I enjoyed this film. It did have some slow parts, mostly during the long speeches or traveling segments, but there were some very nicely done action scenes, nice visual atmospheres, and good emotional sequences.

The music was average, sometimes fitting well and others times sticking out badly, but I liked the art: the character designs were varied and cool and the backgrounds were very nice to gaze at. The dialogue could have been better, but then again, with the plot maybe there wasn’t that much for the characters to say, anyway.

If you don’t like vampire movies, you should still enjoy this movie because the theme doesn’t really factor in much. Instead, everything revolves around explosions, swordfights, and crazy supernatural things, which everyone can have fun watching.

I’d recommend this anime. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s exciting and a decent way to kill time.

VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST has a simple plot: a girl is kidnapped by a vampire named Meier Link. The father of the kidnapped girl pays a badass vampire hunter named D and a group of vampire hunters known as the Markus brothers (whom of which hold a grudge against D). And so begins the journeys of the vampire hunters to save the girl in a battle of good versus evil.

VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST has got good animation (even though some of it may seem pretty basic in some scenes) and it's action scenes will give you the thirst for more and more.

This anime was good... up until the end, which sadly seemed to have lost its feel. But nonetheless, it's a fun watch if you've got some time on your hands.

One of the best anime I've ever seen!
Animation is supreme, story captivating, characters perfect.

What I like the best is how the rasistic attitude of humans to vampires and half-vampires is shown and how D's personality has developed because of that.

Plot: 10
It's about forbidden love between vampire and human.
Can there be love between human and vampire?
Can these two species live in coexistance?
What is with products of that love, half-vampires a.k.a. Dunpeals?
These are the questions on which this movie tries to answer, through story of love, friendship and thrust.

Graphics: 10
It's supreme, with great detail and well made characters, without flaws and unnecesary sceen's.
Compared to many other anime movies, Vampire Hunter D has far superior style.
Characters are well drawn and colored, each of them is made too look real, it's easy to forget that it is only an animated movie and not real.

Music: 10
It fits perfectly to plot development, it's never boring or invasive.

Characters: 10
As already said, they are perfect, D is cool, Meier too, during the movie, you find yourself hoping that they will became friends because you find respect to both of them.
As for other characters, they all pass to the story perfectly, with their roles and appearances.

Overall: 10
This move is well made and is one of my favorite anime movies, with great story and characters.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was the first ever vampire anime I ever saw. The movie was very solid with great animation, great action, and etc. the only thing was how they kind of changed the plot near the end.

Vampire come's into a girl's room, in the morning her father and brother find out that she is gone, and they hire a vampire hunter. This vampire hunter was the legendary "D," yah that is what his name. Anyways he is hired to kill the vampire who kidnapped the girl, "D" excepts the offer with payment and leaves, but he's got some challenge, it looked like that the Marcus brothers who are also vampire hunters were also hunters that were hired to get the girl back, thus a great adventure starts with meeting new and great characters.

Pretty cool storyline and simple storyline they had there eh. The adventure "D" has is quite memorable in this movie. The only thing is that near the end of the movie, the plot story takes a sudden change, and it's not exactly about saving the girl anymore, we get to find out that the girl was actually in love with that vampire and that she ranaway with the vampire who kidnapped her to somewhere far. That was when the story kind of lacked the solidity it had before, by changing it all. Good twist it had, yet predictable since there are so much vampire hollywood movies that I have seen that a human girl falls in love which I would assume hot male vampire with long hair. However the ending to the movie was able to cover up for those parts, cause the ending was quite the happy ending. Really the ending to the movie left me with a good feeling.

Characters in this movie. "D,"what kind of name is that really, I think they should have gave him a better name than that. "D" really was a cool character in this movie, yet cliche since he is half human, half vampire, and he hunts vampire, oh yah he also got's a sword on him, hmmmmm now that reminds me of a guy(blade). Still even though his character is cliche, I still loved the way he acted, and his actions. Really he is more like a human than a vampire, which is a good thing. Yes the best thing about his that the got's emotion, also he keeps promises, which you get to find out later. The girl with blond hair(forgot her name), she was a pretty good main female character. The thing about her is that she was not that powerfull, she lacked the feeling of getting attached to her. She had a nice close friendship with the Marcus brothers, but she even had a better close relationship with "D". The best thing about her is that she kicked ass when she was in action, and that red coat on her looks great, the hairstyle is also awsome. The best thing about this movie was how they put so much personifaction on the vampires. I mean they actually had human feelings and emotion. Characters were really memorable.

Music, I can't criticize since I don't remember

Animation to the movie was very well done. The animation on the movie was awsome, The animation when the vampire was burning when he was exposed to the sun was ver well done. The sun setting, and reflecting off the face of the characters were very good also. Setting to the movie is nice and detailed, the forest was very well done. The movie did lack action, but the action was very good. It's always good when you see sword action in anime. They even made "D" look so cool in the movie, compared tot the 80's movie they had, which I have but not yet have I checked out yet.

The movie as I said before is very solid. Really worth watching, the length for the movie is very good, which made the movie very well paced out. I highly reccomend this movie to any vampire anime fans, also any people who are new to anime should also check out this movie, great movie!

