From the beginning, I didn't have high hopes for this anime, only 12 episodes with blood and probably some dark vampiric plot...
I was only half right.

Animation: 9/10
Flawless, smooth and captivating.
Very pleasant to the eye, the characters are unique and well dressed.
The background looks quite good and serves the story well.
The action shoots are well animated, no complains there.

Characters: 9/10
One good thing that I can say, is that they're unique in their behavior, but sometime you have that need to shout in frustration: "JUST GO FOR IT".
Some character development throughout the story, but nothing great.

Plot: 9/10
There's not much to say about the plot without ruining the story.
I'll just say that the plot is great and addictive, but how much plot can you include in 12 episodes? Apparently not enough.

Music: 10/10
It is not the kind of music I would hum to myself while strolling the streets, but it suits the theme very well, and plays quite well in most situations.
Good pick.

Overall: 9/10
Very touching, sweets for the heart.
Great anime to get addicted to, shame that it's too short.
Although, I do recommend to see it in one go, 6 hours.

They say Tsukihime didn't live up to the expectations of the original game. I hope they are right. I gotta say, it didn't seem much at all. I seem to have overestimated this anime. I haven't played the game, but I feel that this might probably be a good example of an adaptation from a game… if the game is a good one. It just doesn't seem right at several places unlike Fate/Stay Night, the other Type Moon production, which didn’t give me this feeling of a bad adaptation.

Plot
It was a simple plot actually… It's just that the tempo of the anime got really, really slow and they love to complicate things the unnecessary way. The main character, however attractive, failed to make an impression in me. It all turns out to be a bland storyline with just a slight twist.

I can't argue much with the really slow pace of the anime, but the ending, to me, seemed like a pretty poor one. What and why the character did what she did isn’t really explained and, worst of all, it carries no real meaning. The ending seems to "just happen to be that way", like the characters have no effect on how it ends at all.

Story
Well, this is what people like about this anime… The mood setting, the individuality of the characters and the rather "unique" development in the relationships. I agree with the mood setting; it always seemed rather dark, quiet and mysterious; it feels excellent. However, it turns stale when there seems to be nothing much happening.

The love story gets interesting. However, it’s too short and happened too fast to have any impact on me.

Luckily, Shiki is no dumb boy, so it didn't become a dumb-boy-gets-all-girls harem. The problems is, they (not just him) never seem to speak a complete sentence. Their "um"s, "what?"s, "ok"s, etc, make the scenes really quiet, which turns it all dull.

Animation
With the quiet atmosphere and the slightly dark/pale animation, it creates a very good mysterious ambiance. There's nothing else to compliment about.

Music and Sounds
Well, I can’t say it's really much either. The ambiance is generally generated from the quietness, so there's no sound to praise about. It gets a little too depressing with the OP and the ED.

Overall
I seriously do not see where the real worth of this lies…. Ok story and stuff, but nothing really that worth watching.

When I looked the first time Shingetsutan Tsukihime, I did not understand the action at first. But I became curious. Therefore I continued to myself look at the anime.

From the action, the anime succeeded completely well. The action shows also in my opinion the sense of the life, and that everyone thinks about after one saw an episode of it. Unfortunately, it gave in the anime no happy ends between Aruceid and Shiki, which I had very much expected. Shiki and Aruceid had a strong relationship to each other. A happy end between the two would be at the best one. But there is the action to understand in some episodes of problems.

The music fits also well the Anime and the action. The initial melody works in my opinion mysterious and the final song affects me sadly and fits also well the Aruceid's story. In addition Aruceid appears she in the final song and always dances to the melody. The design of the author is typical for me for such Animes, since this Anime is partially also a Horroranime. One recognizes these typical designs well, if one compares these with the design of other Animes.

RESULT: The anime is very good and should be seen by everyone, however some problems with the action could get. But one should not be able to be irritated of it.

I liked the story and how it developed. The characters were all involving and individual. The one thing that I had trouble with was the inconsistent nature of the early episodes, how it was designed to make you confused like the main character was confused about the different things that was happening to him.

