Mitsudomoe gives off a horrible first impression. First of all, the setup screams Kodomo no Jikan, which dives right into pedophile territory. Secondly, the characters feels totally one-dimensional, and it looks like the comedy would entirely generated from their personality archetypes. Mitsuba is arrogant and sadistic, Futaba is clumsy and violent, Hitoha is a creepy freak, and "Yabecchi" is an idiot. Lastly, the animation is hardly impressive. You can't sell an anime that practically screams "cliched, run-of-the-mill perverted comedy about elementary school girls".
But perhaps it's due to the people who actually like this kind of shows that we are able to see the real value of the show. It's no gem, but it turns out to be a lot more enjoyable than what the first impression suggests. For one, the show is incredibly funny. I hate to say this, but it might actually be one of the best series out there in terms of humor. The clever use of puns, personality flaws and animation tricks worked out incredibly well despite the simplicity of the character and background designs. The supporting cast had very little personality, but the show made good use of the vast number of characters, since almost the entire class of 6-3 had a role to play in at least a few of the jokes. The more interesting characters in the series would be Mitsuba and Hitoha, who actually had a cuter and more humane side to them outside of their character archetype. Hitoha quickly became a fan favourite (mine as well) for her VA (Tomatsu Haruka), the amount of humor based on her character, and her number of "color failure". Hitoha is also one of the best example of a "Kuudere" (silent-girl-dere).
There aren't any real flaws in the series except that the amount of detail in the animation and music really failed to impress. On the other hand, the quality remained fairly constant throughout the series, so it's at least better than having it drop after the first couple of episodes, like so many other series do.
There's no doubt that Mitsudomoe is really enjoyable. It might not leave a really deep impression, but it does have very high rewatch value.
