I think that this show is spectacular for being shounen-ai, but it really had no real shounen-ai scenes, so it did not make me nauseous like the genre normally does.
The story is much better then I expected. We start out with a trans-dimensional high school student who ends up becoming the ruler for a rather undemonic demon kingdom in a different world. Then he starts popping back and forth between worlds when his kingdom needs him.
My only real complaint for the show of course is the whole shounen-ai aspect that figured rather centrally to the story and plot. Fortunately there was no kissing or anything of that nature involved.
Next the animation was ok: nothing all that good or really bad. The music was the same - just ok. This show basically had a pretty good story with a lot of humor added to the mix.

Kyou Kara Maou makes me laugh. Hard. I started watching it on a whim and was hooked. And it is because of the comedy in the show that I would give it a seven. Otherwise it is a pretty average anime.
The animation is not particularly spectacular. It's okay just not great.
The plot is enough to keep you going especially when it gets toward the end of the series and it starts to get down to business. The one thing I admire about this series is that it doesn't take itself to seriously. Even when it is supposed to be a dead serious plot spot it still gives you a laugh to even things out.
Also I appreciate the originality of Yuuri's entraces and exits to the demon kingdom and the humor in his relationships with the other characters. All the characters are cliche in one way or another and it just adds to the humor. It's ability to joke about shounen is one of the things that makes it worth seeing.
Music wise, once again not particularly spectacular. It is obvious that when they made this they did not go the extra mile on the music. It matches the mood at least. And there is that catchy little tune that goes with the extreme funny parts that are fun.
If it were not for the fact that it makes me laugh out loud at least once an episode I might not have given this one such a high rating. But because of the humor it deserves to be watched. Also if you are uncomfortable with yaoi humor (as of yet havn't seen any response from Yuuri back to any of the companions that are in love with him so I don't count it as Yaoi) I would strongly advise you not see this. If it doesn't bother you then this show is absolutely fantastic.

This is an excellent anime. I can't seem to wait for the next episode to be released. It's great to see that there are still some good anime coming out. This anime is so captivating that I was hooked on to it a my first go. It's hilarious and there is a great connection between each of the stories, the only thing that I do not like about this anime is that there isn't enough pretty babes to go around with the hunks. Most of them all seem gay, with Yuuri engaged to a GUY!!!
But anyway, it is a fantastic anime to be enjoyed, but sad that it is licensed already.

This anime is a great one for all of you fantasy, comedy, action, and shounen-ai lovers. The characters are all full of life, with the exception of the boneys, which are in fact skeletons!
Yuri, the main character, is a high school boy literally "flushed" into another world through a toilet, a girl's toilet no less! Once there, confused and lost, he is taken by suprise by the local human villagers, who don't speak his language, they fear him, they throw rocks at him, and then one of them squeezes his head so hard it almost explodes (this could only happen in an anime like this lol)!! I can't get enough of Wolvram, who Yuri accidentally preposes to! Did you ever think that slapping a boy's cheek would be the same as kneeling to him with a ring in your hand? Though the boy's relationship moves a little bit slowly (kiss him already!), it's still really intresting to watch! This anime can actaully teach you a lot too, like different customs in different countrys. I won't be slapping anyone anytime soon!

As I was watching the first episode of this series, I became instantly hooked up with it. Kyo Kara Maou fortitude relies on its humor. You'll going to discover many comedy scenes, which inconspicuously help to conceal the deep story rooted within. Everything begins with a boy who is whisked away into another world through a water portal. As he attempts to accustom himself in that bizarre world, soon he finds out that he's in fact the new Mao, the Emperor of demons. Within a short time our hero learns more about the strange world and uses his newly acquired, royal powers to stop the war between demons and humans, who once lived peacefully together centuries ago.
The animation quality is exceptional, but I'd say the fighting battles could be a lot improved. Overall, this anime deserves a solid 9. A must watch for the ensuing comedy.

This is one of the BEST animes ever. Although the plot is a little slow sometimes, the story is interesting enough to keep your attention until the end (but the story has soo many twists!). Lots of things pop up when you are least expecting it... well, not least expecting but still, it's pretty out-there stuff. But anyway, it's an awesome series to try, especially if you don't mind shounen-ai, although there isn't too much of that either. So go start it and decide what you feel for it yourself! :-D

Kyo Kara Maoh - licensed these days - drew the attention of anime aficionados first by having a very attractive cast of male characters:

One day, I stumbled on a FTP links somewhere in a somewhat forum. So I visited the links and download a few episode of kyou kara maou. The first impression? A bishounen anime? I thought of deleting it but at last give it a go. So it is about a boy who is supposed to be a king of a country in other dimension and the only way to reach it is by using water. I mean a lot of water. The plot bodes well and I got hooked and download the subsequent episodes.
Of course, what you expected to be a king at such a young age? It is too naive to prevent war but in this anime you can see how he tried to win other people's respect.
One of the main attraction is of course the gags. So guys, download it and give it a try..

This is one of those laugh out loud kind of funny anime. It's seriously hilarious (if you don't mind a few gay jokes here and there) and one of the few shows that I just can't wait for the next episode to be out! It doesn't really have a plot, but makes every episode stand on it's own (like Azumanga Daioh). This anime is much more directed to girls who are fans of bishounen, but if you have an open mind, anyone can watch it. It's a really good series and very funny. (That doesn't sound very convincing, but really, it's a good series!)
