How in the world was this anime never brought to light, thats what I want to know. This anime is truly the under dog of all animes out there no kidding! I can't believe this series was actually a sleeper among us anime lovers.

This series has one of the BEST character builds I have ever seen out of all the countless number of series I've sat through. The development of each individual is amazing and memorable. This series reminds me of "Lord of the Flies" if any of you read the book. There are so many times where you want to slap and punch some of the characters but hey thats what makes this series so great.

Story: A group of teens try to survive on an uninhabited planet and growing up day by day. There are great twists and turns throughout the series that caught me by surprise. Trust me there is much more than just trying to Live for tomorrow.

Music: Very great setting with the melodies they throw in according to certain scenes. They pump up intense scenes with the perfect set of music. The opening is catchy I admit but nothing I would listen to forever. The ending, hmm honestly I just finally watched one of the closing and realized there is a nice Flash Book scene.

Graphics: I think the visuals are actually pretty good compared to other series during 2003. I enjoyed it a lot actually. I normally can't watch a series with poor effects or anything made in the year 2004 and lower - But since this series Had a nice touch I went with it.

Overall: This series deserves much more attention because it truly is one of the best series out there. Too bad it wasn't as well promoted and advertised as some others. I'm glad I happened to stumble on this series as I did my anime research. Seeing all these reviews made me NEED to check this one out. Just a bit of a warning. Don't get addicted like i did. 17 episodes in a day equal not healthy (made me push some important things back a day =( )

Check it out, You wont have any regrets!

I don't know why.. but this anime reminds me of "Muka Muka Paradise" an anime just like this one..

Survive was one of the best anime I ever watched.. this made me finish watching it in just 2 days.. leaving me with a warm feeling in the end wishing it never ended..

the story was superb.. I really liked the simple thought in it and the realistic way of it.. thought I don't really think that if u leave 7 kids alone in an island they will live.. because if they didn't die out of hunger they will die out of illness.
the characters are lovely, they all had their chances in taking their roles.
the graphics was simple, the way that I love it.
the songs, the OP wasn't really the thing that I will keep listening to it every time.. so I just kept passing it every time.. I didn't even know about the changes in the OP picture until EP 51 :P
I liked the ending better.. it was kind of disappointing that there was only one OP And ending song.. for an anime with 52 EP..

Any how, I really like this anime.. I just wish it was longer..
if u give it a chance u will be addicted to it. I’m even thinking of rewatching it the thing I usually never do..
just try it out..

Greatly under rated
I saw it by chance seeking another title...

This is one of the best animes I have seen.
I cannot beleive it has no fillers, it tells an interesting and believable story.
It is rare to see animes where children behave as such. Sure, some are special, but still are limited. Okay one is a technology genius, but he cannot make a spaceship out of thin air. You can be skilled in martial arts but you need saving.
All characters all well developed and the story has a satisfactory closure.
This is gem no one should miss.

Only bad is that it's short, but it tells the whole story without stalling which is good.
And Okay, towards the end, it is a bit too much, but I do not want to spoil the ending for a moment I thought it will end like Queen Millenia.

Not since Kaleido Star have I been so addicted to an anime. This is a truly underrated anime that is at times funny, other times dramatic, and sometimes poignant, but all parts just superb. Japanese kids are really lucky to be getting such quality educational programming, while here in the states we're stuck with a sponge in square underwear - *sigh*

Animation - 10: Very very subtle. I really liked the minimalist approach. There wasn't any snazzy effects, no big explosions, and barely any CG. The backgrounds are lush and detailed, considering how many different settings SURVIVE takes place in. The character designs are also very simple, and they are an effective way to convey emotions. Running animation was smooth and people blinked, and the spaceships, habitats, tools, stars, space, just everything was done beautifully. Superb.

Sound - 9: The opening song was nominated in one of those Best Anime Song CDs, and rightfully so. The opening gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, and the song is perfect for SURVIVE. I was also very surprised at how every scene in the opening was justified in the anime. There was only one opening though, so that was a bit of a letdown in such a long series. The BGMs made up for the lack of a second opening, perfectly fitting in the wide range of emotions presented in SURVIVE. Violin solos, piano chords, and the sound effects of the spaceships, tools, water, etc. were also done superbly.

Story - 10: This is where SURVIVE shines. The story is brilliant, suspenseful, and well-developed. I was awed by all the plot twists, all the sub-characters, and how great the anime twisted and turned to explain everything. SURVIVE begins with a Lord of the Flies type of story, with a bunch of adolescent kids learning about survival. The survival episodes were ingenious. I can list so many examples of how the kids used their knowledge of the future to make the uninhabited planet habitable, but that will just spoil part of the story. The plot takes a dramatic turn halfway through and then the plot plays a lot like Stellvia of the Universe or that book A Wrinkle in Time. It`s all just great stuff.

Character - 9: Although a bit cliched, the characters in SURVIVE are well-rounded and fleshed out. By the end of the series, I can feel for all the characters. Being a kids show, there really wasn't a character I hated. The voice actors all play their roles perfectly, with the exception of Sharla. Lordy I can't stand her voice. Kaoru is the quiet one, Bell is tough on the outside but weak on the inside, Howard is the rich b'stard, Shingo is the genius kid, Menori is the natural leader, Chako is the robotic cat, Sharla is the weak one that turns strong, Adam is the alien, and Luna is the hero of this adventure. Luna's given too much power, but SURVIVE instills a lot of emotional power and drama in these characters, and there were a few parts where I can't help but shed a tear.

Value - 9: Uninhabited Planet SURVIVE is worth your time. This is a very educational show with many deep morals like environmentalism, friendship, trust, and most importantly, the will to live.

Enjoyment - 10: This has become one of my top animes. I really enjoyed every moment of this. No one can really not like this anime unless they are tards who can't even sustain the thought of watching something mundane. Gundam otakus might not like this, but other than those, SURVIVE is a very beautiful ride. Even the title holds special meaning.

Average Rating: 9.5 (which rounds up nicely to a 10)

This is an interesting show. It isn't a gem mind you, but it was still a nice thing to pass the time.

First off, I got the feeling this was targetting a younger audience. Each of the characters are classic stereotypes a young viewer can either identify with of know someone to relate them to. The classic trials of friendship, hardship, family and the such are used well. The succession of events the diverse characters go through provide us with a front row seat to how they learn, endure, prevail, and mature with time. Each character is given his/her time in the spotlight.

Now, the animation wasn't anything special, but not bad enough to warrant complaints. The music was also pretty average, but I never had any real reason to complain. Truth be told, what made the series worth its while was curiosity, plain and simple. After a while, you'd actually be so very curious as to how this lost group of children would handle themselves, and ultimately survive on their own. What's more, whenever I felt the drive weakening, some twist would be inserted that'd bring me right back. So the pace was pretty much a success too.

As a rating, I'd classify this show as above average. It isn't something that'll make you yell out "WOW", but it's still something I'd recommend.
