After an excellent first two seasons, Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo fails to build on top of it.
One unfortunate thing about the 3rd season is the lack of progress. 3rd season shows the same formula and it is starting to feel old. The order of Louise and Saito showing uncertaintity in their relationship, building of political plot, Saito and Louise going on adventure together and saving the day; few details might be different, but the overall picture is identical to first two seasons.
Overall, that's what the 3rd season feels like. Same old Zero no Tsukaima.
What the 3rd season needed was some kind of change and progress. It needed to take it to the next level, but unfortunately what it tried to do is just a repeat of what they have done so far.
Due to that reason, much of the plot feels forced. No longer do the relationship problems and couples' fighting seem cute anymore. Many of the cute moments in the first 2 seasons are still here, but the situation between the two characters aren't natural anymore, so it no longer looks cute. In 3rd season, Louise is starting to get annoying with her antics and their cute relationship starts feeling more frustrating than anything. All because it lost that "natural progress" type of feeling.
Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo has its moments, but those moments no longer feels special. It looks like it lost that touch of magic. Hopefully in the 4th season, they can get that magic back.

On its own, Princess no Rondo deserves a higher rating. But when I compare it to Season 2, I can't in good conscience give it any more than 6 stars. The only really interesting plot thread arises and is resolved in the first 4 episodes. After that, they really just throw in a lot of eye candy and light ecchi. Basically this is a 'fluff' season, kind of like FMP Fumoffu. Now, I'll concede that Fumoffu was great, but it's the exception, not the rule. Saito and Louise's relationship hardly advances; you could even argue that it takes a step back. I realize that this is common in anime; writers seem to be of the opinion that if they allow characters' relationships to advance too much (or at all), then people will lose interest and quit watching (not that I agree with this point of view). But that is no excuse for a season of mostly filler episodes that fail to further the story outside the characters' relationship struggles.

Zero no Tsukaima returns for a third season, which is more or less just a repetition of the previous seasons: similar plot progress, just with different characters and events. Some other exceptions will be that the third season is not as dark as season 2 and is more on reverting to the light mood of season 1—which is a great thing. Saito and Louise’s Master/Slave-Love relationship (oh wait, that sounds wrong) are still pretty hilarious. So yes, there’s nothing particularly new here. However, on the overall, the third season is still just as enjoyable as the previous seasons so I’m not going to be too critical on its originality. But oh, if there’s going to be season 4, I hope that they, at the very least, don’t add any more traitors to the storyline and also to stop increasing the number of Saito’s harem. Throwing in the Dragon as having a human form was quite ridiculous and rather pointless too. Season 3 is probably my limit for the repetition: I get the feeling that I’ll get bored if season 4 (if there is one— which I think is highly possible) plan to follow the same routine. Art and music styles are still the same, so nothing much to say there. In short, obviously a must watch for those who have enjoyed the title so far.

Storyline/Plot: 8/10
The story of Zero no Tsukaima continues with the addition of two new characters, Tiffania Westwood (the elf) and Irukuku (Human form of Tabitha's Nature Dragon). This time, the main story revolves around Tabitha's evil uncle's plot to conquer other kingdoms. Having said that, the story was hindered by lots of comedy. The addition of Tiffania and Tabitha as Louise's love rivals just adds on to the fun and laughter of this anime (which wasn't bad since this is a love/comedy anime). More information about void magic and the elves were also revealed along the way.
Character development: 8.5/10
The two new characters were give sufficient time to show their personalities. With the large cast of characters and the limited amount of episodes, many side characters were not given much attention. Louise's and Saito's relations remains quite the same.
Animation/Graphics: 9/10
There was plenty of fanservice in this season as well. The use of vibrant colors for the background graphics remains the same with lots of details on the scenery. Character design and battle scenes were well done.
Music/Songs: 9/10
The opening theme "YOU'RE THE ONE" by ICHIKO was average while the ending theme "Gomen ne" by Rie Kugimiya was pleasant. The BGM was about the same as the previous two seasons.
Overall: 9/10
The third season of Zero no Tsukaima remains as entertaining as always with simple plots and tons of comedy and fanservice. However, I feel that more should be added into this 'formula' to spice up the overall experience. I did enjoy watching this rather lighthearted anime and I really enjoyed listening to Kugimiya Rie's cute voice.

