Well what can I say, it's definetly better than the first since the first season was technically an introduction part where you get to learn the about the characteristics and abilities of each character in the story, which is not actually bad but in this season, this is when the plot really starts to develop along with some very unexpected twist.
the animation was also superb frankly this was the first 3d animation series I have ever watch and it was develop roughly 2000-2001 which back then 3d animation wasn't very popular yet at least not in TV series which makes this series great
The sound and music was good but I personally prefer the first season opening song to compare to the second but all in all Vandread second stage is a great series although personally I had hoped they could have made it longer.

Much better than the first. The plot becomes serious. The characters become serious. Characters develop and become more interesting. All of this and it's still funny. As an added bonus, the romance factor becomes more serious as well. What's a harem without competition?
We also learn why we saw the white haired woman steal a disk off the ship. Unfortunately, that's all we learn. None of the unanswered questions left by the first season are answered. That's disappointing.
I love the conclusion. It's refreshing to see an anime end where love is realized and a heart is broken instead of the typical anime ending whereas nobody gets hurt and no love conflicts resolve.
This anime is funnier and more fascinating than the first. Is it just me, or is Hibiki's voice more idiosyncratic than before? Is that even possible?

I think both stages of Vandread are amazing. The story line is something new and refreshing. As far as I know, it hasn't been done before. I'm tired of all the Sailor Moon, Gundam and Pokemon type animes that keep popping up everywhere, so Vandread was a much needed and enjoyed change.
The characters developed well. Each had their own personality and quirks that made them so easy to love. The characters also displayed realistic emotion. Watching the crew interact and grow as they got to know themselves and each other really made this Anime amazing.
The only downside to this anime is that the Japanese voice don't seem to fit every well (Mainly Hibiki's Japanese voice), so for me the dubbed version was a MUST.
I noticed someone mentioned the end wasn't too great. I'm hoping they did that on purpose meaning that a third stage is in the works. I'm certainly hoping for it. Heck, I'd love to see a fourth and fifth stage too. This amime is just so great that I don't want it to end. :(

The second stage is set and this time we get something a little extra for tuning in for the sequel. Last time we had great characters, great music, great animation, and what is missing? Obviously the plot, now add that to the list and we get ourself overall a pretty good sequel.
The plot to this sequel is that it touches more deep into Hibiki trying to show that he actually existed. We also got the nice amount of dramatic moments in it, mixed in with the needing comedy to lighten up the mood. At last we got to see the great cooperation between the male and females for the last stage of battle between the enemy which is the "earthlings."
Yes the sequel actually has a good plot. In the end you get a good yet predictable final battle, following a pretty nice and light ending, that in my opinion leaves the doors open for another sequel which I would be delighted to see.
Characters to the sequel are the same as ever, but near the end the development start to grow on the characters. Wow we got a new character in this show, She was a pretty weird, and amusing character that when she layed her eyes on Hibiki for the first time she gives the guy a hug, and say how cute he is. This is good because eventually this leads to a rivalry between the new girl and Dita to obtain the lover from Hibiki. The method they use to this is making great food for him, where Hibiki can not resist, sadly the new girl always makes the dishes and gets to Hibiki before Dita gets to him. This causes Dita's feelings for Hibiki to grow stronger and stronger. The new girl, you may think that she is just a girl that likes having fun, and likes annoying people. The fact is that she is trying to fit in with everyone since, she has been asleep for a long time, and assuming a long time by she existed at the time where both men and women would live together. The only thing she wanted was to be with someone and not be alone, and her goal was Hibiki, later she realizes about Dita's feelings about Hibiki and gives up on him. She is alone now, but not for long eventually Maiie becomes a great older sister figure for her. You know what is so amazing about this anime, it is that it took the last episodes to call eachother by their real names. The thing that made me laugh was how all Dita wanted was Hibiki to call her name, and he did and they lived happily ever after. There really is something to that "wanting to call each others name thing," kind of nice, and cute. I hate to admit it but that is how I had to describe that. Now another amazing thing about this show, despite this being a mecha anime, they did not even kill of one single character we know.
Animation to the show was a little better then the first stage, but not much of a difference. They kept the whole cg animated action and setting, which was unique in watching once again. Character art and backround did not change, so it's the same, and thats great.
The music to the show, I mean the opening and Ending theme however left me dissapointed. The opening theme was just not as fun as the first opening theme, and the ending them was booooooooring. The backound music was pretty much the same which was good.
The second stage was a great sequel to the first stage, and this time it gave me a good story to watch. Alos it had it's dramatic moments in the show which I liked. The ending I really liked to this sequel, but in order to watch this sequel my advice to you people is you must watch the first stage before watching this or else you will not find the characters as much fun as I did. Basically since I enjoyed the second stage, and thought that the first stage was decent overall I would give them both together an 8/10 if them both were to be rated as a whole.

