Synopsis : Yoshimori is a descendant of Kekkaishi. He's responsible for eliminating dangerous ayakashi (spirits) to another world. However, Yoshimori has no motivation to continue this strenuous training. This gives his neighbour, Tokine, the advantage of capturing the ayakashi. Yoshimori couldn't care less about losing to a girl, that is, until a foul mistake leads to a near-death experience for Tokine.
5 years later...
Although they're rivalling neighbours, Yoshimori still cares for Tokine, and ever since Tokine was hurt by the ayakashi, Yoshimori swore that he would train hard to be a good Kekkaishi. Not because it's part of the family line, it's so he will become stronger, to protect those from getting hurt again.

Kekkaishi is a good anime that is entertaining to watch and easy to get hooked on. The humor in Kekkaishi is not witty but is certainly worth a chuckle at times. The plot progression could have been smoothed out; the first few episodes didn't move the story nearly as much as they should have and the last few episodes felt like they were trying to tie up too much.
This anime is very light and enjoyable. If you are watching serious or heavy anime such as Shigurui or Monster this anime can be a great "break" anime to escape from the heft of the plots.
All in all, Kekkaishi doesn't go too deep and won't dazzle watches but is definitely worth a watch when you're bored.

Finally finished watching all the episodes and each one was just as exciting as the next!
Story 8/10
The story is about a boy and girl who have been childhood friends from rival families. But no, the rivalry is there to just provide some comic relief and its really fun to watch! The main story is actually about Yoshimori and Tokine protecting a spiritual land. There are a couple of mysterious organizations whos intentions are not entirely know, and the plot thickens..
Characters 10/10
All the characters in the show are the true life of this anime, and you can really feel for them. Yoshimori is surrounded by a wide variety of people. You get to find out about their back stories and they are really interesting and enjoyable.
Music 8/10
Sound effects and background music etc was quite fitting. The opening and ending songs were also fun to listen to. There are about 3 endings I believe which are rotated through out the series, so its kind of exciting to see which one each episode will have.
Animation 10/10
Animation is top notch, the fights are really fluid. The character models were a bit unique but likable.
I was happy to see that the anime was a bit unique. If I had to compare I'd say the anime was a bit like Naruto, but only the character themes I mean. This is a really enjoyable show, each episode is worth looking forward to.
My most favorite thing about this show was that even in the most serious of episodes you would still get a chance to laugh!
So try out this anime and have a good time...

I watched it through to chapter 15 and I liked it!
This anime is meant for all of the good old fashioned anime lovers out there...
OK, it starts kind of slow and looks just like any other action-fantasy anime, but soon enough I learned that actually the show has more feel to it then I thought it would, somewhere around episode 10 the plot gets a well deserved boost and introduces us to new characters that will continue to develop the story.
This review is for episode 1-15
Animation:8.7-very good, but the background could change more often, though the battle scene's are made almost perfectly...
Story:8.5-the story is simple not hard to understand and they are interesting in the way that they tell it. Good introduction and character development
Music:7.8-it's OK but not too exiting, no complaints although it would be nice if they add more tracks...
Over all for now, I give it an 9 for the vibe, the production, and effort.

Kekkaishi is an odd yet enjoyable anime. Its very creative and yet, the story, hasn’t progressed much in 35 episodes.
Characters: 9/10
Characters featured in Kekkaishi, are very charming and deep, at the same time.
The main protagonist is Yoshimori, A lazy boy, that in his shoulders is the weight of an entire royal family. He had do endure harsh training, because, he is like a powerhouse with no control. The other co-protagonist, Tokine, is completely the opposite of Yoshimori, (consider the fact that she also comes from a royal family, but Yoshimori’s family and Tokine’s family hate their guts). She 2 years older than Yoshimori, she’s a competent and smart girl, but her weakness is completely different from Yoshimori’s, she has absolute control over her power, but has very little of it. Later on, other characters are introduced, but I am not mentioning them, since it could contain spoilers
Story 7.5/10
So Tokine and Yoshimori are Kekkasihi, a sort of clan that has as a mission protect a sacred land, ironically located under their school. A lot of monsters try to go EVERY night and take control of it, Its up to those 2, to use their talent (Making a Barrier around them, then vanishing them to bits) and protect this land. But as the monsters are very different each fight, it get dull fighting in the SAME PLACE, over and over and over, and never getting any ware. NOW it is when the story starts to flesh, after 35 episodes.
Music 8/10
Music does a great job in creating the atmosphere, but it gets repetitive sometimes. A new soundtrack would be welcome.
Animation 10/10:
Its completely beautiful, especially in the fights, you just got to go see it for yourself.
Overall Kekkaishi needs patience. Because episode releases are VERY slow, and when finally an episode is released, you just keep waiting for the story to develop, and get frustrated. But if you overcome this, the anime is pretty good, and even lovable.

I've seen this anime up till episode 12 and I love it!! Although the story so far is nothing difficult to understand, it is still good enough to make you keep watching another episode. I think a good way to compare it is that it has some small similarities to Bleach when it comes to seeing ghosts and destroying demons but if Bleach is, say for 16 and up, Kekkaishi should be from 14 and up. It's not that it is extremely childish but it doesn't have the mature jokes as Bleach and the violence is less and not really an important aspect. They have plenty of actio,n but not that much blood to make unsuitable for younger audience.
There is also plenty of humor in this anime so far and a cute romantic aspect that needs more developing in future episodes.
I think if a person likes to watch anime similair to Bleach or Naruto this is a kind of anime you can watch when you want to switch to something else as a break without being completely absorbed by the story. You'll at least enjoy this anime for sure!

So far I have watched up to episode 13.
I liked this anime straight away when I saw the first episode.
The main part of the story is about Yoshimori and Tokine who are some kind of Ghostbusters. They possess special abilities to create magical fields to trap monsters and then kill them. They have to head out every night to hunt down those evil spirits, therefore Yoshimori is always sleeping in class during the day. The monsters get with every episode stronger and more challenging. Yoshimori likes Tokine and wants to protect her, however as he is rather clumsy it often ends up her saving him. The longer the story goes the more you find out about Yoshimori’s and Tokine’s clans and that they have some kind of competition going on.
The graphics are state of the art and very nice to enjoy.
To sum it up, this is the perfect anime to come home from a hard day at school (yea right =)/work and just tune in and relax. The story is not very complex nor special, the characters are sometimes funny and a little stupid but not over the top.
The makers of this anime didn’t reinvent themselves; it is just plain old fashioned entertainment which is easy on the eye. Enjoy!

So far I have only watched two episodes, and I find it pretty good. I am looking forward to it, I think it might have a pretty good future.
I will try to give the best review I can with only the two episodes I have watched.
Characters: The two main characters Yoshimori, and Tokine both have pretty good personalitys, but it is sortove like any other anime at how the guy is all laid back, eats alot, and always in some laughable situation. While the girl is smart, good looking, and strong.
Anime: The art is really good, better than most anime. The setting for this anime is really great, and the background rocks because of the detail put into each location.
Honestly I would recomend it to alot of people, right now from judging it. I am not sure how it will turn out in the future and I am looknig forward to it.
