One word: Boring.
That’s all that it takes to really describe this series, which is a very big shame seeing as how this is under the genre of Fantasy/Magic and is about Swordsmen, adventures and such, and that the Game was rather popular. From the perspective of an anime fan (since I’m not really into the game I won’t be able to really make accurate comparisons to the game), this series is a total FAIL.
Cliché plots and stereotypical characters aside, the fighting sequences were really pathetic and pretty much static. The least they could have done is to induce elements of the gameplay of the game to improve them. What’s worse, there were barely any attributes and aspects from the game, especially the different classes such as Assassin, Acolyte etc. which were, in my opinion, the highlight of Ragnarok.
The animation wasn’t impressive either, which is a big letdown since the graphics design for the game was better. (And it’s not as if the game was done in 3D—it was pretty much that of "anime-style graphics and quality")The music was rather mediocre, though the OP was pretty good.
In short, this series really isn’t worth the time watching; even if you are looking for good ol’ classic Magic/Fantasy/Adventure series with simple plots of saving the world, there are ones out there way better than this.

A disappointing anime indeed, especially to a Ragnarok fan. Although the story is appealing to little kids, this anime seems to downgrade some of the more memorable parts of RO. I.E The Classes and their cool abilities.
~Animation:
The animation is quite poor, with staticy and almost half-@$$ed animation. You'll see some choppiness every now and then and sometimes characters lips move without words coming out. This gets irritating at times especially when your watching more then one episodes in a sitting, trying to figure out what the hell they are doing, because the animation is sometimes THAT bad. Occasionally the character designs and outfits are simply terrible, making you wince and wondering which job class this loser is. Although the animators seem to put more effort in female characters, because the female characters look 100x better than the males. Sometimes even the great Iruga looks terrible.
~Plot:
Generally not something to write home about. Its your typical save the world story with a group of adventurers and their corresponding love interests and evil conspiracy group to revive a great evil. Its actually really over done with the main hot head and the damsel in distress etc. The bad guy ain't that great either, and the plot is riddled with so many choppy battles you forget it real easily.
~Characters:
Typical hotheaded hero? Check. Not to mention he's totally useless in the beginning and turns into a jerk once he turns stronger. Yep...
Damsel in distress that makes you want to pull your hair out? Check. She's also super selfish too and pretty dumb in thinking that her evil brother is trying to help her when he tried to kill her and her pals for the past 10 episodes. WHOOPS? Was that a spoiler? Well you can see it a mile away, especially when the bro wears a sorry excuse for disguise.
A typical quiet bad ass character? Check. Iruga actually owns everyone, too bad he's always injured half the time.
Typical good guy that turned evil? Check. We got plenty of them.
Child tag along? Check, she also has a pet pink boring jelly blob!
Confused chick that loves a madman? Check.
None of the characters really stand out cept for Maya, Alice, Zealotus and the two semi badguys in the background, Baphomet and the witch. Aside from that you'll get pretty annoyed at the main group more than once. Oh and guess what? They also have a team rocket group! YAY! *Sarcasmx100*
~Game relation:
The anime has most of the towns and classes you see in the game, as well as some monsters that are native to the MMORPG. Even some of the NPC's are present like the kafra ladies, the talking dog in the wizard guild and even the sailors and the little girl in Alberta.
However there are some downsides, like some character classes are shown in a real pathetic light, for example Rogues are meant to be bad@$$ but the two you meet are like the ridiculous Team Rocket. Blacksmiths are also really corny, and Merchants *aside from Maya* are scum bags. Not cool at all, especially since these two classes are my favorite. Also some moments in the anime are just so corny and lame!
Add that in with a pathetic character cast It's painful. If they had a better group of adventurers, It would be SO Much better! DX.
The characters also never seem to learn. I mean Keoh proved to be QUITE evil and tried to do them in way too many times, yet Yuufa still follows him around like some sick puppy. Takius not only wears a blindfold and seems to be blind physically, but mentally as well since she doesn't realize what a psycho her sensei is. And it took 3 females to tell Roan that he's a muscle head.
Sad indeed...
This anime is ok, but it will get on your nerves especially if you can think properly. Oh and was I the only one that yelled out loud when Keoh and Zealotus, and the psycho teacher kept appearing and disappearing in almost every episode?

Introduction:this a review for Ragnarok the animation... disgusting. I was once a RO addict, but I got bored and it cost a lot. When I heard there was an anime based on the game I once played... I got so excited and bought the complete episodes. Then... I just wasted my money, why? here's why:
graphics: (1) very poor, it's a piece of crap. My drawings are way cooler than that x10. They didnt take it seriously. The trailer of the game is better than the anime.
character: (2) they're kind of boring people and badly drawn too. They even annoy me.
story: (2) boring... the same "save the world" routine, even the romance scenes suck... no reaction. My story would even be better than theirs.
sound: (3) stop the music, its pretty repeatitive, and the anoying sound of the commercial cue. the we are the star song in very bad... its has a kiddy feel, I didn't even know the singer.
over-all: they think they can get away with some crappy animation, by using the games popularity... it's so evil, when I got to episode 19 I already had given up. Highly not recommended.