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was not a surprisingly disappointing title. I was excited initially upon hearing that it was being produced, but when I saw the character designs I started to worry. Then came the news about an only english release and it was all downhill from there. I was interested in it again when I saw the trailer a while later and was amazed by the animation quality. So, going against better judgement, I picked up the movie.

The Movie was almost exactly what I expected it to be, I hated 90% of the characters (everyone but the Vampire Count and D), I loved the animation style, I hated 90% of the voice work (everyone but the Count and D), and I predicted the story.

While Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was not a terrible movie, I really had a problem with the voice acting and a particular dislike of the lead female character. She will bug anyone watching the film into hitting the power or pull the plug if it's closer (she is also unintentionally oddly proportioned). The Were-wolf was frigging retarted, I mean a wolfs face growing out of his stomach is laughably stupid. They don't even show this poor guy's fight because they could not figure out how to put his strange power to anything useful in a fight.

The musical score in this movie was beautiful and added to the imagery gothic imagery. That being said, the music is one of the film's few high points.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is not a terrible movie, it just was not very good. They should have left out the red oufit girl in the tight outfit and not even considdered a relationship between her and D. Fans of the fantasy fenre who can deal with some gore may want to give VHD:Bloodlust a viewing, but most likely not so much.

P.S. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is not based off of the crappy playstation game of the same name. The game was released shortly after the movie to boost merchandise sales.

SO much better than the first movie! The animation is superbly detailed. There is a gothic castle that shows up near the end of the movie, and it is stunningly depicted. And the character designs were great, especially D's outfit. The voices actually matched the characters! Finally, D is given the calm, smooth, deep voice that perfectly fits him! The storyline is rather simple. A woman is stolen by a powerful vampire, and her family hires the dunpeal (half-vampire) Vampire Hunter D to go and get her. The story is told at a quick enough pace that I didn't get bored, but at the same time it didn't go too fast. It allowed me to get what was going on through my head. A definite A+!

A near perfect vampire movie..... details.

Animation/Art: 10/10. Honestly, it even deserves more. The best artistic style I have ever seen, and I have seen plenty. Something is strange about this movie's drawing style, the style is very dark and yet very liquidy. All the animation flows together better than I have ever seen in any other movie. I raise my hat to the artist, it was beautiful.

Music: 10/10. The sound effects were perfect. At the right moment, they would make you hold your breath. I especially enjoyed the music when D meets the 4 hunters.

Story: 9/10. Ahh, if only this section was slightly improved. My only gripes about this movie is that at no point is D at serious threat. I feel like he can absolutely destroy anything in sight. Perhaps the villans needed more illustration of their powers and more time in the movie.

Characters: 9/10. Again, seriously well illustrated. The hand was perfect supplement to the character of D. I give it 9 out of 10 because I believe the true villan of the story needed more film time. You need truly hated villan to admire a story.

I bought it. I really enjoy it and I share it with my friends. I highly recommend it.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust offers a unique twist to the Vampire genre. It displays a fantasy world full of vampires and monsters, but it plays out like a western. Bloodlust takes place far in the future, where a half vampire (Dunpeil) known as 'D' hunts the few remaining vampires. After the mysterious kidnapping of a girl from a wealthy family, D is hired to track the vampire who stole her. Although competing with a group of hired hunters called the Marx brothers (not Groucho, Harpo and Chico), he ends up helping them a lot. However, while pursuing the vampire Meiyer Link D soon discovers all is not as it appears.

D is a fun character to watch, he is nearly silent and speaks mainly through action, but he has a loudmouth sidekick who offers the comic relief, a hilarious parasite in his hand. The antagonist Meiyer Link is a good blend of nobility and badass, and his bodyguards have an enteraining array of powers.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust's blend of fast and furious action with crisp animation makes the battles into beautiful spectacles full of memorable moments. This movie is a must-see for both fans of the genre and fans of anime in general.

Bloodlust is far superior than Vampire Hunter D, but both are still entertaining movies that seem to lack a little oomph. Bloodlust has really good graphics, an excellent story, but what my complaint is that there's not enough action. Bloodlust feels very much like a studio attempting to rehash Vampire Hunter D because they have this new awesome story, but fail to realize that fans already know the mythology of the series.

There's a scene in Bloodlust that has a man speak of meeting D before, when he was a child and D looks the same as then. That should be enough history for people who haven't seen the original to understand the extent to D's life, but instead the movie deems it necessary to go over every aspect of D's abilities. Even those who are unfamiliar with D could tell that he kicks ass, but the movie doesn't show that enough.

There are scenes showing how devious he is, but the good fights are interrupted. When we think that D is trapped, someone interrupts the fight. When D is challeneged to a duel, all the audience sees is a conclusion. Perhaps they had to focus screen time away from D, but the movie feels a little awkward when the main character isn't shown much "cool" time.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a well made production, but what seperates it from being excellent is the false advertising. The introduction is similar to Conan movies, where the audience expects heads to roll. Bloodlust doesn't fulfill my expectations on the action scenes, but did well with the plot. However, I am not watching Bloodlust to see story but action.

