A 10. YES a 10.
Okay, I'll admit right now, I'm a sucker for romantic incest. I find it to be THE most purest form of love despite the fact that it's forbidden. To those who are about to watch it be wary, you have to approach it with a very open mind.
Animation- Beautiful. Everything in the anime flows nicely, from the colors to the character designs, to the environment. Everything seems to have a really soft flow to it all. Compared to animation right now, it doesn't seem that great, but for a romance tragedy it suits it really well. From the subtle colors, to the sheer aesthetic beauty of it, the animation is so well executed I ended up watching episodes repeatedly to an obsessive level.
Characters- The characters themselves are the highlight of the series. Nanoka is, at first glance, a young, spirited high school student. But as the series progress you find that she is also quite complex. They delve it more deeply in the manga, but the anime definitely pulled her off very well. She's a dreamer, and extremely naive when it comes to society, which she doesn't believe is a big deal. However, she is true and honest and grows up as a woman with the guidance and mysterious love of her brother.
Her brother, on the other hand, is especially complex. Koushiro is the last guy you'd see as an anime hero. Face it. He's not attractive to most. Most people dislike this immensely but I found him to be amazingly presented. It shows an air of reality that not everyone is born attractive BUT they can still find love. He's an average Joe with a lot of messed up problems as he attempts to conform to society' standards. However, by the end of the series, I felt a deep connection with him. And he's really cute like a big teddy bear.
The characters bring the story alive and their relationship seems very real. You then have an aching pity for these two as the story unfolds.
Sound- The music is very beautiful from the OP and ED, to the Background music. It fits the mood extremely well and it really sucks you in.
Story and Presentation- The story is projected very well despite its 13 episode time constraint. I suggest reading the manga if you like the anime to fill in the gaps. The story is amazingly executed, and I found that this has got to be one of the greatest romances I've ever seen.
This anime deals deep into Aesthetics, love, pain, adulthood, society and family bonds. Warning to new watchers, approach with an opened mind and educate yourself on some Genetic Sexual attraction. Its very real. This story is very real. And its very beautiful.

Koi Kaze is simply, a story about a brother who falls in love with his sister, and his sister, who falls in love with her brother. An incest story. If this bothers you, and if you are at all normal it probably does, then you might not give this series a chance. Having said what its about broadly, I'd also say, its a moving, touching romantic story, one that I highly recommend.
The details are a bit more complex. A brother 12 years older then his sister, was raised apart from her. Now, when she is 15, and he 27, they are pushed into living together. Before they do though, they meet, and not realizing they are brother and sister, go on a date.
The music is beautiful, creating peaceful calm feelings, that go throughout the anime. The artwork is nice, but not outstanding. They save their best efforts for the characters, which are very nicely drawn. Particularly the girl who as one of the other characters says, sparkles. While the animation is not the best, it is nice and definitely does its job, flowing with the music. The OP and ED also have very peaceful, laid back music. However while the music is nice, I must admit, I watched the the OP and ED once and then skipped them the rest of the time.
The story was a beautiful romance, that if you can set aside the subject, was very touching and worth watching. It was weak however in showing how and why they fell in love. Before they realized they were related, they met twice, and talked briefly, and that was it. From this they supposedly fell in love? And to then overcome the burdens society places on them, it simply felt for me, that not enough time was spent on their falling in love, and their fight against society. Having said this though, the story was very well done even still. You can't help but feel a bit shocked when the girl confesses that she loves him. A bit stunned and wondering as he does, what exactly does she mean by love?
I have very mixed feelings about this anime. On the one hand it is a story about incest. On the other, the story is presented in such a way, that you simply cannot help feel for the characters. It makes you question what love is, and wonder how we fall in love with those we do. And finally, how do we measure love? The story cuts off after 13 episodes, leaving us to wonder what happens to them in the future. I surprised myself in hoping that they manage to find happiness together. That everything eventually works out. If you give this story a chance, I think you will feel the same.