Rather poorly done anime with weak referencing to the game whatsoever. The whole sequence does not feel believable even if its just a representation. people who have played RO for quite sometime knows that a Holy Cross could not outdamage Grand Cross and therefore is not appropriate to be used against Dark Lord. Some characters are just eye candies. The monsters do not look like they come from the game. The effects of the skills are very corny and do not match the effects from the game at all or at least be as believable as the ones in the game. I gave it a 4 because the story was okay.

Ragnarok: the Animation is an anime solely based on the Ragnarok MMORPG game. The story is great, but the battles are quite redundant.
Story: Roan, the swordsman, and Yufa, the acolyte, are childhood friends. Together, they embark on a journey to train themselves and to know the cause of her brother's death in Glast Heim. After meeting some more people, and some adventures and misadventures, they found out that the undead forces were controlled by no other than Yufa's older brother, who was supposed to be dead. The journey to save the world now begins...
Well, the story is kinda good, but the battle animation was, somewhat, not that appealing, especially if you're a RO player. If you aren't, well, then try playing it to understand this anime more. This anime lacks some background info on job classes, monsters, etc.
And either they are always lucky or they are super strong to defeat such powerful foes...
Music: Both the opening theme and the ending theme are good, and the BGM is ok. BGM suits every place they went to.
Characters: Well, they are properly animated like the game.
Graphics: Skills animation are somewhat cool, but you might get tired of it if you saw it a couple of times already. Monsters are quite animeted well, though some of them lack some kind of actions to make them look more hostile.
Overall: Better play the game. The anime has a good plot, nice animation, but lacks information. Non-players may find this anime not good. I'll rate it at 5

I give it a 6
the story was pretty great but the heroine's attitude could get on your nerve easily.
As an RO fan, I also think that the battles were completely one-sided.
The monsters were either too weak, or the party was overly empowered like how beginners can take out a big-ass clock tower manager...
The music was pretty good I especially like the ending theme.

Ragnarok The Animation. I came across this name from an online game, Ragnarok Online (RO). In fact, the story was based on the game, not on the original Ragnarok manga.
The story starts off with a pair of Swordsman-Alcolyte (male-female) adventurer wandering here and there meeting people along their way. The Swordsman, sought to protect the Acolyte and so, they journeyed together. Apparently, the Swordsman had a crush on the Aco, so he'll usually do whatever she tells her to do and will protect her even if it means his life. However, later in the story, he finds himself not powerful enough to do so and so, he went away from the Aco to train himself. What will happened to these Swordsman-Acolyte pair?
The story uses a lot of dragging and meaningless battles to make it so long. Also, there are a lot of repeatition in the skills. RO player may find it normal, but if you're not, you'll think that it's not very impressive. In fact, that's how the game is played, using the same spells/skills over and over again and again.
The OP and ED is very nicce in this case, definitely great. Also the graphics/arts, they're great too. The characters are cute and nice.
To sum this up, this isn't a great anime if you're not a RO player cause you wont be able to enjoy the storyline very much. However, if you're a RO player, you will feel this is a very great anime. Due to only apart of the audience may find it entertaning, I'll give it 6.

I started playing Ragnarok Online recently, and watching this show is just like a dream come true. Seeing the characters in action is even better.
Characters-Roan the swordsman, and Yufa the acolyte, Maya the merchant, Taqius the magician, Iruga the assassin, Judia the hunter.
Storyline- Should i say just as expected of Ragnarok? Adventure! But the adventures are unexpected! It is so similar to game in a way, and different in a way. Most things follows the game, like cities and hunting places, creatures and more. Theres also the plot of reviving the dark lord! And the culprits are Yufa's elder brother,Kyo, and Taqius's teacher! But is it true? And Iruga has some past with Kyo?! And Roan is helpless. But later on, Roan, Yufa and Taqius advances in jobs. And many more!! 10/10 !!
Music- Opening wasn't that good...the ending was really good 9/10~
Actions- Really ragnarok style! (Magnum break! Heal! AND MORE!) 10/10!
Graphics- Also Ragnarok style, cuteness is everything! (Poring~) 10/10!

