Synopsis : Yuuhi accidentally bumps into two guys and they give excessive trouble once they find out she's cute. Luckily, a bystander was there to fend the guys off. Yuuhi gives the boy her thanks and asks for his name to thank him properly, but the boy doesn't give Yuuhi his name since he does not think the gesture is worth much.
Junichi, the boy that veered off the delinquents arrives home and immediately regrets asking for the girl's name. At school the next day, a new transfer student is introduced to his class. It is none other than the cute girl he met yesterday! The two, Junichi and Yuuhi, are both surprised to see each other which raises interest and increased suspicion of the relationship between the pair.
Yuuhi is swarmed with questions, especially on the subject of how she feels about Junichi. Her new classmates misinterpret her answers and she feels cornered. Junichi then arrives on the scenes and she pleads for him to clarify their relationship. As Junichi stands silently pondering just what she means, he makes the situation worse by kissing her!

Storyline/plot: 6.5/10
Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka's main focus was the relationship between Jun'ichi Nagase and the two female leads, Yuuhi Katagiri and Minato Nagase. The romance portion of th story is rather cliche while the comedy level was at most average. The beginning of every episode would be the adventure of The Nagases' parents which have little meaning (a bit entertaining though). Each episode does not really make much sense and were most of the time plain funny (This would have been a good point if the ending wasn't so serious and that a storyline seems to be hovering around). Giant octopus, giant robot and Jun'ichi's "Geno Killer" past were quite all right, not impressive though. The ending was average despite the twist (quite expected from the build up of the last few episodes). Overall, I find the storyline rather weak though it can be overlooked since this is a romance/comedy anime.
Character Development: 7/10
Hmm... the 3 main characters (Jun'ichi, Yuuhi and Minato) were given quite a bit of screentime yet there were many things (mostly their background history) left untold. There were too many side characters who seemed rather important yet were not given a chance to protray a unique personailty. This is most probably due to the short episode span.
One plus point is that all characters are pretty funny and adds to the comedy level.
Songs/music: 8/10
I do like the opening theme: "Hatsukoi Parachute" by Miyuki Hashimoto and all the ending themes sung by all the female characters' voice actress. BGM is average though.
Graphics/Animations: 9/10
Characters were beautifully drawn. Each female character has a different hair colour and style. There were enough details in the background. The octopus looks pretty ugly (not scary but plain ugly).
Overall:8/10
This anime is pretty funny and did entertain me when I was bored or when I wasn't looking for anything serious to watch. The first episode was great while some episodes just weren't that good. One of the major plus point of this anime is that it contains a great cast of Seiyuu such as Rie Kugimiya, Aya Hirano, Rie Tanaka etc. This anime may not be the best Romance/comedy anime but it is still an entertaining one.

I cant say too much on this.
Junichi is the name of a "delinquent" who faces a girl called Yuuhi at streets and saved her from guys that were teasing her. They didnt recall names and leave... then, at school, a new student is gonna be presented... guess what, yes, you answered correctly: Yuuhi, and when she sees Junichi.. they get a little surprised and blah blah blah.
All the story is bullshit. It's linear almost to the end (Trying to make Junichi and Yuuhi a couple). The surprise factor comes at hand during the last episodes, but bad choices were made there...
At the series we can see the pattern: Your typical plain girl (Yuuhi), the huge breasted one (Junichi's sister), and the boy between the triangle...
I enjoyed some episodes, but I must say that they weren't enough to give this a high note. Almost all episodes looked like fillers, without some incentive that makes you want to keep watching the series.
6/10. Average graphics, history that sucks, and average sound (I liked a bit the opening a bit).

If you've read my blog entry then you've seen ranting about how I disliked this show. I began to watch this after seen positive comments for the first episode, the interesting character designs (particularly Yuuhi's and Mitsuki's hair style), and the impressive VA cast. (like I've mentioned in my blog entry) There's also Hirohashi Ryou, one of my favourite voices in the industry, so yeah; I'm sold.
Other than the character designs and the VA cast, the over story is above average, with a pretty unique kind of happy ending, which I somewhat enjoyed. There are ten ending themes of this series, sung by each of 6 female characters in the story, and usually the singer of the ending theme voiced the most prominent female character in that episode. If you'd listen carefully, you'll see that most of them are actually pretty good. I only didn't like the ones sang by Katou Emiri, who voiced Karen. I disliked the OP though.
What goes wrong with this series began with the production values of the series. The animation quality is well below average, and there are too many horrible story elements worth more than a facepalm. This includes things like the Yuuhi's phobia of octopus, the giant octopus, the giant robot, Minato's superhuman powers, and most particularly the Karen-sponsored trips. The Karen episodes were painful to watch. There are many more of these cheap story elements throughout the series, though these are the more prominent ones. The build-up to the climax is too incoherent and cliched. And the Nagase parents, for the incredibly tiny role as a plot device at the end of the series, wastes lot of screen time in the earlier episodes.
The cute character designs are wasted on a series that makes fun of your intelligence.
Plot-wise: Slightly above average
Story Style: SHIT
Production Quality: Fair (Excellent for voice work and music, bad for animation)
Value: 3