I am personally against Incest and stuff like that. But Koi Kaze is a really beautifully told story, it was really an emotional ride, even though it was kinda disturbing. This anime is not for kiddies this is aimed for the more mature age bracket.
I've read the manga of Koi Kaze and i must say in just 13 eps they managed to follow the manga pretty well. Though they missed chunks out of Volume 5.
Character-wise I didn't find it revolutionary. The main protagonist Koshiro's character design, with his square jaw, I found to be kinda dull. Plus he has major emotional problems. Though the character design of Nanako-chan was rather cute, I thought. Also the color pallets used were kinda dull... kinda like a water painting, nothing too detailed, especially some of the backgrounds... but overall I found it be fine to the eyes even though some scenes were not to my liking.
Music set the mood really well, and it suited KK especially the OP.
The strongest point of Koi Kaze would definitely be the story. Forbidden love.... woah cant get more dramatic than that. Plus, I'm a sucker for a good drama, and this one is up there. Also KK felt real. Its not everyday when an anime drops an emotional bomb onto you. Though I think I was kinda disturbed with the Underwear/panty/bra sniffing.... that was just plain weird..... -_-", sexual desires for a girl 12 years his junior..... go figure.
At the end though it did leave me "hanging" which I don't like. For me it just begs for more questions. Where does the relationship go from here and there? The end was, I suppose, a happy ending, the confession of love by Koshiro.... but I felt kinda sad, with Forbidden love like this what future do they have? Very sad stuff.
To me this was a disturbing but powerful anime. Highly emotional stuff we have right here. Though if you feel you cannot stand this type of content I HIGHLY SUGGEST U STAY AWAY FROM THIS ANIME. The content being sticky issue with some people.
8/10... though I would find a more happier anime next time round to sink my teeth in to balance all this sad anime I've been watching lately. Too much emotional drama romance anime is a bit too much for me!

Introduction: the review of Koi Kaze, this anime has incest situations... so I may not recommend it to people who are sensitive to this theme.
Graphic (10) I love the graphics, it's so simple, detailed and easy on the eye, perfect for this kind of anime. It also brings out the beauty of simple things.
Characters (8) unique, simple and beutiful, the only people here with problem is the guy. Has too mach in his mind. While the girl just takes it simple, if she loves someone she sticks to it (see, simple) love the guys.
Music (7) well, music is good, simple (again...) and heart-warming, but music is not the strong point of this anime, so put less attention to it. but still nice opening and ending.
Story: (10) now this the strong point. I don't know why, but I love this kind of situation (but hate it when it happens to me) forbidden love of two siblings, now, that's strong love, they are willing to question the rules, just for their feelings... also I love the ending scene.
Conclusion: I recommend this to who is not offended to this anime, but truth to the matters. This is not really bad, it's just fictional. just focus on the word LOVE. Truly you'll love it (or not...)