The romance in the show was rather different as well. With an impossible primary and a unrequited secondary, the love part of the story was sometimes moving and sometimes confusing very much like real life in that aspect. It very much reminds me of some of the other animes where the main characters are fighting and loving and dieing. I think that the ending leaves you feeling a little bit unfulfilled and at a loss.

Overall it was a well told if a bit confusing story that had wonderful animation and very moving characters. I would recommend it to most though it is a rather mature show, with the topics being life and death and it being a horror type genre.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime was surprisingly average and didn't live up to my expectations. The review showed good ratings and I decided to give it a try. I desperatly tried to stick with it during the first 2 episodes (dreadfuly boring). The real story started to really take off after that boring period. I still felt as if it was lacking something.

The story for Shingetsutan Tsukihime was a tweaked version of Dracula. So many versions of Dracula have been released but this was the first to put it into this type of aspect. The idea of "good" vampires and "bad" vampires was well done but I found it quite empty headed. Is there really such thing as a "good" vampire? A non-human blood sucking monster is in no way "good". It should be labled that some vampires are bad and some are worse. What is more surprising is that you don't see any other so called "good" vampires throught the story. Another group that really puzzled me was the Church Orginization. A rather anonomous group and wasn't explained properly. It did fine without an thorough explaination but the Church Orginization should have been explored a bit more.

Despite the somewhat average idea, the story was well developed and was explained to some extent. The fast romance was a bit on the confusing side. Arcuied supposedly "loved" him? After about 9 days with the protagonist they decide to hit the bed together. A too sudden love development. Other aspects of love was also poor. The school mate who also liked him really didn't stand out enough. She may have been a bit on the disappointing side but I really despised the protagonist's personality. His constant rejection to the fact that the vampire needed him was disturbing and extremely annoying. His reaction to events was unreasonable. If someone was lying to me all my life and I lived in the same house as them I would move out A.S.A.P. Other minor events like that really started to toll up and made me decide that the protagonist was ignorant.

The characters were done quite well. Personalities were so different from other people that it was refreshing to see them. Even though I felt that some people didn't make as many appearances as they should've had it was pretty well done. Like stated before I did find some of the personalities a bit off and empty headed but I found others done quite well.

Music really did set you for a mysterious story. The mysterious opening and ending songs really did take hold and pretty much explain what the anime was going to be about. The in animation music also did set a suitable mood depending on the situation.

Overall I found it a pretty average anime. The story was intresting but the little extra pieces that they fit in just didn't quite go in. The characters varied in personalities. Some were really poorly done and some were fun to watch. If you have some free time I suggest that you pick up this anime and try it out.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime is a story about a vampire princess named Arcueid, searching for someone named Roa. While on her search, she meets Shiki.

The anime is very deep and you will keep questioning who is who, why, and what and making you attach to every episode. (Trust me, I missed 4 episodes and I regretted it very much)

The story is very well written and very complex to understand if you didnt watch every episode. As the story unfolds, more questions were answered and love starts to bloom between Shiki and Arcueid.

The music in this anime is superb! The song catches the mood in the
opening and the ending.

The graphics are great but it always focuses on the scenery instead of the characters. But the anime really focuses on the story not the graphic.

Overall this is a very good anime and it would be a waste if you dont watch it.
P.S:Fate Stay Night is another one of TYPE-MOON creations.

I read a synopsis about the series and decided to see for myself if it was worth my time, and sure enough, it paid back more than full.

The plot for the series and the story itslef is very deep. It keeps you in suspense and keeps you questioning. As a result, you get stuck and continouosly watch in order to answer those questions. I admire as to how well the story was written. But there is a slight downside in terms of development of the characters. I whish they could have explained further the history of Roa and Arcueid instead of just showing fragments of what really took place. It could have also been well to reveal the background of the Tohno Family, and what exactly is Akiha. It seems that majority of the cast (Mind you, it was small) was underdeveloped thus didn't really leave that much of an impression. The atmosphere of the whole series is a bit dark and gloomy (with the exception of a very few comedic scene), therefore might not be suited for people who wants to see action rather than story.

Overall, I really liked the series and hope that it does have a re-make of sort(A sequle would be nice as well ^^). It reminds me of an H-Game I played a few years back entitled "Dividead"(Hope some people can relate to me ^^), which almost have the same story as Shingetsutan.

