I couldn't belive how low score this anime had 'cos i realy liked it. It wasn't anything epic but still very good anime. It felt like a mix of Sola, welcome to NHK, Genshiken and Stephen Kings. It with some huge swords and big breasted anime women.
The reason why some might not like this anime was maybe because this anime combines many different genres together so it has a slight identity problem and the ending seemed a bit rushed. But I only see this as a good thing 'cos I don't when the ending feel dragged. If you know what I mean.
Animation was good but nothing special so I give it. 8/10
Music/VA was solid quality. 8/10
Story: Though it was a bit confusing and felt a bit unfinished I realy liked it. I won't spoil anything. It felt unique, though it didn't have anythigh new to offer. It take good ideas from other animes and combined them into a new anime. 9/10
Overall: It's hard to explain why you like one anime and not the other but this anime had inner charm that made me like it. So remember, don't be confused by three dimensional girls and give this anime a chance. 8/10

Initially, I really looked forward to watching this series. I do enjoy shows from the Mystery genre and I’ve heard quite a few praises for Chaos;Head being unique in terms of storyline and that it’s a rather profound series. Sadly, as I soon found out, it was not so.
Story: 45%
Chaos;Head is indeed just like its title-- though in a bad sense. The again, how good can a show be if it’s described as being chaotic? There were way too many problems with this series. The most obvious, is it being a series with a very disastrous identity crisis. The first few episodes took on an interesting point of view, through the use of a reliably unreliable narrator, similar to how Higurashi is done. It’s a good card to play, having the audience confounded and wondering which part was “real? and which was merely him being delusional. Then suddenly, this series lost its head and derailed to the good-vs-evil plot that was so generic, it’s more enjoyable (and also rewarding) watching mainstream shounen series. By around the 4th episode, I was already exasperated by the plot inadequacies.
I’ll never forget the plot devices in the series. Till Chaos;Head, I doubt I’ve ever seen such a high concentration of ridiculous and incoherent plot twists in a series. What an insult to the term deus ex machina! Worst of all, was the ending in which it seemed that it tried to play on symbolism and philosophical questions. It shall suffice to say that I found it to be pretentious and does not sound the least bit intelligent. So, from a psychological-thriller to abruptly and blatantly switch to typical sci-fi settings, then try to end off with a seemingly deep and though-provoking conclusion? Original? This series? All I saw was storms of clichés clumped together, all the while expanding on the gaping plot holes. Truly an utterly chaotic mess of bullock. The only reason I actually finished this series, instead of dropping it right from the start was because of curiosity: how they were going to wrap all the nonsense. Well, apparently they didn’t. Because the story had no resolution. Defeating the villain may have solved some problems, but it definitely didn't answer the questions in the early part of the series, making it even more useless than the first episode of Ga-Rei: Zero, which was entertaining at the very least.
Characters: 25%
Equally horrendous, or perhaps worse, were the characters. True, I must admit that they had the best candidate for a protagonist. For a series that attempts to deal with the theme of the boundaries between fantasy and reality getting overlapped, it indeed was a smart move to get a delusional guy for the lead role. Sure, he’s detestable, but this was one of the cases where that is (sadly) the point. Unfortunately, you can’t get far with just that alone. As for the side cast, wow, they were disenchanting and soporific. For a series that promises complex plot with elements of mindscrew, it sure was anticlimactic to be given such a dreary cast. The villain made me cringe: awfully generic Mad Scientist. On a slightly unrelated note: featuring stereotypical cast of girls who flocked him despite him being a total loser who plays too much eroge. Is it supposed to be an anti-thesis or cynical dig of sort? But I digress.
Yeah, usually, I’ll want short series to be extended by several more episodes, or wish the series to be longer, to explore their characters in greater depth. In this case however, I rather not, for simply put, I have absolutely no interest in them, their goal, motivation or whatnot. The premise of the plot itself is unpromising to begin with. There’s no point to even try expanding on that. I’m not even motivated enough to play the Visual Novel.
Arts: 75%
The animation quality was good. Not outstanding, but still considerably good. Character designs were rather average though.
Music: 76%
The OP was pretty good. ED was average and same goes for the bgms.
Summary
To put it sarcastically, Chaos;Head is one big irony in several ways. After all, like I said before, this show couldn’t have a more befitting title. By the looks of it, the intended “chaos? was meant to refer to Takumi’s state of mind being the key point of the series. Sadly, the chaos simply ended up as to how disorganized the scripting is, and its severe lack of direction. I don’t know about others, but in my honest opinion, this series is far from deep and nowhere near being considered original. Period.
Personal Overall Rating: 30%
3/10, nothing more, only less.

Chaos;Head... Thinking back to the first half of the series, it felt slightly reminiscent of Interlude with its grand mysteries, its multitude of unanswered questions, and the constant wonder of what's real and whats not...
Sadly, that was all the entertainment value C;H offered... The reason for this lies purely in the answers given to all those questions. Calling them simple and underwhelming would be an understatement...
Perhaps if so many interesting and sophisticated ideas hadn't been planted in the first half, the last few eps wouldn't have come out so horribly.
On a lighter note tho... the OP was pretty catchy, and the animation was colorful and expressive.
It's a small series, and worth a quick watch if only for the chance to have your brain strained by the strange ideas and controversy thrown at you.

Chaos;Head wasn't very good... it just rolled downhill after the mid point. It gave a marvelous first impression. This anime was shrouded in mystery. It had great looking characters and a unique personality for the main character. Sadly, the storyline did not reach my expectations, it became very lackluster and poorly executed. The dilemma's were pitiful. Also, Chaos;Head produced the strangest harem I have ever seen.
Like I said before, I was very keen on watching this anime. I was impressed with a great OP, anime references (Takumi is an otaku), and great looking girls. The weapons look awesome and make the girls very cool. The New-Gen cases were pretty much murder mysteries. Dissociative Identity Disorder, Pre-cognitive abilities, theories of existentialism - all these were cool topics to gather. All sorts of answers were going through my head. I found that the mystery was very intruiging.
Alas, the answers given and the way these answers were portrayed was simply ridiculous. There were delusions upon delusions, with delusions growing on these delusions! The "climax" was laughable. I found that Chaos;Head tried to be something else - tried to sound intelligent by spewing out "the unknown" and whatever jargon associated with it. Attacking enemies became underwhelming. What ever happened to old fashioned slicing and dicing?
I do like how they brought on the question on: how do you know what's real? What if what we see is just from someone sending electric signals to a brain in a lab? The good OP, pretty characters, semi-funny interactions, murder-mystery, cool di-swords are the good points this anime has.
Sooo. Great start. I guess it looked superior when it continued to ask questions. Unfortunately, the answers given made it look stupid.