This movie was one of the better ones that I

Highs : Visually superb; somewhat moving storyline.

Lows : ill-fitting background music.

After knowing that the character designs (by Yutaka Minowa) are based on Yoshitaka Amano's illustrations and being directed by Kawajiri, I knew I had to see this movie.

And it was great!! It was visually perfect. Once again, Kawajiri proved that his creative action scenes are still one of the best (if not the best). With an animation studio like Mad House, the animation is jaw dropping. Just seeing the title screen puts a big (really big) grin on my face!!!

However, this movie still has its problems. The story itself is great and kinda moving. However, some characters (like the Marcus Brothers) are not fully fleshed out, and some events seemed a bit rushed. Compressing an entire book within a two-hour movie is no easy task. Fortunately, it was satisfying and made me clap my hands in the end (when no one's looking of course).

But the biggest problem I had was the soundtrack. Many say that the soundtrack is beautiful. I think the music doesn't really fit the show at all. Marco Ambrosio seemed to see this movie as a vampire horror flick and therefore created pieces that reminded me of those average Western horror films. Vampire Hunter D is actually a gothic fantasy story. They should've hired someone else. Another thing about the music: they fail to bring out the emotion of what some of the scenes were trying to portray. Imagine battle music playing on what was supposed to be a depressingly dramatic scene. How can it make you cry then?

It would be nice if they could re-release it with an entirely different background music. But that would be kinda insulting to Mr. Ambrosio's part. It's just that I think animes are too much for him to handle. Taking out the beautiful ending song Tooku Made by Do As Infinity for the R1 DVD release was bad enough.

Story
*******
When a young woman, Charlotte Elbourne, is taken away by a vampire, Meier Link, her family is willing to pay anything to get her back. D, the product of a mortal mother and immortal vampire, is hired for the job but has some competition as the family in their desperation also hired a group of bounty hunters known as the Markuss Brothers. The job becomes increasingly difficult when the Barbaroi are later introduced. The Barbaroi, who are sworn to serve the "people of the night," keep with their reputation, choosing to protect Meier and his carriage. As the story unravels an unlikely friendship is forged and an unshakable love revealed.

Sights
*******
The graphics for this movie, from beginning to end, was above and beyond anything I have yet seen. From character design to settings, every detail was masterfully handled.

Sounds
*******
The music is not something you could listen to over and over again. Generally very eerie and ghostly, the sounds fit the story and mood of the movie very well.

Opinion
*******
This is one of the best I've seen. The storyline is really rather simple but the graphics were amazing. For my favorite character I would have to say D. He's very calm and quiet, preferring to keep to himself although his talking hand does lighten the mood every now and again. My only complaint is that the movie was all too short. The ending was sad and sweet but served as a perfect wrap-up. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

To all who does not know, Vampire Hunter D is from a Playstation game in the same name.

The half-vampire D is out to save the beautiful Charlotte Elbourne who is kidnapped by the vampire Meier Link. Paid with a vast sum of money by Charlotte's father, D agrees to save her... dead or... alive...

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is an excellent anime! Beating the former Vampire Hunter D, this new version has everything what you expected from the former Vampire Hunter D. From the serene beauty of the 10,000+ millenium earth, to the top-notch art and animation, to the characters, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. The fighting scenes are superb and watery. The music is very thrilling and beautiful. Music such as operas.

One of the things that I like about this anime is the way vampires are. This anime didn't loose the touch of the fact that vampires sleep in coffins. Unlike the vampires of today who sleep and wander everywhere like in the Blade movie.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is very entertaining. You don't need to play the Vampire Hunter D video game to understand this anime nor the former Vampire Hunter D. Pick up a copy now and you'll also have a copy of how entertained I was.

Wow, what an improvement from the original Vampire Hunter D movie! I'm surprised I even gave this D movie a chance after the other one, but I'm glad I did. There were quite a few things I liked about this movie: The animation, such a huge improvement from the first, very nice indeed. The demons, you're standard horror monsters with neat little twists(like the werewolf with a mouth on his stomach). D, he kind of reminds me of Jubei from Ninja Scroll except with a fancier fighting style.

This movie was a vast improvement from the first, but it also had it's faults. The main one I saw was the plot, sure I know it's hard to make a movie like this with a deeper plot but still I'm not a big fan of love stories sneaking their way into hack & slash movies. The other one was the talking face on D's hand, sure he came in handy but I could hardly stand listening to him and his 'helpful' information.

I recommend this movie to anyone who was a fan of Ninja Scroll, because those movies are very similar but very different at the same time. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust will get 3.5 out of 5...(I would've given the original 1 out of 5... if it was lucky)

I enjoyed this Vampire movie.. it had nice vibrant themes going from when you first see the graveyard.. the burning desert and then the elegant castle... all of the scenery was done amazingly and nice CG blended in.

The story line is your standard story line but done very well... after hearing horror stories about the first Vampire D movie.. I wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised.

It is definately worth a watch.. and you don't need to watch the first movie to understand this one.