True Lunar Chronicle or Shingetsutan Tsukihime is an anime which comes from an H-game with the same title. Although it does comes from an H-game but the anime does not have any H scene except when Shiki make love with Arcuied but the scene is just in a flash so it can’t describe the anime itself as an H type anime. Consists of 12 episodes, a short anime but has very unique and interesting story. Definitely a must have for vampire story type of anime.

The story starts when Shiki moved to his house after knowing that his father died. It is not that he is back to lead his family but rather live there as a family member after being called by his sister, Akiha who previously stayed in the mansion alone with a twin maid Kohaku and Hisui. He goes to school and greeted by a glasses girl named Ciel. During the lunch time, news tells that there are serial murders cases happen in town. He get out class early and head home but before he got there, he coincidentally meets Arcuied but mysteriously He goes berserk and kills her mercilessly but ironically seems very easy. You got a hint Shiki is not a normal human. You see a flashback scene where Shiki is meeting a woman with red hair who gives him a pair of glasses saying that the glasses can block Shiki’s Eye of Death Perception view. In this view, he sees lines on every object and if he is to cut the line, the object breaks or dies. Okay, after he kills Arcuied, he faints. When he wakes up (in Tohno mansion), Akiha is staying by his side and when he checks on his clothes, there is no blood stains!

The next day, after class….. He went back to his house accompanied by Yumitsuka halfway. From their conversation, we know that Yumitsuka likes Shiki and she tells him that today is her birthday and will celebrate at a hotel. He went back to his house but the one who stands at the gate is none other than Arcuied who is supposed to be dead. Shiki runs away but Arcuied catches up to him and later they both got attacked by another vampire’s familiars. Decided to stay at a hotel, the have a conversation in which we know that Arcuied is a vampire called Shinso. She asks Shiki to help her kills a certain vampire but Shiki reluctantly accept to become her shield as she is still weak because she used up her powers just to revive herself. And so the story continues….

The artwork of this anime is good…nicely drawn background and lively, very detailed.

OP is decent. A choir plus good bass, church bell rings and piano equals to great music.I really like it but the ED is slow. Soundtrack or BGM is also good especially during fight scene and the ‘next episode’ scene. I wonder where I can download them.

Characters designs are good. It suited their looks, personality and voice. Example is Akiha who her eyes drawn bright and her face show that she is so high of herself and bossy. Her voice confirms them all.

The story is very interesting. Every character has their own background and unique. The story is very deep and full of twists and question marks. It keeps you watching this anime. I like it!

I rate this anime 10 out of 10……….Ahhhh I demand a sequel,Kagetsu Tohya but Kagetsu Tohya starts from Akiha’s ending not Arcuied’s. (-__-)

Although this was meant to be about vampires, it's not a typical film where you see a lot of people with their blood sucked out; from my point of view, the plot has more depth to it. I like the idea of the white princess, but I think that it is a bit strange having her 'from the moon'... (sailor moon comes to mind!).

There are many mysterious characters such as Shiki's sister and the maids; why is the sister so outcasted? XD Who is exactly is Arcueid and what is she doing on this Earth?

The series being a nice short 12 episodes, reveals many of the questions that you might think of whilst watching. The suspense is amazing and I think that the animation is beautiful~ Arcueid is so pretty! :)

I really like the opening and ending songs; the opening song has a beat to it that makes it more lively, it's a nice mixture with the voices whereas the ending is more peaceful. They're both lovely tracks.

Hmm... what else... I thouroughly enjoyed this anime, it has a nice plot, nice soundtracks, suspense, fantasy... just, watch it :)

This is a vampire show, but don't expect alot of action from this show, cause there is hardly action in it.

The show to me in my opinion begining episodes were good, in the middle I disliked the show cause of the useless things that were happening, and also the whole "mystery" that was happening, which kind of annoyed me. The ending episodes to the show were good, but I still thought the ending was shallow, just an ending you would see in a lot of animes.

