Studio : Anime International Company, Inc.
Licenced by : Geneon Entertainment (USA)
Length : 1 Movie
Year : 2000
Genre : Adventure - Drama - Romance
Synopsis : The movie starts out, surprisingly enough, on the surface of the moon. An unidentified woman (not a goddess, as she lacks the facial markings, but some sort of faerie) enters a hidden vault and unseals a strange artifact. This artifact, a tiny mask about an inch high, immediately shows itself to be intelligent by conversing with its rescuer.
At one of Tamiya and Ootaki's infamous club parties. Keiichi takes a moment to meet the newest member, a quiet and oddly distant girl named Morgan. Belldandy runs out after Sora Hasegawa gets drunk with Keiichi following. As Keiichi and Belldandy are standing outside, Belldandy glances over and sees a figure approaching. He looks somewhat like a bishounen version of Keiichi, with hexagonal god markings on his face. Belldandy rushes toward him, and he pulls her into an embrace. He kisses her and she falls unconscious.
When Belldandy wakes up later, she has total memory loss. To make matters worse, the Yggdrasil System has been stricken with a virus, and they are unable to send anyone to or from Heaven to treat her. Can Keichii help stop the tragedy from happening and can Belldandy and Keichii's love stand the ultimate test?

Beneath my cynical exterior is the heart of a romantic. For a short 106 minutes, that cynic took a back seat because of this gem of a movie.
Animation 10:
You can see from some of the very first scenes, the production values that went into crafting this. The moon looked foreboding and yet so tranquil. The scenes where the sun is setting were just beautiful. It really was a huge step up from the OAVs and it was good to see that they kept it up for the TV show.
Story 10:
Tear-jerking. I won't spoil it for you, but unlike the OAV or TV show which tended at times to have repetitive plot elements, this was something different and original. Seeing someone trying to destroy the supposedly 'unbreakable' love between Bell and Kei was always going to be interesting viewing.
Music 10:
Really atmospheric and the mood of the scenes were captured excellently by Shirou Hamaguchi. None of the music was over-the-top and it complemented the superb animation, rather than overwhelm it.
Overall 10
I normally involve a little something about the characterisation, but this movie assumes you're aware of the other incarnations of AMG. As a result, it just dives right in there with the story.
I absolutely loved this movie and it sits proudly on my anime DVD rack. Everything about it was top-notch. It took the AMG franchise to the next level and pimped everything up. A great movie.

Now, I am a sucker for romantic sort of anime. You know to even out the playing field after watching too many violent ones. AMG is a sweet, traditional, heartwarming anime love story.... It combines that with excellent visuals and the pacing is just right. Put it simply, a supurb hour and a half of entertainment.
AMG is a traditional narrative, while many anime try to compact way too much manga into such a short time frame, AMG: The movie provides us with stunning effects and beautiful art and production design. Simply put it, it is stunning, by utilising the manga originals from Kousuke Fujishima. The artwork is brilliant. The beauty and detail of the character designs really brings the character of film to life. With such wonderful visuals, it is strongly backed with quality writing. The orchestral score completes the package, supporting and lifting key moments.
Overall, this movie is highly recommended. It is in essence what anime is all about..... Stunning visuals, good story and character design and music to set the mood. It shows us what anime was..... This was before fans got hooked on over done fan service, cute girls falling for a loser and chicks in maid outfits. Sigh.... Lolz.
AMG: The movie, 10/10! =)

Intro: this is a movie review of Ah! My Goddess: the movie, I assure you that watch the movie thoroughly, and given it its rightful ratings
Graphics: (10) beautiful and stunning. Has the right color tone, not too glamorous and not too gloomy, just the perfect blend to this genre.
Music: (10) breath-taking! I really love the song near ending where the 3 goddesses perform a beautiful concert in the skies. They use such beautiful voices in this part. LOVE IT...
Characters: (10) they are the same people that we loved. And other new characters and each are very unique, oh! also the characters are now drawn more beautifully.
Story: (10) It may be the same as "saving the world- type" but it is also "saving the love- type". The story hidden in the past of Belldandy are very intriguing, i might add. There's also a sense of despair, as the two lovers struggle to save both there love and their worlds.
Conclusion: (10) such a beautiful anime. Recommended to all romantic-types!

I watched the tv series and the movie of this anime. In my opinion the series weren't that great, it seemed that there was always something missing. But in the movie that didn't happened.
It has an intense plot, full with magic, suspence, love and much more. The colors of the film are also better, and I like the inicial song a lot.
My favourite character in the whole series is Urd, but in this movie she doesn't appear very much, and when she does, she is concerned about something or someone so she doesn't reveal her real self. Having in count this fact my favourite ones where, of course, Belldandy and Keiichi because their love is crucial to the whole movie and anime.
The manga author really was imaginative, introducing such a complex plot. The film also is good when introducing new scenes. especially the ones that occur in Beldandy's childhood. Sometimes I think that in the anime, they would cut an image and just put another that has nothing to do about the previous one and I really am not fond of that.
One thing that this film doesn't have is comedy, it really is a kind of drama but with a happy ending. Althoug I really like comedy in anime, I think that in this case it really wasn't necessary, it was even better this way.
In resume, I liked the movie and to a person that likes magic and a love story, it's perfect.