One of the main reasons romance anime have much appeal to the majority of viewers is because most of them are idealistic stories. It is a norm for romance anime to have beautiful characters, fairy tale-like story, and a pleasing ending. However, none of these are what Koi Kaze has to offer its audiences. Instead of charming characters, we have an aloof, unappealing twenty-seven years old hero. Instead of poignant dialogues, hugs, and sweet kisses, we see a man who pretended to treat his younger sister not so nicely, but sneaked into the laundry to sniff her underwear and masturbate at night time. Because of its outrageous content, Koi Kaze's opinions would invariably be controversial. It would either be loved by some for its realistic incestuous story or be regarded as a disgusting work by many others. I, however, fall into the very small minority whose opinion is right in the middle. I found Koi Kaze to be a unique anime which dares to venture into the forbidden (and rather ugly) territory, but unfortunately, I am unable to appreciate this series because of the same reason.
One fateful, yet unfortunate encounter between Koishiro and Nanoka caused the antisocial twenty-seven years old man to develop a serious crush to a fifteen years old school girl. The couple, separated from one another for more than ten years, was completely unaware that they are brother and sister. While I must admit that Koishiro is not a likeable character, but I indeed understood his actions. At first, once he realized who Nanoka is, he tried to be cold and indifferent to her. No, Koishiro did not do that because he hated her, but it was because he realized that it is wrong to love her. In an other word, he felt ashamed of his feelings, and he struggled to do what the society deems right. The stronger their relationship developed, the more both of them grew to hate themselves. My favorite scene in Koi Kaze is the scene after both of them decided to be serious about their relationship. Instead of feeling happy, they were crying besides the river, asking one another if they should both 'jump down' and die together or not. In an other word, the more they loved each other, the more they despised their own existence. They both realized that incest is an unacceptable thing, yet, they could not do a thing to control their emotions.
My main reason which made me became unable to connect with both protagonists are different than many others. No, it was not because of the incest. Had I ever given a rat's ass about that, I wouldn't be watching this anime in the first place. It's the amount of time which both of them knew each other before they realized that they are related. Koishiro and Nanoka only met each other twice: once at the railway station (which was very short), and another time at an amusement park. I am not convinced that both of them could have loved each other so much from only those two encounters. It takes a longer time for love to become that strong. To put it simply, Koi Kaze did a Millennium Actress (i.e. eternal love at first sight manipulation) on me. Had this series spent at least three more episodes to develop the relationship of both characters before that important 'realization' scene, I am sure that I would have cared for both characters much more.
Perhaps because idealistic romance is my preference. Perhaps because this anime should have been at least three episodes longer. Or perhaps it's a bit of both, which might be why I did not fall in love with this anime like I expected myself to be. Nevertheless, I recommend it. Apart from the initially rushed romance, the story afterwards is excellent. Last, but not least, some reviewers complained about the ending, in which they thought that it is inconclusive. However, I was quite happy with it, and I think that it is better for this anime not to have a conclusive ending. I mean, after everything that had happened in this series, there is no way that any events afterwards could be even remotely enjoyable to watch. All in all, Koi Kaze is not for everyone. Still, give it a try. Just approach this anime with an open mind, and do not expect it to be an idealistic kind of work.
Animation
Koi Kaze's animation is its weakest aspect. For 2004 standard, it is below average. Many people argue that it is unfair to compare Koi Kaze's animation with its contemporaries because this series was drawn by hand. However, I think that it is still an invalid argument because of various reasons. First of all, the character design is very unappealing. Koishiro looks like a frustrated 40 years old man rather than a 27 years old guy. The surroundings are uninspiring, and I could not stand how they drew the hair on characters' hands and legs. They are just thick black lines one after another - ugly! Not what I expected out of 2004 production.
Sound
Both OP/ED are slow, but the tunes are not memorable at all. BGM is also mediocre. All in all, Koi Kaze has very forgettable music and I absolutely do not recommend anyone to get their hands on this anime's OST. Voice acting is okay, though.
Character
I should have given a ten, but I lowered one point because of Koishiro's father. There is one scene when he heard that Nanoka was still not home and his reaction was over the top. As this is a very serious anime, I had to take off one point because his action is out of place for anime of this nature.
Value
Although Koi Kaze is a romance, but it is not a romance which I would recommend to romance fans. Especially if you love idealistic romance series like Peach Girl, Hana Yori Dango, or Marmalade Boy, you may find this anime to be different in a rather unpleasant way. Instead, my highest recommendation for this goes to people whose favorite genres are not romance and are ready to stand an outrageously taboo incestuous story. Geneon released the R-1 boxset for this series last August and it costs $39.00 (at least that was how much I paid for my box anyway). However, if unlike me, you do not care for the boxes and you want to get this series cheap, rightstuf.com currently sells each DVDs of this anime for $9.99 in their bargain bin.

