Yakumo Tsukamoto

School Rumble/SR: Second Semester

zetlord
Shy, virtuous, elegant, compassionate and intelligent, she emits a air of mysterious silence around her. Overcoming any adversity with her overwhelming sense of peace and calm, she definitely deserves a vote.

darksimperson01
An unusual choice for someone like myself, but Yakumo just adds a whole layer of depth to this series that it may not necessarily need. Fending off those who like her is something that allows me to identify with her as well.

Major Motoko Kusanagi

Ghost in the Shell/GITS: Standalone Complex/GITS:SAC2ndGiG/GITS: Solid State Society

Faraz
The superior soldier, the perfect leader, and a wizard class hacker, all neatly packaged inside the most gorgeously sculpted cybernetic body. As the backbone of Section 9, Major Motoko Kusanagi is relentless in her pursuit of the enemy; always managing to come out on top even in the face of impossible odds. Not quite a Tsundere but she has shown us glimpses of her feminine side on more than one occasion; just enough for the audience to wonder what else could be going on inside her shell.

WolfWood37
One of the most in-depth and complex characters to ever be shown in anime or television in general, and portrayed beautifully by both her American and Japanese actresses make Motoko Kusanagi one of the best characters of all time.

Kakashi Hatake

Naruto series

Faraz
Only a few characters can be unbelievably bad-ass in one scene and provide total comic relief in the next one, but Kakashi can easily pull-off this seemingly impossible task. Being one of the more powerful ninjas from his village and one of the only three ninjas with a Sharingan only adds to his magnetic charisma.

carnij
Always laid back, but never at a loss for anything. Cool, collected, and a little mysterious. The perfect teacher, and an even better leader.

Eri Sawachika

School Rumble/SR: Second Semester

Cavalier
Tsundere or not tsundere? That is the question~! At times she can seem like the typical tsundere girl, but other times she's a much deeper character than anyone could have imagined, She's probably one of the best, if not THE best female character I've ever had the honor of seeing. Her behavior, personality, and overall beauty have left me reeling in fanboyish revelry on more than one occasion. What really gets me is how much she changes throughout the story, from typical cookie cutter snobby rich girl to someone who you can really identify with and care about.

pavyisku
A girl who can be a pain in the ass and a female dog simultaneously, but has a soft heart underneath it all. Eri is an elegant girl who anyone could easily fall in love with. It's just fun watching the progression of her and Harima together and if I were to describe their relationship as an ice cream flavor, it would be "Rocky Road."

Sakura Kinomoto

Cardcaptor Sakura

jackie__chow
Sakura is soooo kawaii! She's a cheerful girl who makes friends with all the people around her, including a grouchy transfer student (nudge Syaoran), and doesn't give up easily in the face of hardship. She takes responsibility for what she does and is willing to help everyone with their problems. Also, she looks adorable in all the cardcaptor costumes, and IMO is really pretty.

thegreatsaiya
One of the cutest anime characters I've ever seen. Bumbly, yet elegant. Very MOE!!!

Toushiro Hitsugaya

Bleach series

Mrman15
How many kids do you know that have an entire squad of men at their disposal, are the incarnation of a heavenly guardian that only comes around once every several centuries, can summon a gigantic ice dragon, and are a certifiable geniuses?

Laughingman
This little guy is badass. He's so young, yet his skills are so great and his sword is amazing. I love ice skills. His bankai, I say, is the best out off all the captains. Maybe not the 1st captain's, but thats only because I haven't seen it.

Saito Hiraga

Zero no Tsukaima series

riceboba
He's caring when he needs to be. Beat up when he needs to be. But also abused when he doesn't need to be.

holyman282
One of my favorite characters in anime.. I loved Saito from season one, as he displayed a laid back attitude, not to mention his jokes on Louise, and he also has a serious and caring side. His attitude towards war and sacrifice is really noble and the last episode of the second season made me love him even more. Saito is one cool character that portrays a serious, cool protagonist and yet still has a sense of humor.

Archer

Fate/stay Night

bigdave
It's Archer, the precedence of all things GAR! Archer is a very realistic hero. He isn't overpowering like Berserker/Gilgamesh/Saber. All he has are his powers of duplication. He has a suave~ness written all over him. In whatever he does, and even against overwhelming powers, he still stood up and put on a nonchalant attitude.

bilyar
That one episode where he fights Berserker almost single-handedly made me nominate him, but there are other factors as to why he is a memorable character. He is an intriguing character because he seems to be familiar with all the characters although nobody knows him. It's in the middle of the series where it is implied who he really is, although it never was explained clearly. It added a mysterious aura to Archer.

Shinobu Morita

Honey & Clover series

spermbank-tycoon
His random personality reminds everyone a small part of themselves. A genius or an idiot? Whatever, underneath his selfishness are a level of understanding and a caring nature that are above normal comprehension. He does what he wants with his life, that's how everyone would like to live.

