HUAAAAAA! POW! SMASH! MADA MADA! SEKIHA TENKYOUKEN!
Christmas greetings from the Undefeated of the East! In place of the increasingly complacent Santa, I, Master Asia, have personally decided to deliver my justice to all the children of the world on this auspicious occasion. Been a good child this year? Did the dishes and study hard? Good for you; you get to LIVE and construct GUNPLA in my image! Didn't eat your vegetables and fight with your parents? I'll be delivering more than just coal for anyone that disrupts the delicate balance of nature, and you'll understand my feelings one way or another. After all, REAL MEN convey their emotions through their FISTS.
BWAHAHAHA! So fear the wrath feel the Christmas cheer that I, Master Asia, the former King of Hearts bring to your doorstep! Come, Fuunsaiki, be my legs!
Domon: Master! It was you, wasn't it Master!? Don't leave!
Quiet Domon, you are the man that I recognize as the King of Hearts! Stop your infantile sniveling and defeat me in a Gundam Match!
Some of you may remember my little blurb in my favorite movie staff pick about Lupin as I've got a friend that's quite into Lupin and consequently made me watch 20+ movies. Well we recently watched the Lupin III vs Detective Conan movie and I got to say it got me interested in Conan as I've never seen anything from his show before. Though the art style was weird as they kept both styles, though it became quite easy to guess which "show" each character belonged to. Somewhat predicable movie/TV special and while it wasn't quite what I expected it was a fun crossover. So because of that I'm off to watch 500+ eps of Conan.
Feel like I've been doing these kind of blog entrys for awhile now. Anyway not sure when it was announced but recently read that there's a Trigun movie in the making to be shown in 2010. And I'm extatic, more than the Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi movie I'm more psyched up for this. The original seiyuus will be comming back to voice their characters as Vash, Nicholas, Meryl and Milly.
Some of you may remember me saying that Saki wasn't something I was going to follow in the spring preview. However I've been reading a little here and there where people said it's been pretty good so now that it's over I decided to take a look at it.
I still feel like I enjoyed the manga more however since I stopped reading it around the time the anime aired so there were a lot of episodes that I couldn't compare. As such I have to say that to my surprise I enjoyed watching Saki more than I would have thought even though some of my main problems still remain though they will most likely also apply to the manga.
Saki as a character still doesn't impress me or carry as much presence as other main characters in sport animes. That said I felt that the other teams got more character development and at times more motivation than Saki herself which isn't a bad thing since it made it enjoyable as the characters were all likable. And as I'm guessing a second season will be on it's way sooner or later it seems that most of Sakis character development and story will unfold there as things gets more personal for her.
But it's a shame about Saki since more than her match with Amae I was eager to see how Mihoko's meeting with Hisa would go, as both were more interesting than Saki and so far Hisa is definitely my favorite character in the show. Even though I liked the focus on the other teams and their stories it's a shame that Saki and her team didn't get a bit more focus, more so since the anime is named after her. But as a plus I wasn't sure who I was going to root for at times since the opposing team would just have a great bunch of characters that you wanted to root for even though you knew how it'd end.
Overall despite certain flaws and overly flashy effects the anime is still quite enjoyable and hopefully Saki as a character will shape up in the next season if it comes out. And more Hisa is never wrong.
For all those that been talking about how they'd love to see the other paths get animated most of all Unlimited Blade Works. Well you guys are in luck as they're making a FSN movie based on that path in the game hitting the cinemas the 23rd of January 2010. Make sure you pester xeno about going and watching it so he can blog about it afterwards.