I felt this half of the anime was more well done. The plot thickens, and the two sexes have to unite to battle this formidable enemy.
The plot continues from where it left off in First Stage, and there is even a new character introduced. The fights heat up, and everything is coming to an end soon as they are reaching their home planet Mejale soon. There are a few twists and turns at the end, some predictable and some not. I really loved the fact that the ending showed how the two sexes had to join up forces to defeat the enemy, but that's just me (hehe). There is more Hibiki x Dita and all that. the rest i have mostly forgotten, forgive me. Of course, for those who love the comedy its still there.
The animation is just as good as in First Stage, no changes. Clean, sharp and colourful.
The voicers were of course the same. Music too. But I loved the new opening more than the other one. But Himegoto by Silk was just as good too, I guess. ^^
Okay, overall the Second Stage was better than the First. But I would still say it could have been improved to better liking. Catchy opening though, and the ending was fine too. Pick this up straightaway after watching the First Stage.

haha Vandread No. 2 definitely is a treat. However, I still think that the first is still better than the second. Anyway, this is the second`s review.
The story starts just from where the 1st left off with the few MEN in A SHIP FILLED WITH GIRLS... please don`t get the wrong idea, it's not a hentai k? The guys and girls( GAG ) on an adventure thats basically surviving in the vast universe and of course fighting the `enemy` which is ...( SPOILER ) find out when you watch it.
The story is indeed interesting as they go on their journey they meet new allies and get stronger but there is a catch. The enemy is also getting stronger but good always wins the bad right? The plot isn`t straight forward and constantly changes the tide between whose gonna win just like a snap of the finger. The comedy area is still around, but in my opinion, the 1st is still funnier.
the graphic is well..... okay as this is the 2nd so the graphic is almost identical to the first but still there are differences like someone has lost hair...( know what i mean) lol anyways the graphic is still good but then again the creators must have followed the 1st for the 2nd, if not, it wouldn`t be the 2nd vandread but some other story right?
The sound, the music is nice as it changes as the movie goes on. The mood created by the music makes one feel the desire to continue watching and it doesn`t make one feel too sad or something but just enough,do you understand what I hav said? well to put it simple I still remember it and hum it on certain days although I have watched it a long time ago...ok?
The other stuff, well overall it is a good anime to watch during the holidays and it has the capabilities to make you more interested as you go on with the story, the emotions , the characters and many more will bring you delight. so I`m giving it an 8, any problems with that, write a review and show your opinion.

Vandread Second Stage is more complex then the first Vandread. This part deals with drama, comady, and action. The fighting in this gets harder and even intense. The main characters learns new lessons that they did not know before.
The differences between the two planets, the war against man and woman become clearer to understand. The enemy gets on the offensive and battles them with a new force and their power is unbelievable in it ferocity.
Like the first part it is beautifully drawn. All the characters stay the way they were in the belief that they will win no matter what was in front of them, and gets stronger in the end. Their freindships are strengthened and you even get to meet a new character that will instantly draw your attention with how human she acts.
I would recomend this to people who enjoy comedy, action, adventure, and drama.

The second stage of Vandread is by far the better half of Vandread. With the added bonus of not having to introduce all the characters, the second stage can just get right into the action and take all of us for quite an exhilirating ride.
The story takes place where the first stage left off. The Nirvana is still on its way home. However, it has the added problem of now having to deal with Earth's fleet of alien spacecraft yearning to just dismantle and absorb the ship into it's fold. We get a couple new characters in the form of Misty, a girl who has previously interacted with males in her past, and Kahlua, Ezra's newborn baby girl.
Once again, character relationships ultimately drive this anime. The trends continue here as well but we get some new ones as well as lose some of the old: Dita finally has some real competition for Hibiki through Misty. Jura is getting more and more interested in a natural birth. Barnette and Gascogne seem to be on each other's last nerve. Meia is continuing to mature faster than everyone on the ship. And Pyoro is learning the ways of alloparenting. Just another fun filled day on the Nirvana.
Battle scenes haven't lost their edge either. Each battle is usually able to top the previous, albeit they had to introduce a new Vandread form in the process. The final battle was quite amazing, yet predictable. No other way to top previous battles than by just having anyone who has a ship go into space and blast anything that's in sight.
Oh, let's not forget that Second Stage has quite possibly the most addicting opening for anime. Justice caught my attention right from the start and I can never get tired of listening to it. =)
All the fun that the first stage of Vandread was able to provide and more. It's also got that catchy opening. A very fun anime to watch. Pick it up if you haven't seen it. =)

