Kuroshitsuji is an engrossing anime that surprised me, being more enjoyable than it first seemed.

Story: 8/10 The story is very simple; a demon butler serving a twelve year old boy under a contract. The anime didn't pull me in really at first because it was completely random and the action scenes were slow paced. Right from the beginning the audience finds out that Sebastian, the butler, is no ordinary butler. While the story lacks some substance from the beginning, it starts to evolve into a more complicated and darker story that focuses a lot on Ciel Phantomhive's past, which kept the viewer interested to find out what really happened. It takes an unusually twisted turn in the middle that is rather dark for a comedy anime, though.

Characters: 7/10 There is a good balance of "light" characters against the "dark" ones. The servants such as Maylene, Finny, Bard, and Tanaka all add a lot of comical relief to the anime whenever it got too serious. The character development in the anime was very bad though, and I thought very little of them changed throughout the entire anime. They were all completely one sided. None of them pulled out any emotion from me, and I was completely neutral, neither rooting for the characters nor shunning them. One annoying relationship that really stood out as rather bothersome was the relationship between Ciel and Sebastian. Sebastian is the perfect butler that can do anything and will do anything for his master without a second thought. He usually succeeds. Because of this, nothing in the anime jumped out at me and surprised me, and it didn't keep me guessing what was going to happen.

Graphics/Animation: 9/10 The graphics in this anime were amazing and truly top notch. The anime, set in England, had spectacular costumes that befitted the setting and theme of the anime. The animation and fluidity of some scenes were a little choppy, I think, and the animation could've been a little bit better. Especially in action scenes. But overall, the graphics and animation are amazing.

Music: 10/10 This is one of the only animes I have ever seen that I could solidly give a 10/10 music rating for. The beginning theme song and ending theme son are catchy and the lyrics uncannily fit the anime quite well. The BMG throughout the anime was on the spot and fit the particular scene perfectly. Overall, it really contributes to the dark theme of the anime.

Enjoyability: 7/10 The start of the anime starts out very slowly. There was very little action in this anime, and when there were, it was underlined by sometimes poor animation. I would have definitely given enjoyability a higher rating if not for Sebastian's capability to seem invincible and immortal. Nothing shocked me, nothing surprised me, and I didn't guess what was going to happen next the entire time. However, watching Sebastian serve a twelve year old boy is more interesting and more complex that one might think, and the servants add a good amount of comical relief. I found I was laughing quite a bit in this anime.

Overall: 8.2

A handsome man. Irresistible smile that kills all the people around him and perplex them. Limitless evil lies behind that gentle smile. A butler, but not an ordinary one. He is one hell of a butler! For you only, but are you ready to serve him your soul?
What can I say? I was amazed by the storyline of this anime, the characters, music and the mystery, why is he serving the 12 years old boy, Ciel? for his soul? is it that precious? Mystery, indeed!

Throughout all of the 24 episodes, the painful past of the main character, Ciel Phantomhive, made the anime somehow PERFECT to see what's going to happen next, is he going to avenge and how? You can react easily as you watch him struggling to get over the difficulties. As for his butler, Sebastian, I was questioning all the time "Why Ciel? because of the amount of the hatred in his heart? or because of his priceless soul?". As you can see, Ciel is so weak physically and can't do much without the help of his butler. There are many mysterious things you'll like to figure out as you continue to watch.

The storyline won't be stick on discovering the past of Ciel, rather there are many side stories and comedy parts which will make the anime fall into one of the MOST interesting anime ever, well, for me at least...

Graphics, art, OP and Ed song and theme are all awesome. It was from the first glance at the OP that strengthen my will to watch the anime till the end.

Overall:
You must watch this. Don't let the fangirls deceive you by thinking its a shounen-ai or yaoi anime. Its nothing like that. And if you didn't like the idea of a boy with his butler, then don't miss the chance to laugh and enjoy the nice fighting battles with unbelievable enemies and the spectacular power of the butler!
