Macross Frontier

December * ?? Episodes * Studio Nue/Satelight

After watching the first episode I was amazed at the high quality animation and action of just the first episode..doh I wish they would release the second one already but I will nominate this one =)

mint420
They've only showed one episode but, man, I'm feeling this anime already. Just had to vote for this one.

58th Place: 109pts

Mononoke

July * 12 Episodes * Toei Animation

I doubt as many people liked this show as much as I did. The art style was a big turn off for many. But the character of the Medicine Seller was a great continuation from the Summer Horror Tales series he came from. Great props to the Japanese voice actor who made the character stand out.

Shroomman
Coolness. From the visual style, to the medicine seller himself, to the ghosts and demons that appear (well... most of them anyway; especially umibouzu). It does get repetitive with most stories being structured roughly the same, but it's not nearly enough to make it tiresome. Nice storytelling, a healthy dose of folklore, stunning looks and an unusually awesome protagonist - just listen to how he talks! - makes Mononoke a winner.

57th Place: 111pts

Shakugan no Shana: Movie

April * 1 Movie * J.C. Staff

shiya387
For a remake of the first 6 eps of season 1, I thought it was pretty good. I almost prefered it! That's how good it was! The differences in this movie from the orginal series made for a very epic battle. Thumbs up on this side.

penk
Putting aside the fact that this movie is a recap of The Hunter arc, this movie is rather well made... The action scenes are awesome and the released Alastor kinda reminds me of Balrog from LOTR...fly you fools!!

56th Place: 121pts

Kodomo no Jikan

October * 12 Episodes * Studio Barcelona

Link_Soul
Oh my GOD! The ecchi-ness of this anime is amazing. Here you have elementary school girls messing with their teacher. To hear such perverted words from a little girl is like so damn funny! An anime full of messages, a hidden past and comedy! This is one hell of an anime you really must see!

This is no Azumanga Daioh... here they have managed to make cute characters seem somehow more adorable by their frankness, often scary frankness. a great and laugh filled story.

55th Place: 129pts

Dragonaut - The Resonance

October * 25 Episodes * Gonzo

Valor
One really special and good anime, with many interesting characters as well with and also with good action in it. I like dragons hehe, and this anime shows me a well drawn dragon "machines" with a lot of colors! A good anime which I needed to vote for.

Yami_Leto
A good story line to this series. The only issue I would have is that the science behind it has yet to be explained, by which I mean the ability for a dragon to be hidden in human form, then suddenly change back to a full dragon easily 20x bigger than the human form.

53rd Place (2-way tie): 142pts

Shugo Chara

October * 51 Episodes * Satelight

THIS ANIME IS JUST AMAZING! it's funny, romantic, and yet serious all at the same time. It has a good life lesson in the background, and, furthermore, one just can't stop watching and re-watching the sepisodes and the manga! Also, it has one of the best couples I have ever seen! Amu and Ikuto! Amuto forever!

aimichan
This anime is very cute with the many different Charas and the unique changes they make when combined with their human counterparts. Afterall, everyone has probably wondered what it would be like to be their dream person. This anime does that for us, giving us a unique magic-girl story.

Ah! My Goddess - Tatakau Tsubasa

December * 2 Episodes * Anime International Company, Inc.

Jinny
Hilarious and action packed. Quality music and animation. Totally mesmerizing. Though its another one of those typical harem type situations, it has a tendency to give you a surprise kick up the backside.

Ah My Goddess is the anime that start me looking for and watching anime. I watch anime now over all other media. The story line of this anime is still as great today as the first and the art work even better.

52nd Place: 146pts

Tales of Symphonia

June * 4 Episodes * Ufotable

Well, what can I say? I really enjoyed it but it doesn't match the game at all. If you haven't played the game, you can't grasp the story that well. But it's still really nice. Good animation, good soundtrack, well made characters but poor story development. It's your turn to chose if you want to watch it or not!

R1CK_D0M
this anime gets into the top five automatically for being based off of my favorite vg of all time, ever. The actual anime was really good, too, though the actual series was a bit short and stopped right as they got to the good part (tethe'alla). It was really nice watching sheena pull off a pyre seal in anime form, though...

51st Place: 149pts

Ghost Hound

October * 22 Episodes * Production I.G.

I've been looking for a psychological series to watch lately, and Ghost Hound took it one step farther by being psychological, and incorporating many aspects of psychology and philosophy into the show itself. The staff involved with this show knows just which buttons to push to unnerve and weird out the audience. As my only choice in this voting that hasn't fully finished airing yet, its insight into human nature has convinced me to vote, even though I do not yet know how the series ends. Which is something I do not take lightly.

Masamune Shirow is like Stephen King: the more he stays away, the better is the work. I love GITS and other Shirow works, but sometimes the excessive "explanations" and "techno babble" are pretentious at best, and zap the life of the story or create confusion at worst. Ghost Hound, however, does not have that problem. The techno talk (in this case frontier neuro-psychological research) is still there but kept to a minimum and only when necessary. Ghost Hound is but just a mystery, but it also strives for horror, which is a tall order for anime. The visual nature of anime simply does not lend itself to horror. However, between the directors and Konaka Chiaki, who's one of the most gifted script writers working in anime today, the show actually gave me the creeps several times, which is no small achievement even in live action films. Beyond the basic premise, the story is also very original. The lack of fan service familiar to Masmune Shirow fans is actually a plus here, a big plus. Any such inclusion would have taken away both story and intent. Like I say, there's very little Shirow on the surface of this show. Just an excellent entry for 2007. Love it!
