Yay to Yumeiro Patissiere!

I must say. I really enjoyed watching Yumeiro Patissiere. It gave me all the things I loved, with an addition bonus - some delicious looking desserts! Some of the things I loved included colourful characters, subtle romance, simple humour, school setting, and of course the theme of competition! It was a great experience.

The pacing and extraction of the series was well done. I think 50 episodes is a reasonable length for this series. Though I was sad to see such a fun series end, I also didn't feel a significant feeling of emptiness or urgency for further development. Luckily for me, there was the surprising news of another season! Yumeiro Patissiere Professional.

Characters were lovely. There was some tunnel vision on the main cast, which doesn't bother me too much. I enjoyed see Team Ichigo overcome so many obstacles and reach their goals. There were some enlightening events even when this series seems geared towards the younger audience. The characters were also gorgeous. Let's not forget the fairies (or "sprites"). I really could do without the fairies. They didn't do much for me. The most they did was provide some comic relief and present some cute miniature items. Now that I think about it, much needed depth should go into the fairy world. I'm guessing they'll leave that to the second season. I would also like to know more about Rumi (Ichigo's roomate); her character attracted me the most, but all I know is that she has an accent and sticks up for her friends.

Though I do mention liking the main cast, they don't really "stand out" for me. Ichigo is a typical bubbly student that is clumsy... I honestly think this typical shoujo trait is way too over-used. Then there are the three princess which each have some charm to them. They wouldn't be Prince's now otherwise, would they? In fact, Kashino and Ichigo remind me of Hayama Akito and Kurata Sana from (one of) my favourite series Kodomo no Omocha

As you know, this anime circles around pastry making and all things sweet. Warning: you should not watch this anime hungry. You WILL crave all these delicious sweets when watching it. It seems the producers go through large efforts to make these sweet creations look oh-so-delicious. You have been warned, lol!

I'd recommend reading "Kitchen Princess" if you enjoyed Yumeiro Patissiere. They share a large amount of similarities and themes, and I definitely liked both series. Same goes with if you liked reading the Kitchen Princess manga. Give Yumeiro Patissiere a try!