This anime consists of three seasons in which each is approximately 12 episodes. I was drawn towards it because it is a magical themed anime - using magic, wands, elements, and stuff. Similar but less complex and entertaining than Harry Potter, Zero no Tsukaima entices your magical senses in a unique way by attempting to connect the real world with the magical one. The colours used in the anime were very vibrant and pleasing, which gave it a cheerful and encouraging mood. The beautiful and matching colours are what I particularly liked about it. Apart from that, there is also a rather engaging storyline, beautiful and cute characters, detailed art, cute and funny scenarios, and a generally pleasing ending (although there is still no absolute ending). Despite its repetitive humor, relatively irritating characters(Louisr – the main character), and insensible character actions, Zero no tsukaima still proves to be a very fun anime to watch. The first season was great, but throughout the seasons, more and more ecchiness appears, more and more senselessness is portrayed, and the main character gets more and more irritating. I like every other character other than the main character, which ruins it all. I find it a pity that the creators seem to focus on such futile stuff when they have an idea and story with such great potential. I even like the maid better.

Lets begin from the beginning...
I think it's a great third season.
I saw the first and second season and I wasn't disappointed about the third one.
So let's see. This third season is about friendship, love, and cuteness mainly :). Like the first two.
But it shows more likely the friendship and how they unite to help each other.
But yeah sure there is the good old Saito and the cute Luise.
Their relationship doesn't really evolve much, but they have their moments. :P
We can see the princes in a more human light- it's very good, I think.
It has lot of surprises that I really enjoyed.
Why i didn't give it a 10???
Because the ending was a bit disappointing, especially after the second season's ending that I loved so much.
Conclusion:It's a great anime, so don't miss it. ;)

Note that I also rate animes based on how well they do in their respective spheres. Zero no Tsukaima is no masterpiece, but it's up there when one considers the "cute" series.
Whereas the second season concentrated more on a darker side of the series, Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo reverts back to the original lighthearted tone of the series.
I honestly didn't really see much of an improvement with the series' third season. With each installment, the anime seems to concentrate more on fan service and adding new girls to Saitou's harem. Saitou and Louise's relationship, on the other hand, is focused on, but it doesn't really develop.
And what storyline? The animators could have focused on the storyline just a tiny bit more than they did, instead of focusing too much on the lightheartedness and some other side storylines that did not really contribute to the plot (except to make more girls fall in love with Saitou). A plot is certainly there, but that "same" one has been present the past two seasons.
(At least it's not a rehash of Inu Yasha, which took so many episodes to achieve an ambiguous ending.)
This series introduced another likable character: Tiffania. However, after her spotlight in the first few episodes, she was sort of cast aside as (you guessed it) a form of fan service. She could have contributed much more to the plot otherwise, considering the idea that she's pretty powerful as a half-elf mage. Furthermore, her shy-girl personality seemed much more appealing than many of the other new and old female characters, especially Siesta. She was tolerable in the first season, but once the studio "switched her on," she became oh-so-annoying. Who knows how much she has been competing with Louise (with her only advantage)?
I didn't really care for the new opening and ending songs, and BGM from the previous seasons was reused.
Zero no Tsukaima did much better than its first season, and perhaps better than its second, but the increase of fan service and females swooning over Saitou is starting to become repetitive.

This anime is at its third season and I never imagined that a harem anime can improve the way Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo has. Many of the flaws I found in the second season have disappeared. In fact this season overshadows the previous seasons in almost every respect. Highly recommended
The story is much more simple and focused. This season is about friendship and what it means to stick by your friend. Never once did it stray from this theme. I despised the whole "For Queen and Country" idea that is present in the second season because it was packed at the end and was never developed. The immaturity shown by Saito and his pathetic arguments also didn't help. Bravo to the writers of this season for delivering a good consistent plot. In the third season Saito got it right and did he ever shine. His words resonated and I find I could relate to them. The same can be said about Louise. Her powers and relationship has been allowed to blossom.
Right from the beginning the relationship of Louise and Saito is prioritized. While I cringed at the character assassination of Siesta but seeing the chemistry of Louise and Saito made it all worth it. I enjoyed watching the insecurity portrayed by Louise. It is great comedy, and at the same time made Louise a very well portrayed character. The scene involving Queen Henrietta in the Masquerade party is one important example that made me conclude this anime has drastically improved.
The comedy is as funny as ever. Saito adds new women to his harem but heck all they do is add more to the fun.
Music is another category that I think deserves mentioning. The third season introduced some melodies that are spectacular. I strongly recommend listening to Koitte Modakashii and Lost in Love.
Lastly, why not 10? The main reason is that the finale is too rushed. It needed a second episode. They were squeezing a fight that should have taken a whole episode into five minutes. All the actions and dialogues seemed to have an accelerated feel. In one minute Saito can't dent the bad guy's armor; in the next he suddenly can; then another minute later an artillery can't dent the bad guy; and so on. Overall the ending is satisfying but they could have done much better.
I once considered Zero no Tsukaima the dumb blonde's Shakugan no Shana. I am sorely mistaken. With such an improvement Shakugan no Shana is the hillbilly cousin. Hence 9/10