The characters in the show I liked, the vampire princess she was hot, and you can get attached to her, basically she is the only character in the show you can get attached to. The main male character was okay, I would have liked more development from him, and more action from him. The senpai girl was just total junk to me in my opinion. She had no action at all, she was just a poser, as I saw in the posters they always show her with those huge claw looking things she is holding, that makes you expect some cool action from her, but she just sucked. Overall the characters were okay, just for the vampire princess girl. The character relationships were good between the vampire princess and the main male character.

Animation in this show was stunning, I loved the animation in the show. The character animations were amazing, and again the vampire princess, her red eyes make her look very nice, besides that lighting, and everything was great.

Music to the show was okay, the ending theme I never bothered to listen to, and the opening theme was decent.

The thing I don't get is why the hell is this show suggested for 16+ audience, I have seen Berserk with the same rating, but Berserk just destroys this anime in terms of graphic violence and nudity. Lunar legend had some violence, and some scenes were gruesome (well not to me), but it really lacked in action, and there was just one scene in the show that contained a SPOILER very, very, very, inexplicit sex scene, not exactly sex just kissing without any clothes on in bed. In my opnion I would reccomend this to an audience of teen, or should I say 14+ atleast.

Overall, this show was enjoying to watch, there were some useless episodes with usless stuff, but still gave out clues and kept you interested for the next episode to come. It had a decent ending, that can make you happy without smiling or anything. The big thing for me would be is that the show was too short, those type of animes where you are looking for a certain bad guy, it usually goes on for more episodes as the bad guy sends out his goons.

Good show, lacks action, decent romance, decent action, really nice animation, good music, good drama, enjoyed the show, = 8/10

It reminds me of Bram Stoker

Introduction
When I heard that it is a vampire type of anime, I was a bit apprehensive to download it 2 years ago, but in the end, my friend of mine burnt me one and gave me the series. And I never knew that I was drawn in to the intrigueness of the story, the mysterious and eerie environment, and the well-delivered character emotions.

Genre: Fantasy, Light Gore, Action, Horror

Storyline: Decent!!
Storyline is decent. I can say that it is not that outstanding, but I like the concept of the story since it is quite unique, but the vampire concept itself is not. I think it is not something to be in awe about. The abrupt ending of the anime and the fast romance is also not helping out in this department.

Graphics and Animation: Good!!
So far as I see, it has one of the good animation during it's year. The animation is also quite smooth with rarely any jerky feeling. One downpoint is that some parts of the anime is too dark to see anything even though it is supposedly not to be that dark. Other than that, the anime is quite good in this department.

Sound: OK!!
Somehow, this is one of the few anime that has OK sound in terms of everything: Sound effect, opening theme, ending theme, BGM, etc. I do not find anyone of them to be that outstanding.

Opinion: Barely Positive!!
This anime can be a disappointment to some fans, but I felt OK when watching it. Really recommended for anime fans who really have nothing to watch for and for vampire fans.

Rating: 6/10

I can't say this is your typical vampire anime, coz it isn't! Normally that would be a good thing, but not in this case. I didn't find it boring, just very very dull, extremely depressing and I truly felt I'd wasted my 2 evenings viewing pleasure on this.

The premise was OK and maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I'd not spent the last few weeks watching what seems to me dark, depressing and violent anime. It might be best to have not watched Elfen Lied and other depressing anime in such a short space of time, as this may have dulled my perception of this show. Anyway, I personally, didn't like it!!

Animation: It was OK, but nothing truly special and infact not as good as you'd expect for 2003, although the year it was made isn't reflected in my score!
I expected a little more visually when the characters were fighting and infact I had to rewind a number of times to actually catch what had just happened, as the fight scenes were over almost as soon as they started!
Everything was far too dark as well and it made it very hard sometimes, to see what was happening and although it was night time, it was too dark and I didn't feel it added anything to the scenes, it just detracted from my enjoyment.

The character design was pretty boring as well. OK, so Arcueid was nice looking and well designed but the rest were plain boring and could have come from any anime, there was no individuality where the characters were concerned.

Sound: All pretty boring really. I didn't really like the op & ed themes, they just didn't stand out, although the BGM was quite eerie and did fit well around the scenes.
The voice acting was nothing special either, there was noone who stood out and for once I didn't even feel like looking up who voiced whom - which is very unusual for me. The voices were very boring and monotone, just because it's a dark tale and there are a lot of depressed people, doesn't mean there should be no tone or intonation to the voices!!