I have to say, I really dislike the idea of incestry. It can be quite disturbing. However, Koi Kaze is very beautifully done, and the emotions of the brother is very well portrayed. He realises his guilt and tries to go against his feelings, and some scenes are quite emotional. It's also quite humorous! I love Saeki's colleagues and his father, they're so cute and funny! I love the overprotective figure of the father, and the teenage-girls obsessed guy... XD
There isn't a huge range of characters, but it's enough for this series. The sibling's past is covered, and we get to know them better as the story progresses.
The soundtracks are beautiful, it suits the anime quite well. The art is okay, not really my style, but it passes. The dad is so cute! :P
The only thing is that I don't really like how they just suddenly developed their relationship... it seemed a little bit rushed... But overall, very nice anime. =)

This anime is based off the theme of a brother and sister falling in love, so if you cannot put behind you the theme, maybe you shouldn't watch it.
I wasn't sure whether I could take this anime or not. It is beautifully done. Art and music was nice, I have no complaints.
The story also seems so realistic, however, its so full of drama. It's as if you feel all the guilt the main character feels, and I, myself, just couldn't take all the drama. I noticed myself only watching a few minutes at a time before stopping, cause the guilty emotions from the main character was so intense. This may be something you might want to experience watching an anime, if you like to watch something so deep, but if you're looking to kick back and watch something while wasting away your time, this may not be the choice for you.
My only complaint is that as it gets closer and closer towards the end of the story, you feel less of that guilt from before, and it doesn't seem like the story resolved it either. It's almost as if there was no major climax to the story, so near the end of the series, you were just watching the characters live the days of their life, not caring about anything. (seems totally different from the beginning)

Okay, this is my first review ever! So bear with me a bit since I live in a county where English isn't the main language, you have to pardon my spelling.
Koi Kaze is... different from most things out there. Don`t know really if it`s a good thing or not, it depends on how open minded you are. And it`s kinda hard telling anything about it without telling some kind of spoilers.
This series includes adult themes that some people may find distubing.
Animation/Sound: There`s nothing too special in the animation, it`s not bad and it`s not overly done. I feel that it does fit this kind of anime and you could say that it's drawn in a bit more darker colour and way. It`s not your colour bright series with your typical animation like the pointy chins. And it`s kinda clumsy drawn as well, you know how their a bit to lazy to make all the details sometimes but still very nice. But one thing I don`t like is when they change angles, since sometimes they seem fater then they are. It`s like they gain and lose weight in an instance sometimes. You`ll see what I mean, all you really have too do is check out the intro. The endings kinda different, they show people walking on the beach and it looks... strange since the guy in the back looks a bit of, but later they show more and more of them so it changes abit over time. Nothing special in the voice acting either like most animes I`ve seen the voice acting is good and they have a feel in so they don`t just read everything from the script. The opening and end song are both kind of slow so you don`t get any hyped or beat like T.M Revolution or anything like that and it fits in, havent read the lyrics so I'm just saying this from what I can hear.
Story: It has a good and deep story that gets you hooked very fast because every episode get you wondering what happens next and you keep wondering how everything's gonna end, if you can get your head around the theme of this series that is. They do have a kinda fun thing in this series, insted of a preview of the next episode they have something called "Chidoris Punishment". Pretty fun thing to have as well as a bit diffrent. Another thing that makes it good is that it don`t give you any hints about the next episode. Like I said you kind start wondering about what`s gonna happen next so this way it doesent give anything away.
Character: There arent many characters in this series since it`s so short and "heavy". It focuses mostly on the two main characters and the other cast members just help show who they are. Nothing to uniqe since their all just normall people with everyday stuff to handle, it`s not like they show the same kind of face all the time. They`re just normal people diffrent at home and at school/work like most people. But it also show something that probobly is happening at this very moment even if it`s not the exatly same thing, stuff like this do happen. I do get abit tired of the main male character sometimes as he`s kinda weak minded at some points, you`ll see what I mean. I don`t think that they change all too much since it`s kinda short but they do have changes and it shows as their relationship with each other change and thay start doing stuff they normally wouldent do. I should warn you that there is alot of monologs.
Value/Enjoyment: I'm not sure what kind of enjoyment it is since this stuff do happen... but as I said it`s quite entriguing and keep you wondering about what happens next so thats good. It`s not the kind of series you watch over and over again since it have a quite serious tone in it, maybe you`ll watch it again after a few year or something but not over and over again as I said. But I do think it`s a series worth watching. But in the end it`s still not something I would recomend to everyone as you do need a open mind to watch this. I`ve told some of my freinds about this series and I don`t think they want anything to do with this series.
Anyway it`s about a guy whose like 28 or something and still lives with his father, who gets dumped by his girlfriend because she feels that he doesent really love her or anything like that and gets a new boyfriend. He`s kinda sad after they broke up but not over the fact that he lost her but because of what she said to him(I think at least, don`t really remember. She asked him if he's ever loved anything or anyone as he keeps thinking about it.). And then one day on his way to work he sees this 15 year old high school girl who drops her train card so he gives it back and you might say that he feels some kind of connection with her. The next day after work he recives a couple of tickets to the amusment park and sees the girl outside of his work place where she`s wating for her dad, so he ask if she wanna goes with him (Don`t get all freaked out on me now) she says yes and they spill their hearts out. He tells her about his ex and stuff and she tells him about this guy she had a crush on but got rejected from, he cries and stuff. They come out of the amusment park and are about to part their ways without ever knowing the name or who the oter person was when her dad shows up... and it turns out that the girl happend to be his 13 year younger sister that`s been living with his mom all this time. And he`s freaked over the fact that she saw him crying and behaves kinda immature over it all. But the thing is he becomes attracted to her, YES he`s sexually attracted to his little sister and he feels really guilty about it so he behaves like an jackass because he can`t stand the guilty when he sees her and so another day of selfdisgust begins. And now you can freak out on me. This brings up the qustion whats with japanese people and being attracted to their cousin, sibling and stuff like that, theres like I don`t know how many stuff like that in mangas or like in an other series I'm watching "Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai" where the cousin is attracted to the guy. Either way, Koi Kaze is kind of intresting because of how focused it is on this topic and it is disturbing yet captures you in the story because you just have to know what happens next, how is this whole thing gonna end??? I really can`t see how it`s gonna end and that is a good thing that doesn't always happen in a series.

