Year : 2007

Genre : Science-Fiction - Romance - Mecha - Adventure

Synopsis :
In ancient times, the beings called "the Golden Tribe" called out to other races in the universe to come from their native planets and expand throughout the universe. The ones to respond were the Silver Tribe, the insectoid Bronze Tribe, the powerful Hero Tribe and, after some time, humanity: the Iron Tribe. The Golden Tribe then took upon a single human child to be raised among them, one who would inherit their knowledge and the legacy of the now extinct Hero Tribe, and who would give the universe to mankind.

However, the Silver Tribe has taken control of the universe after the Golden Tribe's departure. Outmatched by its power and that of the Bronze Tribe, mankind is now fighting a losing battle for survival. In a desperate effort to find their savior, the human Princess Deianeira and the crew of the Argonaut arrive to the ruined planet Oron, where they encounter Age, a simple, young and cheerful wild boy living in a wrecked starship which he believes is his mother.

After proving himself as the last of the Nodos, Age joins Deianeira in the fight for mankind's future against the Silver Tribe, the Bronze Tribe, and the other four remaining remaining Nodos, who also wield the power of the Hero Tribe.

I do not often find a show that I like as much as this one.

In theater there is a ending called a dues ex machina, or god from the machine. In this show there seems to be many instances where that type of ending is used for a conflict. The difference in this show is that when it is used it does not seem to be out of place or disrupt the flow of the story. It also does not create plot holes that are so prevalent when it is usually used in other stories or shows.

The music is perfect for the show. I liked both the opening and closing theme songs as well as the story music. Everything seemed to flow very well.

Epic shows often have some serious issues about story flow as well as problems maintaining character balance while giving them the powers that are required for an epic. Here I find it pulled off flawlessly.

The animation and visuals for the most part are both creative and visually pleasing.

The story itself follows a best ending route which almost always are the ones that I like the best.

Overall unless you hate mecha of any sort then I would recommend this touching and uplifting show. I think that I may have found a mecha show that I like even better than Soukou no Strain.

Wow... Just plain wow

There's probably a whole bunch of you who don't really know about Heroic Age or simply didn't want to try another mech anime. I can understand, but just because it says mecha dosen't mean anything. Let's just put this in a nice and well known way. Don't judge a book by its cover. Heroic Age, really didn't surprise me when I watched it cause I heard a lot of good things about it from friends and reviews alike, and while this really doesn't get close to TTGL in terms of Epicness it really hit the nail here. Set way in the future, this anime features huge space battles along with even more bigger and destructive mech/monster fights known as Nodos (only cause I don't know if they were mechs or somthing else). Which the Nodos are part of a extinct (from what I could tell) race that the golden race (dudes in golden clothing, ancient power yadda yadda yadda) put in 5 different races in 5 different people.

Story: Starts off with the Iron Race (Humanity) finds lone human on planet (aka Age), being chased by evil people Silver and Bronze Age (silver looks human, bronze looks like a evil bug pokemon...^^), Age the human they find has power of Heroic Race and there goes the story of Humanities fight to survive and find the hidden power of the Golden Race in which was left behind when they left the Universe to go to another.

Characters: Quiet the load of characters here, nice amount of cast that each had their own unique spots, Age is one of a kind type of guy... in a way cause he'es like a monkey (or so they say cause he reminds me of something else hehe). There were a few faults though that I didn't like, well got me angry is to be exact. The princess chick is really emotional, the Silver Race just wouldn't shut up about human extermination without a reason and more... I wouldnt really put these as a minus since I can tell this is what they were aiming for.

Animation: Pretty cool, reminds me a Gundam Seed since they all look like characters from it. The Fight scenes were awsome... yet why did they have to repeat certain scenes??? (Not as bad as Gundam though) The fight between the Nobos are just awesome, blowing up planets and destroying whole armies hehehe. I wish I could do that.

Sound: Nothing bad here yet nothing good, I didn't really even listen to the Openings and endings since when I listened the first time it just didn't interest me. Wish they had more battle music though it felt like they ran out of ideas for it I mean it was like I heard 6 different songs (besides the Opening and endings) and that's it????? Well w/e its not like the music was bad since I did have them stuck in my head.