Introduction
I have anticipated this movie 3 years ago and found it out to exceed all my expectations about Ah! My Goddess. 8 years of difference from the 5 episodes OVA and it comes out perfect and incredible.
Storyline: Outstanding!!
It may look ordinary for some of the people, but for me, the storyline, compared to the 5 episode OVA, is much more juicy. A lot of twists and events happens in the anime which produce a lot of mixed emotions from the characters in the movie. Twists are very ordinary and predictable, but it does not really matter since the good storyline covers the lack of twists in the movie.
Graphics and Animation: Superb!!!
One word to describe it: SUPERB!!! The graphics are very nicely drawn with no little amount of details. The character designs improved significantly and really outshines most of the series of that year.
Not only the graphics which is outstanding, the animation excelled too in this movie. It is very fluid with literally no jerkiness. This is one of the few animes that I cannot seem to notice even a slight jerkiness in the movie.
I am downright speechless for the quality of the anime. I can say it is one of the best masterpiece Kosuke Fujishima has ever produced till now.
Sound: Superb!!
Even in this department, the movie does not lose out. The sound effect and background music literally makes the whole watching experience enhanced by folds. The sound effect, harmoniously together with the background music, really depicts the moments in the movie nicely and perfectly. Even the ending song (Try To Wish!) is downright awesome: Good tune, fast paced and conveys happy feelings.
Opinion: Downright Positive!!
What can I say?? I was speechless and in a complete awe after I watched the movie. In fact, I rewatched the whole movie 5 times in a row when I got my hands on it 3 years ago. The whole components, which it consists of, makes this anime very enjoyable for all ages and genders. I really recommend this anime to all the people who have watched Ah! My Goddess OVA. An excellent series deserves full marks.
Rating: 10/10

Ah! My Goddess Movie was a pretty okay movie.
Animation: Animation is crisp, but some of the characters look a little different than from the OAV. It sometimes seems as if they took less time on this movie than they should have.
Storyline: It's a nice plot, but given the circumstances, it's predictable. There's really nothing new about it, and it's pretty much your average romance plot underneath all the mythical things and technology.
Characters: Character interactions here were plain and believable, and their personalities can be viewed by their actions.
Music: A beautiful part of this movie. It could sway you and affect you. There was a lot of good music and BGM in this movie.
All in all, an average romance plot with the characters of Ah! My Goddess. I'd say I'd give it a so-so recommendation, as I didn't really think it had much of an original storyline.

Ah! My Goddess the movie.
I've never read the manga, so I'm not familiar to whether if it's part of it. However this doesnt mean it's not a great movie length animation
The story continues with Morisato and Belldandy living happy with life passing but a new threat has come which challenges their relationship. Well this stroyline isnt new and fresh but it works wonders in this movie because this is a romance genre. It also provides background infomation on Belldandy and Morisato as children which expands the story.
The character development, I believe, is essential in this movie because it is a vital part. It shows conflicting emtionins within belldandy because of her past and her present, it also shows the typical growth and realization amongst the characters also.
All I can say about the music is that it suits its age for when it was made. ^_^
The animation, I belive, is spectacular with the characters moving fluidly and fight scences fast paced this also goes for the racing scenes as well, giving it a sort of realism.
Overall, this anime is good if you're a fan of the series and it is watchable for those who haven't watched the ova or read the manga, but it is recommended you do so you understand the characters and storyline more easily.

Swish!
An excelent conclusion to one of my favourite anime series.
I gotta say, the animation was a little bit different, Belldandy wasn't as cute (my opinion, mock me if you want). But still, great animation, great sounds, great Musique, and an excellent storyline (crappy heaven computers).
This movie... I dunno how, what happened to Belldandy made me feel heart broken, crap, this movie made me feel alot of emotions. I'll just end it here and give it a 10 out of 10. But seriously... this movie is like a headshot with a grenade.

I can't believe people are actually giving this ridiculous movie good ratings. Actually, i'm a huge fan of the manga series and love Ah! My Goddess, but the storyline in the movie was a huge disappointment. Okay, i overemphasized a little bit there..
The story seems interesting from the beginning until well... without spoiling anything.. the middle-end. There however, begins a sappy journey of love/regaining of memories (and usually i'm a sap myself for this kind of stuff) and unnecessary singing... Furthermore, the ending resolve (minus the love resolve) was shockingly bad (more singing!???!?)
The saving grace of this movie was that the animation was flawless, and the colors were perfectly done. Other than that, beware!

The one thing that's certain about the Ah! My Goddess Movie is that it looks great. However, most of the story, characters, etc., are pretty much standard and predictable stuff. Your basic grand epic plot.
The music is very good, but again, very standard. You can hear a similar soundtrack in every second movie, animated or not, and it kind of feels soulless, nothing like Joe Hisashi's wonderful scores for example.
Overall a good movie but nothing special except for the visuals. And Belldandy is the same shallow doll of a girl as ever.