The second season of Vandread takes the light hearted, lovable anime, and turns it into a serious, emotional, and meaningful show. Whereas the first season was kind of wacky and more focused on entertainment and comedy, the second season takes a hard look at some issues like identity, interpersonal relationships, the flow of history, and the meaning of friendship. Basically, it takes the episode from season one with Meia, and expands it to more characters. In particular, Bart, Gascogne, and BC become much more integral characters and less of sideshow distractions. I admit that it's not as funny as the first season, although there are still scenes that are hilarious. The producers were capable of the humor, but probably decided to take a different direction and I think it was a good decision. Hibiki becomes a more credible main character, and giving Dita some competition for his affection makes Dita more than a happy go lucky infatuated girl. The music is about the same quality, and the battles become more plentiful, but just as high quality. Earth as a villain is a nice twist, and the scene at the end when everybody comes together is really predictable and cheesy, but extremely well done and emotional for a cheesy scene. The ending is about as good as it was going to be, and overall the second season caps off a pretty spectacular show.

Well, if you've see the first stage, don't expect anything worse. The continuation is just as great with a very solid conclusion. I even wished Vandread 2nd stage would have some kind of OVA to follow up the heart warming conclusion.
Well enough of that, the details of the series:
The storyline is still the same, the male and female genders working together since they were once seperated into different planets trying to work together to get back to their home planet. However, in the 2nd stage you see more of a bond between the female and male genders more than you did before. Also, the romance part seems to be a lot stronger here. You even start seeing deeper relations with Dita and Hibiki which was very cute.
If you've seen the first stage, the animation is basically the same. By now, you are probably used to seeing the 3D mecha which you just grow into. For the sound, it was once again something that never lets you down. I also enjoyed the opening and ending theme just as much as I did in the previous series.
Finally, the conclusion:
Vandread is one of the few series really leaves you speechless in the final episode. You are just left their starring at the screen not knowing to say. You simply just smile, thinking pleasent thoughts and regrets about how it finally ended.

Many people think that first stage is better than second stage, but I don

Vandread Second Stage was a privilege to watch. The animation was crisp and the designs for the several ships were beautiful. There were a lot of unexpected events, very surprising and satisfying to the end.
I found that it was beautiful to see Hibiki finally turn into what he's been struggling to discover and how after all their battles, you get to see that they paid off (trying not to give anything away). Though I think in a way, the final ending with the big confrontation with the bad guy was kinda rushed with the explanations of their motives, had to watch it over again to fully understand the core of their meaning (no I'm not stupid).
Enough of the negative, those fans of the first one and love action, the 2nd stage will be a good closing to the series ^_^.

At first, I thought this was going to be another great story due to the First Stage's reputation. However, I was greatly disappointed at it. Of course it has the same characters and more powerful characters or should I say "Vandread", the combination of "Vanguard" and "Dread". However, this Stage has lost the crisis feeling when facing the opponent or the bad guy. The main characters just simply burst into a fight and then ending it rather easily. Compared to the First Stage, they have to struggle through the fight. More importantly, Hibiki, one of the few males in Nirvana, the story's main background, had lost his clumsy behaviour which was one of the funny aspect of the story. However, his affairs with Dita never seems to settle at all and by adding Misty into the story stirs up another affairs with Hibiki and Dita, ending them in a three side affair. Therefore, in conclusion, this is still a very great anime.

The second stage was much better than the first. I watched both stages together without the pause that came originally with the series. So in my mind, at least I can assume I'm fair in comparing them. The second stage seemed to succeed where the first didn't. Came off with a fore-knowledge of where it's headed, what its purpose was. It had a little better CGI, but not too much along with same great characters. Characters were developed better in this one. The soundtrack was amazing. It was a little less ecchi, but it compensated with some more heart, which I thought was an improvement. You still got some of the power of the mind stuff but unlike other series who fixate on it, this one did a fantastic job of keeping it in check and making it help the series. Plenty of humor for those who would expect it mixed with a great plot with some good twists. If you wanna watch the first season, this is a must and it earned its 10.

Vandread, what a great anime. Pity it ended quite aburptly... wait, what's that? You say there's a Second Stage? Bring it on!
Vandread, Second Stage literally starts from where Vandread left off, this time with more of the story revealing itself. Despite it's slightly darker theme, the Second Stage is just as good as the first.
All the familiar crew is here, with a few new characters. Notably, Hibiki's new love interest... !?!?!? Hahaha, if you liked how Dita and Hibiki were doing previously, this adds a bit more spice into that, LOL!
Anyway, what's there to say about this that I haven't said about it's predescessor? It's still got the great battle scenes, the cool transformations, wacky situations... PLUS thumping great twists and turns especially as the anime reaches its conclusions.
All in all, and excellent sequeal to an already excellent anime. Go for it! Reach for the skies! Somewhere out there, Nirvana awaits!!!!!
