I can not believe that it took me so long to write a review for this one. One of the very few wonderful mangas that are actually turned into wonderful animes. For the most part it closely fallows the storyline of the manga and though there are a few deviations in very minor aspects it is more changes that help to better convey the thoughts and feelings or give a better ambiance to the scenes. I would not want most of the changes in the manga but I think they were very good for the anime.
Kyoko Mogomi the main character is hideously wronged and betrayed by the man she has loved for most of her life. This betrayal is so extreme that it reverses here feeling of love into hate. Her one goal in life now is to make Fuwa Shou suffer as he has made her suffer. Because Shou is high in the entertainment business it is very difficult for her to gain any sort of access to him so she determines that her best choice is to enter the entertainment business herself. Having no real interest in the entertainment business she alienates the top star of the agency that she is entering Ren Tsugara, who is absolutely serious about acting and hates to see people that are not taking their work seriously. The story develops further from here with friendships and loves and rivalries forming.
Each of the characters are richly developed throughout the story. You find yourself becoming attached to some of the characters and some of the insightful things that Kyoko does. This is probably the best shoujo manga that is being translated right now, and with the animation being so well done, unlike Special A, we have a very good complement to the manga.
The anime ends at least one or two episodes too soon leaving out one of the most important scenes in the story to date. Hopefully if they continue the series they will continue where they left off with a great scene right at the beginning.
The animation was wonderful. I especially loved the mini grudges and their antics. The music was just right for the story and I have no complaints. Again I have no complaints with the choice of voice actors, and they did a great job bringing the story to life.
I can not express effectively enough how thrilled I was when I realized that they did not ruin the manga the way Special A was ruined by the anime. I recommend this show to EVERYONE!!! Truly one of the best mangas ever created made into a great anime.

A series where I was fully engaged. While this is not a perfect series, nor did the ending truly satisfy me. Skip Beat was extremely fun to watch. There are not a lot of anime out there where I would marathon a multitude of episodes - or one that would make me gasp loudly at how short it felt. Skip Beat made me feel a large amount of emotions: revenge, anxiety, happiness, and love.
The plot is a simple act of revenge. However, the characters truly pour their hearts out with every expression and action. It was very impressive how they laid out Kyoko's character. She's a normal run-of-the-mill girl that you can easily warm up to. The more exciting aspects of Skip Beat was wondering just how Kyoko will play through her issues, what kind of solutions she can come up with.
I'm always tickled about anime about theatre and art. It's simply so fun! (such as Glass Mask or Hitohira). With this main theme, there will be plenty of competitive areas where you will actually be at the edge of your seat. I hear myself thinking aloud, "just what unique scheme will Kyoko think up this episode?". There's ample drama, but the best part is the comedy! Try not to laugh at Kyoko's embarrassing and exaggerating antics here, it may be difficult.
What I loved most was the imagery. The production staff didn't shy away for using an assortment of colours. There was a vast variety of hilarious facial expressions. Kyoko shows every side of her (and so do her inner most conscious spirits). Another thing that deserves praise are the emotions portrayed. Skip Beat really impressed me with their genuine display, and explanation, of certain character emotions. This anime is a motivator to run towards your dreams and find out what you're capable of!
The best word to describe Skip Beat is FUN. I loved the colourful zaniness, and the subtle romance. It was a very fun experience.

Wow, just WOW, OMG... A MASTER PIECE MAN!
An incredible series with full comedy, a love twist and actress perfomance for you. It's AMAZING DUDE!, I recommend this a 100%.
Tell us the plot plz!!
Yeah, we start with our protagonist called Kyoko, who's a girlfriend of Fuwa Sho (a childhood friend of her) and he's now an Idol and seldom comes home. Later, Kyoko goes to her boyfriend's agency and discovers something awful: He was using her only for her goods (Like food, resources, things like that). Kyoko goes berserk and told him: I'm gonna crush you to bits by becoming an actress... HELL YEAH. This is when the series starts to get HOT.
What about the development of characters?!?
No man, Kyoko is the best of the best. She's a professional being a novice, you know, innate talent. She overcomes any hard path with her perfomances and does it well.
Fuwa Sho, at the other hand, is in fight with his rival, Tsuruga Ren, who is the opposite of Fuwa Sho: kind, responsable and serious.
There are other characters like Moko-san who is a friend of Kyoko and cheers her up. You'll see a good development there too.
About the opening and ending?!?!
Man I downloaded Generous Sky, AWESOME opening. Around episode 15 or something like that, the opening changes to another one that is good too, but not as good as Generous Sky.
Then tell us, why is this a master piece?
Because its comedy comes very well prepared. Perfect, fitting the role of characters to make a love twist (Kyoko, Ren, Sho) and making you insane (always stay focused).
I only have 1 request..... THEY MUST make a SECOND SEASON, they must, they must...
You'll agree with me at the end. Ten stars without thinkin' too much.
