Synopsis : Mech anime.... With a twist!
ZOE Dolores is a mecha series based off of a popular mecha PS2 game by Konami. Aside from being a series based off a game, its individuality comes from its interesting mix of family affairs mecha action.
James Links is your cargo labourer from the distant future who wants nothing more than a peaceful and happy life with his torn apart family. After working a load from Mars, James delivers a dangerous package back to his home planet Earth, during which he is attacked and is forced to reveal the "orbital frame"(mech) Dolores. James pilots the surprisingly human-like Dolores and ends up in a war he never wanted to be a part of.
Everyone wants Dolores but the reluctant hero thinks otherwise.
If you've played the game give this a chance, if your a mecha fan this may be worth your time, to others why are you even reading this?
Not ground breaking but interesting and entertaining enough.

After watching Zone of the Enders iDolo, I was extremely excited to see a series released. But that excitement quickly turned to disappointment. This anime simply cannot stand up to its OAV predecesor as it is lacking in serious mech combat (which is what the whole idea of Zone of the Enders is based around) as well as relevant information concerning the games and the previous OAV. The English dubbing was also sloppy and substandard, often mispronouncing words. Throughout the entire series, they refer to the Orbital Frame as an Orbital Flame. I do not recommend this series to anyone save for those who have no idea what Zone of the Enders is.

What can I say? This anime is so deceiving that I nearly have a big shock myself. I expect a lot of mecha action of sort, but never expected it to be so damn funny that I've enjoyed it very much.
The anime is very detailed and the animation is very smooth, with very few jerkiness here and there. Quite a marvellous graphics that Sunrise produces over here. Good job, Sunrise.
The sounds are normal, not really outstanding in terms of sound effect and themes.
The storyline are surprisingly good. There are a lot of twists in the story and also at the same time, a lot of hilarious and funny elements added (well, Dolores "herself" is very hilarious!!). Overall, very good storyline in the anime.
This anime is a definite worth watching. If you are looking for an anime with mecha action, it is not really a good anime for you, but if you are looking for quite a bit of action with a lot of funny elements, then this is the anime for you.