Storyline: The first 2 episodes I found very boring and almost stopped watching this anime, but episode 3 picked up quite a bit and right up to episode 7, I thought I was going to enjoy Tsukihime, but for me, as soon as episode 8 came along it went downhill very quickly.

The whole thing was dull and I honestly couldn't wait for it to finish. I would normally have just stopped watching and put the DVDs away, probably never to see the light of day again, but I wanted to persevere, as under normal circumstances, something, theoretically, should improve but alas, it didn't!
The premise was good, a nice vampire tale (and there really aren't that many in anime, you could probably count them on the fingers of two hands!), but it wasn't a nice vampire tale! All the old adages were swept to one side and no longer do they fear the sun or drink blood, so therefore, how can it be a vampire tale?!!
The pace of the story was dull too and even the Tohno family secrets weren't that exciting, it was too predictable and quite honestly I didn't care who Roa was this time. The history of Shiki was a bit of a surprise and I guess it explained why Akiha was such a bitch to him in the beginning, but why she wanted him there wasn't explained, nor was why their father went berserk explained. It almost felt like the story was being made up as they went along.
The ending was Oh! so depressing, but I was truly thankful it had finished. I felt there was this black cloud hanging over me and couldn't wait to watch something bright and cheerful, just to try and dispel the feeling I had!

There was little history of what had happened in the past and Arcueid's and Roa's past relationship wasn't explained at all, there was so much more that could have been done with this story, but it just seemed to rely on lots of blood and bad dialogue to keep going, even the characters couldn't do anything for the story, so there is little to keep you entertained.
I won't say avoid this anime, as I seem to be in a minority with my views, but if you're looking for a good old fashioned vampire tale, you should steer clear.

Characters: The characters were DULL, so boring and dull, with one exception; Arcueid! She was the life and soul of the anime and the one and only reason I kept watching.

Shiki was boring and didn't have an ounce of personality, well not until the last 10 minutes anyway! He left his old home to go stay with his younger sister, but she treated him like dirt, did he complain and leave like any normal person? No! he stayed and sneaked out of the house!!

Akiha was so dull, god she was boring. There was no inflecion to her voice, she spoke only in monotone. She went to school, played the violin and nothing else.

Ciel was OK, I guess, although her resons for what she did were a bit strange and she seemed very much out of place and pretty useless most of the time - oh! except she's good at making tea *lol*

Arcueid was the only character with personality and considering she's dead, she was the only one who seemed to be alive, finding a simple trip to the cinema a thrill! (The only part of the anime that I found entertaining was the Vampire Hunter D movie poster outside the cinema they went to!). She was also the only character I had any empathy with.

Usually a bad storyline, or poor animation can be made up for with a host of wonderful characters, this anime failed to even do that!

I can't believe there's another anime for my discard pile (I think this one makes 16 out of nearly 400 seen!). It was dull, depressing and full of nothingness.
I personally, will never watch it again and almost wish I'd never watched it in the first place.

Something comes to my mind....Ahh it's nocturnal illusion (H-game)...
Wait there...this anime is based on a H-game ..of course... that's why it is so great!!...
No I'm not that perverted kind of guy (maybe I am) but some of those guys who make the storyline of H-games are really incredible....

This is anime is an example of what I mean...it is just great (I am a man of course but i'm more than sure that any girl will like it the same or maybe more)...Yess if you are a man more than 20 years old you will surely enjoy this series..the story is terrific: you can not know what is coming next ..you don't even know what is going on...

There are no stupid jokes and the graphics are great.....;moreover the opening song and the ending song are just amazing (I've never cared about the opening and ending song because all the ones I've seen just sucked); the sound used during the anime was also great (suitable)..and the ending is also outstanding...of course several things keep unclear but that's how is better (not for guys who want everything easy).

Ohh yesss! this anime is one of those things that make human life interesting....(even though I am not romantic).. now I'll just hope for Kana Little sister's anime: hope they make one and in the rigth way: including hentai scenes :)
