 | Autumn is my favorite season and no better place in the world to enjoy it than in New England. It's been years, maybe even over 20, since the last time I've been to a fall fair, so this when I went to one this year with some friends, I wasn't sure what to expect.
To someone who loves city-life and isn't much of a farmboy, looking at pretty flowers, goats, and oversized apples usually isn't high on list of things to enjoy... of course, any chance I have to get out of the house and get some fresh air and sunlight is also fun to me. Plus, with all the animals around, it was the perfect chance to develop some more of my photography skills.
I had to leave the house early to go pick up Nigoki (Doug), then it was another 30-45 minutes before we got to Melissa's house. After a nice breakfast at a local eatery in historic Salem MA, we were on our way to New Hampshire.
Since my photos tell a better story than anything I write here, I'll provide the link to my album that contains over 200 photos and probably about 30 videos:
Webshots Album
Most of the photos are from the farmdog demonstration in which a local farmer showed the crowd how a team of border collies can guide a flock of sheep toward a specific area. The second half of the photo collection is the K-9 police dog attack demonstration that has some really neat footage. Most of the fights happened right in front of me, so the action is pretty decent (though I couldn't adjust my zoom after I started recording, so shots are a little tight).
There are some good horse photos in there, as well. Take a look and tell me what ya think. ^____^ |

 | Personally I've drifted away from anime for awhile now, but while that has happened, I've become a very badly addicted drama geek. As of yet, I'm not really 'hardcore' but I've been scrounging around for Jdramas/movies, and Kdrama/movies.
It all started with the Kdrama, 'Goong' (å®®). Honestly, that's probably when I started getting massively hooked. Which explains why I am currently suffering a mild headache from bawling my friggin' eyes out while watching 'Hana Yori Dango' (花より男å?). The final episode got to me, I hate to admit it but I'm such a big cry baby when it comes to emotional films. With all this said, I'm still desperately awaiting the final episode of 'Hanazakari no Kimitachi e' (花ã?–ã?‹ã‚Šã?®å?›ã?Ÿã?¡ã?¸) to be subbed and released. [better known as Hana Kimi]
Heh, I know as a staff writer I really should be writing up reviews for the dramas I watch, but I'm one blasted lazy fat ass so those will have to be on hold, if they do end up happening that is. But really I think you guys should watch the 3 dramas I've suggested, you can probably find them streaming somewhere online so that helps bypass all the icky bt-ing and what nots.
How about this, if you don't like it...you can smack me around. Good deal huh? Oooooh... there's a second season to 'Hana Yori Dango'!
Anyways I hope you guys are enjoying school. Mine's pretty much a big bummer, but hey at least I don't have to grow old and wrinkly with each passing day like Kaiser does. *laughs evilly* |

 | I would just like to share this little set of pics which was taken during the August long weekend...
Some of you might have seen the pics of my little trip to Ross Lake Campground at Hope, BC. Pics of that event can be seen in the Real Life Stats and Pictures thread...
This was taken right after we left the campground...

These were taken outside and when we got in Minter Gardens.
Taken from a website describing Minter Gardens, it says:
"Minter Gardens is a 32-acre world-class show garden that inspires floral magic with 11 theme gardens, two great restaurants, Envision Conservatory & Conference Center and a gift & plant shop."
If you are interested you can check out their website at www.mintergardens.com

Oh Canada... this should be a standard for any high end garden show... in Canada...

The peacock pic at the right is a nice one...

There must be something about a waterfall that makes a garden scene look nice...

just to prove that I was actually there...

A curtain of water accentuates these sets of pillars and made this one my favourite garden themes.

I wonder if dwarves live in that little cottage up in the hill...
Now there is a chinese themed area in the garden which caught my attention and my camera shots. They had on display these natural stone scluptures. Meh, just check the pics and you will see what I mean.

Last shot was of a bonsai i took a particular liking to...
And that basically wraps up the picture taking at the Minter Gardens, before we head out we grabbed a bite to eat, rested up a bit and then went home where I took a much needed nap. |

 | August 4-6 in Canada was the long weekend where Monday was deemed "Civic Holiday". Me and a friend had planned a get together to see "Cirque de Avaia" a while ago, and thought that this weekend would be the perfect opportunity. Cirque de Avaia is like a circus or acrobatics performance, think of Kaleido Star xD.

These images were taken from their website actually, you are probhibited from using any recording device during their performance so that's why I don't have any pictures of my own, you can visit their website: www.cirqueniagara.com.
I don't think I need to say that the performances were amazing, but they were! I was thoroughly impressed by their dances, balance, and strength! My favourite would be the first screencap, and it's not because the boys were cute (not entirely anyway...) >.>;
I did so much in just one day and while Cirque de Avaia was my favourite event of the weekend, I managed to do many other things.

