Cute. Appealing. Well done. Like many of the other Ghibli flicks.

You're thrown right into the plot pretty much immediately, and I was interested to see what was going to happen next with Sho and Arrietty. Getting a sugar cube was like Mission Impossible. I was rooting for Arrietty's family to have a nice home, and the "doll house" was a neat thing. Just lots of neat interesting miniatures here and there.

The artwork was great. From the characters to the miniatures to the landscape. All good. The sound worked well, and the English voice actors/actresses did well. The background music was also nicely done.

Not anything that blew me away or is necessarily a "keeper". But definitely well done and definitely recommended. 8 out of 10 Rating. 4 STARS.

I loved this movie. I found that it was really easy to enjoy. Of course I'll pop in the Studio Ghibli name. Arrietty follows the usual Studio Ghibli formula but I still loved the movie. I certainly was not disappointed with this work. There's high evidence that so much research, time and effort was expended on this presentation.

The art and animation was gorgeous. Each frame was like a painting. It was very pleasing to look at and you really become engaged in the "fantasy" world. The studio must have taken multitudes of high-quality/zoomed in photos in order to capture what it was like to be small. I found that I was keenly observant throughout the movie. It was like a game of trying to see regularly used items and how the Borrowers would incorporate it in their world. For example, earrings as hooks, or postage stamps as framed pictures.

The sound effects were deeply considered as well. A regular clock to us would simply make tick-tock sounds, but for Arrietty, it sounded more like a grandfather clock. You can really tell that so much research and depth went into creating the atmosphere. Although I found it strange that Sho could hear the tiny Arrietty so clearly.

I enjoyed the music immensely. It was powerful yet tranquil at the same time. The ending song was lovely as well. I thought the ending of the movie was appropriate. The story progression and pacing was very comfortable. It was really easy to keep up as it was a simple story. The characters are the usual "almost too normal" characters. Other than that, I think it was a very attractive movie that just about everyone can enjoy.

Another masterpiece coming from Studio Ghibli and Master Miyazaki Hayao!

Karigurashi no Arrietty or The Borrower Arriety in English is truly a must see for all Studio Ghibli fans. How can I say that it is a must see?

First, the Story :

The story is based from a novel entitled The Borrowers by English author Mary Norton which tells about the story of a 14 year old Arrietty who embarks on her first time of borrowing things from humans like sugar cubes and tissue paper, upon getting the tissue Sho the human boy sees Arrietty and in that way Sho becomes aware of the so called little humans living underneath the old house.

For me although this is an adoptation of the English fantasy novel Studio Ghibli has done a good interpretation on the story itself, I myself was fascinated on how they manage to represent in detail the world arrietty lives on and integrate it in Sho's world.

Art: Superb! what can I expect coming from Studio Ghibli a 10/10, the detail of the surroundings and every frame is carefully detailed to produce an astonishing output :)

Music: Also a superb one :) the music blends with every frame or scenery and I must say it helps on the feeling that it made me comfortable to watch it.

Overall: I can say that if this movie can make it through a series I can say that it will surely again rock my world :) it is a must for people who are tired of the same fighting or ecchi type of animes outhere, it will surely make your imagination and amusement into another level! and it will definitely be also in my list of Studio Ghibli's best anime movie production of all time.

Overall rating: 10/10
satisfied and amused!