Overall: Really Interesting which I felt at times this anime was more for kids than anything else (the emotional parts and music do this argh!!!), it still had its fair share of good stuff though. I was really into this anime so much though that I stopped watching all other animes and stopped reading mangas for this... yeah it was that cool/good. I mean sure it has its faults but I really didn't want to watch or do anything else after the first episode. 9/10

This definitely isn't your average mech anime, it goes above and beyond it with a good story excellent setting (the whole universe to add). If you wanted mech (sorta) action then this is for you!!! ...DOOD...

I must admit I was quite surprised by Heroic Age. At first I took it for another typical Mech-anime. But what I witness is a classical space opera anime.

Yes, you will find mech in the anime, but in the same sense you found some in Escaflowne many years ago. Mech are a part of the universe and not the topic of the anime. This leads to the epic tale told in this anime. A grand scope leading across the galaxy where humanity fights for a chance. A chance to survive, but also to inherit the faith of the galaxy. Battle are grandiose and not too repetitive, the story flows quite well and we are not pushed around by fillers.

Production values are also quite top notch for Heroic Age. Animation is strong and stable all season long. CGI is very well done, althought the mix between 3D and 2D is sometime handled with difficulty. Sound effect and music are both top notch. Music as a incredibly powerfull main theme and you'll find it in subtle variations all anime long. Music is also well placed and gives a great emotional background to the story.

The only drawback I could think of is the characters are sometime a little shallow. They are presented with a set of characteristics and they won't evolve all that much trought the series.

In conclusion, Heroic Age is defenitly an great epic sized anime. Fans of science-fiction will definitly find something to be loved in this unnexpected anime.

Story 7/10: Great story development and plot design. It's a mecha series that has a twist with interesting battles that feel they actually have a significance. However, I find that a lot of story elements are not explained. Such as: what's the time-line, what's the significance of every race and sub-race.

Visuals 9/10: The CG design in this anime is awesome, one of the best I've seen so far; the visual quality is what you would consider movie quality, and is consistent throughout the entire series.

Sound 7/10: Sound is very high quality, it's well done and feels like it belongs in the environment; However, the music track is very limited and re-used over and over.

Characters 8/10: The character development is well thought-out; However, it is only for a few plot-affecting characters. Some characters you can get attached to (ex: Age, his light-hearted attitude is something everyone would enjoy), and some are just very annoying to watch. Also, I have a problem with the introduction random introduction of characters that have no significance till until the writer feels that he/she needs to be significant.

Overall 7/10: This anime has great potential with stunning visuals and a unique storyline that could become so much more; but, the writers don't seem up to the challenge. Recommended Watch: Mecha Lovers Only

Heroic is a very entertaining mecha series

Plot is oiginal Basically aliens have come to take over the universe, and after finding a long lost power the humans decide to fight back. But, the power is a person not a tool and is used in not the best way.

Music is good But, like the Final Fantasy 10 game it only has three different tracks.

Art is superb. All characters and details are made nicely. No two characters have the same qualities, the nodos are made to seem not of this world, and their power goes well with the feeling.

I start by saying this is one of my favourite animes so far, so iI may be partial in my review... ;)

Strong points- the animation is very good, the soundtrack adapts to the battle scenes very well, the story is interesting so far (after ep.12) and leaves you wanting for more after each episode, the hero (age) is different from the typical troubled wimp who pilots a mecha for no good reason and doesn't know what to do next, this one knows what to do, doesn't ask stupid questions and actually makes the story progress instead of just going with the flow... so it's quite refreshing.

Bad points- well, the animation style is not typical, so it may seem strange, but you´ll get used to it, also, the story is not something totally unseen (things like mechas, space battles and mankind threatened of extinction...) but so far is unpredictable, which is very good in anime.

So, overall... a must watch for anime fans...
(told you I would be partial ^^)

Heroic Age, is an anime I've been searching for. It has action, wonderful story, war, Mecha, and a breathtaking soundtrack.

The storyline is similar to other animes out there. But why I like it, is because the hero is not the guy who is always caught up in annoying triangles; Like "who should I join? I am so confuse? who is the good guy? who is the bad guy?" The hero in this anime, knows his mission and knows what he is supposed to do. It's a very straight forward anime, and it always teases you at the end, making you want to watch the next episode.

I like animes with a good soundtrack, and this anime it perfect. It has this orchestra theme in every episode that always sends chills running through your spines. I also like the opening and ending theme song as well.

The character design may not interest some people, but trust me just watch this anime. You'll learn the accept it, just like me.

I like this anime, I have been watching animes since the early 90's. So I am quite picky when it comes to watching animes. This anime is one of a kind, and will certainly be added to my collection list.

enjoy watching this anime.