Downtown Niagra was definitely a tourist-y place with plenty to do, there were many photo opportunities, I personally don't like to be in photos, but me and my friend managed to take 200 photos!
The "haunted house" you see here is not one of the bigger ones where you're walking completely in the dark, people touch/grab you, or you get stuck in secret compartments - no. This is a smaller one where they have a lot of scary looking displays that pop out suddenly. There are also unstable grounds. I will admit that I was scared, scared like a nad. I was holding my friends hand the whole time (poor girl), and I screamed like a 12-year-old girl (wait a minute...) the whole way. It didn't really help that there were people in front of us that constantly screamed ON PURPOSE just to make me scream. I found it amusing how there were doors halfway in labeled as "Chicken Doors", hehe.
The wax museum had a lot of very real looking stars and other famous folk. So much detail in everything, the colour of their eyes, their nails, they even have facial markings! That's me there (second picture, above) standing between Ron and Hermoine from Harry Potter. What I loved about this attraction was that there were plenty of photo opportunities. They had many rooms where they input sceneries with certain celebrities, and perhaps a chair for you to sit with them.
I think the most interesting building was the "Ripley's Believe it or Not" one, it had a lot of neat facts and achievements. The man born with two iris' in his each eye was particularly noteworthy. There was a complete art piece made of laundry lint, world's tallest man, plenty of animals with an unnatural number of body parts, and other neato things - too much to list!
Haha, I find this picture hilarious, we were trying to do Macaulay Culkin's "Home Alone" facial expression in front of this waxed Michael Jackson.

lol, this picture was fun.

Me and my friend Ashley in front of the Chapel that was at the back of the hotel we were staying at.

The famous Falls, except the last picture which is just a general picture of the more touristy street of Niagra at night.

All these displays are made entirely of lego! Woops, except the picture in the middle which is one of the "Believe it or Not Ripley's" building. Don't know if you can see the man there climbing the wire, but he was actually a moving dummy!
There was a lego exhibit, well, just one room, but this room was very impressive and very intricate. There was a lego Statue of Liberty, lego CN Tower, and lego Taj Mahal (first picture). I was blown away by the detail in Niagra Falls (look below), each blue and white is made by those tiny lego pieces... geez. Apparently the person that worked on this lego world spent around five years doing so, and it was all from his very own collection.

The tower you see there is not the CN tower, it's much much shorter; it has an elevator going up to it's revolving restaurant - a super expensive restaurant! Everything on their menu was over $50, I believe.
It was only a two day vacation, but it was so eventful. Me and my best friend Ashley also went through mazes, looked in the "Guiness World Record's" building, and took loads of pictures... it was tiring going home. The one thing that I wanted to do, but couldn't was to go swimming >:, the pool at the hotel closed at 11pm, and apparently, me and Ashley were late. Oh well, I got to see a cute waiter at their bistro~ :3. |

 | Well, as some of you know I was on the east coast for the past 3 weeks on vacation to meet up with friends and some old time A-S staffers and also Otakon.
I enjoyed meeting all of the A-S Staff and found it very cool to put faces to the people now all working toward our greater goal of ever improving A-S and I'd like to thank especially Frundock, Himitsu and IdNoe for taking time outta their busy lives to show me around their stomping grounds =)
Some things I noticed about anime in Eastern Canada, Toronto specifically:
1) Teenagers in Toronto go around the malls wearing Naruto head bands. No joke, I saw atleast 3 of them in and around Eaton Center/Downtown Toronto.
2) There's a cosplay store dedicated solely to cosplay in Pacific Center, Toronto.

Idee Fixe. Probably Canada's and maybe North America's first store dedicated only to cosplaying?
3) Toronto has lots of Otaku.

Yes... you know what it is.

Mr. IdNoe himself exposed! He's usually hiding in the background working quietly away along with darkangel on everyone's new releases.

Wow. Who is this geek with the maid?
The food is actually pretty decent and prices are fairly cheap too and you get the bonus of seeing maids run around.
I'm off to flying back to the West Coast now, until next time you wacky Easterners! |

 | I saw this official announcement while in Baltimore: Drew Carey has been tapped as the next host of the Price is Right!!
This news excites me for two reasons... first, he's an incredibly funny guy. I've always enjoyed watching him on the Drew Carey Show and Whose Line is it Anyway. And the second reason is prolly more important: the guy deserves it. Not only is he the nicest guy in all of Hollywood (who else takes their entire cast and crew to Hawaii as a celebration gift everytime they finish a season of filming?... plus he's a great tipper), but despite having had a rough life, he's managed to overcome. His career hit a lull after TDCS and Whose Line stopped airing, but now he's been given the most sought-after position in all of television.
Congratulations Drew, you earned it. I'll be watching... and my new goal for the year is to head out to Los Angeles to see a taping of the show.
"xenocrisis0153, come on down!!!!!" ^_____^ |