Dan0989
At first Morita seems like he has no worries. And even though he mysteriously comes home after long periods of time with a wad of cash in his back pocket, you still think you have his character figured out pretty fast. But there is much more to this guy than some crazy goof off. He brings so much to H&C and is one of the best characters in all time.

Kira Yamato

Gundam SEED series

Mrman15
Peace-loving, yet born with heightened senses, superior mind and body, Kira is constantly being thrown into what he hates most: Fighting. Constantly given the choice between letting those he cares about die or fighting and possibly killing others, Kira is constantly forced to make choices many of us hope we never have to make. Yet despite that, he always manages to come through in the end. On top of that, throughout the series he continues to stay true to his morals in situations where most give in to the hate and despair that comes along with war, and still believes that fighting is wrong.

Trisoft7000
His kind heart and strong willed belief in not wanting to be a mass murderer (like most gundam people) make him THE BEST. Although he has to skills to PWN all, he eventually only uses want is needed. Just love him.

Mikuru Asahina

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

razorbubble
She's almost the ideal "moe" character. Cute, clumsy, busty, and always the one getting picked and placed in compromising positions.

Kumo
The greatest loli? Not to me! Asahina Mikulu is one of those personas who only think about others. Who couldn't make a friend with her? I don't even need to mention about costumes, right. But everybody remembers the dancing scene in the ending. Mikuru-chin just danced her way to our hearts. The greatest endings in the history of anime.

Roronoa Zoro

One Piece series

Farael
The second One Piece character I voted for (just milliseconds away from Luffy, first place in my opinion) is of course Roronoa Zoro. Like Luffy and most of the other important One Piece staff, he is just a package filled with story, epic action and drama just waiting to be fully exploited by whoever animates him. This versatility in characteristics make Zoro definitely worthy of a place among the 'golden boys' in anime world.

taisetsu
Because Zoro-centered episodes are often interesting, and because I find the three sword thing original. Of course that's applauding more on the author's part.

Kisuke Urahara

Bleach series

Laughingman107
Urahara Kisuke is awesome because he is very powerful and mysterious, while being very amusing at the same time. He is incredibly intelligent and even founded the Technological Bureau of Development in Soul Society. Also, according to Aizen himself, Urahara has at least twice the power of the average captain. Urahara rarely acts serious, like with the "dying message" and having Ichigo's training be against a little girl. Urahara is a very strange character but an awesome one.

jwillzales
Urahara's definitely a good choice. He's sneaky, wise, smart, and has lots and lots of tricks up his sleeve.

Kenpachi Zaraki

Bleach series

xllYllx
Simply a badass. Kenpachi enjoys fighting and lives for it. Here is a man who truly knows how to live life to the utmost: by actively pursuing what makes him happy, and overcoming with absurd power anything that would prevent him from enjoying himself.

lexinator
BEST CHARACTER OF ALL TIME! IMO. Total lack of fear of death, this character lives for only one thing: battling opponents that are stronger than he is. Despite his almost psychotic nature, there lies a complexity to his character and philosophy that is clearer than any ambition. He is the best example of what can be achieved by believing in one's own power.

Tsukasa Nishino

Ichigo 100% + OVAs

wraith7424
A cutie and winning lady in what is, in my opinion, the greatest romance anime/manga in existence. Forget those losers that hated the ending, I thought the ending was awesome. I was getting sick and tired of those cliche animes where the main squeeze is so obvious it detracts from the story, it was great to see this one be different... and I like Tsukasa more than what's-her-name.

thenewguy07
Her forwardness, willingness to help, and just overall positive attitude make Nishino my favorite character of this series.

Haruko Haruhara

F.L.C.L.

Kokuou-Kunai
The energetic, enigmatic, space bunny Haruko. Theres so much amazing about her as a character study and as a person that its hard to stay coherent (she has that effect on people). As a character she's amazing and mind-boggling in her mysterious and eccentric mannerisms that display her switch-blade personality. As a person, shes a sexy, bass-playing, cat talking, vespa-driving crazy person who has always manages to brighten up my day when I decide to watch FLCL.

jonileus
I don't think I have ever seen a better introduction scene than appearing out of nowhere, driving over the main character with a scooter, giving him CPR and hitting him with a guitar after he wakes up. Instant classic. The voice actress is also great. A perfect fit for an eccentric nutjob.

C.C.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

NatureDragon
I love C.C. because she is extremely cute with her cold/cool expressions. The different ways that she dressed up are also so bubbly and lovable. Her mysterious background and the way she behaves (like hugging Lelouch's soft toys, wanting to eat the giant pizza, etc.) make her even more appealing. Her ability to regenerate herself (which makes her unkillable) adds on to her coolness. She is also very selfless in many ways though she has suffered so much in the past.

Uruz-7
Why is C.C. helping Lelouch? How old is she? What is her real name? This pizza-loving witch is full of mysteries but if there is one thing I know for sure, it's that she is the perfect companion to Lelouch, especially when she makes sarcastic yet playful comments just to annoy him. I like C.C. as much as I like Lelouch, and it doesn't hurt that she looks really cute when hugging her Cheese-kun.