I have always had a soft spot for the AMG series. Something about that 'good guy finally gets a kickass girl' plot seems to resonate well with me. Might also be the fact the Keiichi reminds me SO much of myself (even down to the looks sometimes...) I enjoyed the series very much and was looking foward to what the movie was going to provide... more Belldandy and Keiichi. And yes, I got what I wanted. It may not have as much focus on their relationship as I may have wanted, but I'll take AMG any way I can have it.
As far as movies go, you've got improved animation. I thought the animation to be downright beautiful. All the characters became more detailed. Keiichi himself has a totally new look (looking so fresh and so clean =P) about him. You have the sound department. The music is something I find very nice to listen to...so much that I bought the soundtrack and I listen to it whenever I do homework or just need to wind down. And then you have the story...
Rather than focusing solely on the relationship of Belldandy and Keiichi, the movie, instead, brings about two very unique characters, not introduced in the OVA, Celestin and Morgan. Celestin uses Morgan's body to physically manifest himself and then implants a nice little virus into Belldandy thus infecting the network between her and Heaven and blocking all memories that she had of Keiichi. Officers in Heaven aren't too pleased and are trying to find ways to eradicate the virus. Of course, Keiichi isn't too educated on what's going on but his love for his goddess pushes him to try his best. We have the sisters doing their thing. We have the auto club entering a race soon. And Morgan seems to be hitting on Keiichi. What's a goddess with amnesia to do???
I believe this to be one of the more enjoyable anime movies I have seen. Everything just works so well, especially the scene in the nurse's office. The music there is just powerful and I love it (Amor Tristis was the name of the piece I believe). Fun little races with the sidecars. The goddesses get in some fighting action. And we got the auto club sempai's in tight, neon green leotards trying to get new members. I loved everything about this movie and I'm hoping another one might come out. I doubt it, but you never know... =)

The story unfolds when Belldandy's mentor(also a former criminal in the heavens although Belldandy doesn't know about it) escapes from the moon where he was imprisoned with the help of a fairy(I forgot her name). Seems like her mentor Celestine is planning to shut down the heavens with the use of Belldandy. What can Keiichi, Urd and Skuld do to help Belldandy?
Better animation than the OVA, Ah! My Goddess the movie will blow you away! Two words: "Heaven Politics". That sums up the plot of this movie. We will only see a bit of Keiichi's and Belldandy's love for each other. Anyways, the music is enchanting as the three main goddesses sing together in the last part. Very enchanting and great. The animation is as fluid as brake fluid. The characterization is good. We get to know why Celestine is trying to topple the heaven and why he was imprisoned in the moon.
If you are a big fan of the ever popular Ah! My Goddess, better buy this movie. But if you're not, don't. I kinda regret buying this even though I am an Ah! My Goddess fan. I was expecting more on the love story of Keiichi and Belldandy but it's not. Honestly, I only watched this anime twice.

With a goddess promised to you for life, nothing can go wrong right?
Well.. in this movie, the promise of Belldandy and Keichii (this time I think I spelt it right...) is put to the test, as a memory from long ago is revived.
Pros:
Provides more closure
Develops relationship of Keichii and Belldandy more
Some insight into Goddess system
Urd is actually useful this time
Undecided whether it's a Pro or Con:
Might be a little too 'action packed'
Celestine's topic is a little philosophical (or not..)
Not as light-hearted
Keichii underwent a major style change
Another memory crisis?
A pleasant addition to the AMG 'series', AMG-Movie further develops the relationship of Keichii and Belldandy. This time with a memory locked away far on the surface of the moon - Belldandy's 'teacher'/mentor Celestine.
This time, Belldandy loses his memory, including those of Keichii! Though this memory crisis theme is not new, it provides decent plot development.
Finally, as the movie reaches climax, Belldandy and Keichii cross the gate representing the ultimate test of their love. The atmosphere conveyed is excellent.
Overall, if you enjoyed AMG, this is not something that you'd want to miss.
(P.S. If I'm a little incoherent... please excuse me... it is a little late. =D)

I really really really like this movie, I think it has everything: good music, drama, humour, action and espeically ROMANCE! It's packed full of cuteness too. And I liked the fact that it didn't have much sexuality or partial nudity like in the anime OVA. I really enjoyed this movie, it gives you deep emotions and things to think about actually. There were some technology stuff that kinda blew me off, but I still managed to consume the plot. The animation is very well done, a bit of a change from the anime series of course. And the music is good to sing along to.
The art and animation is different from the OVA series, I think it seems more of a darker overtone. But that shouldn't affect how you feel about this movie. And I think that you can watch this movie without the OVA, but since the OVA is only a few episodes, what's the hurry? You really get to love Belldandy and Morisato even more after watching. At least, that's how I felt.
Yes you should watch this movie. It has everything and would absolutely satisfy your needs - not sexually though, hehe.
