Chibi form and that makes it awesome when she turns into her normal form. The comedy of this anime also comes because of the hilarious animation. Especially when the guys are getting scared of Sunako.
Overall I give this anime 9/10 for originality and the overflowing comedy that really is amazing. Enjoy this anime. You really don't want to miss it!
ANIME APPROVED !!!!

Story : it all starts by having 4 handsome guys who need to change an ugly girl, Sunako, into a lady. At first I thought that this anime would be very boring if it has 25 episodes only to change an ugly girl into a lady but I was so wrong , the whole series kept me entertained to the end. There are some scenes where it was boring , sometimes the jokes were stupid and the story was VERY slow but because of its humour and a good story for each episode I can forgive that. Many say this looks like Ouran High School Host Club... This isn't true at all, yeah, this anime has rich boys and a one girl character, but the ugly girl, Sunako is very different from Haruhi.
Characters : you get to know each character's past but they don't have much screen time as Sunako and Kyouhei , I absolutely love Sunako. The rest of the characters are nice except the Gothli or whatever the name is, they are very annoying in the show... this is the only thing I didn't like about this anime,
Animation : great animation , the animation didn't bother me much, it might seem weird at the first episode but you'll get used to it.
Audio : great voice acting ! (I didn't pay attention to the music ...^^;)
Overall great anime , if you can accept some boring parts , stupid jokes and love comedy with romance this anime is for you.
If you liked School Rumble and Azumanga Daioh than you'll like this too.

I wasn't really sure about this anime at first, since I thought it was gonna be another Ouran High School Host Club copy. Even so I was bored and needed some sort of entertainment. Little did I know that the anime would turn out so well, it really was a surprise.
The plot itself is a little reckless, since it really focuses on beauty and **sparkles**, but that's the whole fun of it. Having a young girl move into a huuuuuge mansion with four stunning ''beautiful creatures'' is simply too good to be true! How else would it be better to become a lady when the four guys around you are women know-it-alls and sometimes, ones themselves! ;)
The characters are very well developed and its always a bonus to have a lolita boy around PLUS a whole group of ugly Goth lolis trying to grab the hearts of the beautiful creature! It's nice for a change to have the main character, Sunako, to be such a gloomy, scary and off the rack person. because she really brings an element to the anime itself. Each of the guys also have their personal characteristics and personality though they are also very typical of shoujo animes, violent, playboy, anti-social and adorable. But it just wouldn't be funny without them!
The animation really isn't that bad either! The beautiful are certainly drawn very beautifully and when the time comes that sunako switches to her insane self, she certainly looks frightening. But the animation is also the point of hilarity, because of certain moments when characters become chibi-fied etc etc
The music is also pretty much okay, so there really isn't anything to stop you from watching this anime! I would recommend.
