Culture Festival
 | Every year, usually in October, schools hold their culture festivals. Classes vote on a project and have about a week or two to put something together. First step is deciding on what to do. |
Set-up for cafes includes transforming the room, putting up decorations... | ...and making uniforms, menus, props, and of course, the food. |
Aside from cafes, ideas include haunted houses, information displays, festival games, game shows, plays, and even music concerts. Each class decorates the area in front of their room to advertise their activity and then students take turns either running the event or preparing for the one big event they have planned.
Signs and ads everywhere. | Even cute mascots. |
More colorful signs... | ...and even more cute mascots! |
Let the festival begi... ummm, someone take that knife from her, please. | Festivals last all day and are bustling with activty from morning until late in the afternoon. |
Students and teachers are free to roam the campus. | Family members and neighbors are encouraged to attend. |
Outdoor food booths are quite common. It's good that most school campuses have large courtyards for just such an occassion. Hopefully the weather holds up nicely all day. | Selling foods like fried soba, fried octopus balls, and taiyaki pastry (those ones shaped like a fish, filled with sweet red bean filling) is a festival staple. |
This class at Shibazaki High has made an indoor booth. | Chocolate bananas are easy to make and easy to sell. |
Nothing is more popular than a maid cafe. | What'd I tell ya? |
Students work like crazy since the cafes are so popular. | No Rei, it's not about making profit. |
At your service!! | At your service, times three!!!! |
Momotsuki Academy 1-D's haunted house looks pretty darn scary. | Otome is dressed like a demon and Suzune is dressed like a vampire. |
The concert at North High's culture festival sent shockwaves throughout the anime world. | The "FALL Club" set up a game-room with games based on stuff falling. |
Some outdoor decor and advertising. | Students take a break from all the wandering. |