The incest theme is obviously a major disturbance to the anime. However, this did not affect the quality of the series at all. Incest-based series have been popular in Japan (take Tsumi ni Nureta Futari or Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru as examples) and hence, the theme of the anime is tolerable and can be placed aside.
Graphics: Beautifully rendered. Stayed true to the original. The fluidity of movements and the atmosphere created via the animation is enchanting.
Music: Beautiful and easy to listen. The graphics and music depicts it's "Classical Anime" style. An absolute plus to the series.
Story: Well brought out and flowed smoothly without a jolt. Characters are believable which adds realness to the series. Usually, in many incest-based stories, the love-torn siblings usually end up being shunned by society and will either suicide or elope - the latter being the most popular with reasonings such as "love conquers all." Though such results are evidently appealing to most audience, the result is obviously unrealistic and unconvincing. The reactions of Koushiro and Nanoka is the exact opposite, which is yet another plus to the series.
Overall, a beautiful anime with deep and meaningful storyline. Slightly slow-paced and emotional but the animation and music makes them all the more tolerable. I love the fact that the anime portrayed a typical life of the working class in Japan to the audience through Koushiro, bringing freshness to the anime as oppose to the typical shoujo/shonen style anime.
In my opinion, a must-see, however, I do warn conservatives and youngsters to stay away from "Koi Kaze" as it might be morally disturbing or unacceptable.

This show was a total suprise from left field.
The entire story centered around a brother and sister falling in love and yes contains incest. Putting the shocking detail aside, I thought it was fairly well done on characterization. Both brother and sister become very confused and ashamed of their feelings for one another, and their reactions were very realistic in my opinion.
This series is chalk full of drama and nothing but drama, so if you like dramatic series such as Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and want something fresh and totally different in theme, give this a try.
If you want to watch a people with some serious problems in their lives, also give this a try =)
The animation is a bit different as well, they go for a more realistic look than the traditional anime style which adds to the excellent characterization in this series. Above average series, 7/10.