Fantastic anime! The story caught me with in the first episode and from that point i was hooked:
Character development: 7/10 the stories of the character's were touched on but other than Roan, and Yuufa they didnt go too deep. they could have gone more indepth on the rest of the characters especially Iluga(the assassin) It seemed though that the main character Roan would get his arse kicked repeatedly. atleast till he became a crusader.
World development: ?/10(i cant make a good judgement since i dont play Ragnarok online) The world seemed to be pretty decent though IMO they could have elaborated more on the locations, me i was kinda at a loss for where they were and who those girls in the maid outfits were and their significance in the world. (for NON-ROnline people)
Story-line: 10/10 Fan-freaking-tastic on my 24 hr duty i couldnt help but wonder what was going to happen (i was 4 eps from conclusion). The story involved a wide spectrum of emotions that really enchanced the story.
OST: 6/10 The BGM was good it really suited the situations and the SFX matched perfectly. The OP could have been better. I felt it didnt match the feel of the anime. The ED also could have been better for a 2 season series it could have changed op/ed after ep 12.
Graphics: 9/10 the animation was good really good the armor and everything. the way roan was dressed to the monsters it was all though out nicely and designed well. Though i would have wanted the op scenes to have changed after ep 12. to match more of a current part of the show. However its fight scenes were great.

Story starts out as a party (group of people who hunts monster) getting killed in the forest...then it shows our main character. These two character goes out in the world full of adventure and many excitement. they go through physical and emotional struggle. from love to hate all emotion minipulated.
The animation might have suck a bit since it looks childish like an amateur drew it (reminds me of a friend of mine).
I admit the music fits the game and the anime, but I don't like it that much.
The concept of betrayal and love was used quite well towards the end- I thought it fitted the series very well...
I give it a 9 only because the music sucks

First thing's first... to be able to enjoy this anime.. you HAVE to be a Ragnarok Online Fan and had quite an experience in it as well... or else.. there's no point understanding this show. But to me. I

No matter how I look at it, it is less than average.
As a Ragnarok fan, I would say it deviates from the reality of the game, and violates more rules than the than you can ever imagine. It is completely ridiculous and does not capture the essence of the game. For one, the proper levels of characters were not put into consideration. A character of such low level CAN NEVER survive the monsters they fought and beat in the anime. I bet the writer wasn't familiar with the game play.
Even from the point of view of an anime fan, it's still ridiculous. The plot is ordinary and redundant to the point of sickening, and most of it doesn't make sense (Search for "the Truth"???). There's no real connection between viewer and character. (Actually, I can even hardly understand what their goal is

There are two ways to look as such an anime: as an anime fan, or as a fan of the game.
As an anime fan, it'll seem very average. The story is pretty cliche, and borderline illogical at times (a character sides with one who's been repeatedly trying to kill said character, tis true!). I found myself overlooking some of these quirks to see it through to the end, because despite its shortcomings, you still want to know how it ends. Animation was decent, and the character design refected the game's look and feel pretty well.
As a fan of the game, I'll always enjoy the show. It just feels good to see characters you've been playing with take on a life of their own, not to mention seeing the spells and skills on more detail. Now, many say the spell and skill animations are repeated too many times. I'll have to agree on that. But when you take a step back, you realize this is a reflection of the gameplay. Honestly, this is how the game is played: repeated skill casts, heh. This is why I felt the game and anime fans can't be 100% reconciled here.
Basicly I'd recommend this title to a Ragnarok Online fan in an instant, but I'd be careful when showing it to a non-player.

Animation:
I only give this series an ok rating ( tolerable; not too smooth, especially some fighting scenes ), but the use of skills ( VERY repetitive ) and some actions further lower the grade.
Characters ( may contain spoilers ):
I didn't like some of the characters because they were really annoying. The following are examples: Yuufa still wants to stay close to her brother despite certain actions he had done to her... quite a few times in fact. Roan was at first a weakling who'd drool over Yuufa. Later in the series, he became a rather self-centered creep who lowers the morals of other party members. Takius kept on persisting in her loyalty to her master even after he has already betrayed her in her face. There were only a few characters that seemed ok in the entire series, like Iruga, who remained cool all throughout the series.
Story:
Not very great. I expected something greater since this was based on a very popular MMORPG, but this was instead some joyride of a "characters looking out for some adventure" story. It was faithful to some elements of the game ( emoticons, stores, skills ) but not to most elements ( befriending monsters to win, bosses cooperating/against boss, cooperation, no "return to save point", monsters living in cities, etc. )
Sounds/Music:
I didn't like them much at first until I heard the entire songs of both OP and ED song.
Being based on a very popular MMORPG, I expected this to be greater. But somehow, the plot is just bad. In the online game, you defeat monsters by just beating the wits out of them, but in the series, you defeat some monsters ( especially bosses ) by BEFRIENDING them!? This is why I didn't like the series much: it's not too faithful to the MMORPG.
