Honestly I'm somewhat disappointed with this movie as they compromise 3 games into a 1½ hour long movie they had to cut out a lot of the story. It's not that the direction is bad but unless you've either seen .hack//ROOTS or played the games the characters will feel really shallow and without substance. Not to mention that certain things makes absolutely no sense at all unless you played the games. The action scenes were mostly short which is sad because I was hoping for some action close to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children but they all fall short. What it does have in common with FF7AC is that it's geared more towards fans of the series. On the other hand the parody mode that was included is quite hilarious.
If you don't want to bother playing the game and want to know the general outline of the plot look no further even though a lot was cut some of the main points are here.
If you haven't played the game and don't care about the plot of the games I don't recommend this as several things makes no sense and it's heavily aimed towards fans of the .hack series.
If you played the games it can be interesting to watch the movie adaption which will give a little bit more depth and substance to the whole HaseoxAtoli. It also gives you a hint of what may come in the future of .hack.

Not sure about this one. On the one hand, it has great animation and good production values. And the story so far is interesting, and despite the opportunity, not overdone. However, I admit that while watching it, this show doesn't really connect with me. I end up picking out the problems and plotholes rather than enjoying the story.
Recommendation: Moderate

Interesting first couple of episodes. Much different, and better then what I was expecting when I first read about this show. It's surprisingly well done with a fascinating story thus far. About a guy drawn against his will into a past era. Though, depending on the storyline, I may or may not continue this one, thus far it looks very good.

Three young men are drafted into a secret tournament to fight against other teams with an impossibly large sum of money waiting for them if they happen to win. But will these three individual, who have very little in common, be able to work as a team and reach the prize, or will they lose their lives playing the game?
The idea for this show is rather unique and interesting. After three episodes I also feel that the tournament might not be the main focus of the show and our protagonists might eventually be pitted against the mysterious figures running the games. Unfortunately so far the potential for this show far outweighs what has been delivered. The animation (especially when it comes to action scenes) is rather poor and none of the main characters (save for a policewoman pursuing our team) has been that interesting. But as mentioned before the story is entertaining so I’ll keep watching it for now.
edit: After some digging I confirmed that for now, only the first three episodes have been scheduled for release which is unbelievably idiotic since there's no sense of closure what-so-ever. If they stick with three episodes only, then my recommendation goes from 'Mild' to 'Abysmal'. So for now, don't bother with this show unless more episodes are announced/released.
Recommendation: Abysmal (Mild if they continue it)

Probably the most anticipated anime to hit the tv this spring, at last the continuation of what has to be the biggest cliffhanger endings I've seen. Unfortunately it hasn't quite lived up to my expectations yet, the one thing that bothered me the most was that they pretty much reseted everything in order to mimic the first season. While it has it's own merits I find that it lack the punch that would push you to the edge of your seat. Since most have already seen the first season certain events does not come as a surprise. But even so it's still a great watch that wrapped and answered the giant cliffhanger quite fast instead of dragging it on. If you've seen the first season then the chances are high that you've already started watching this however if you haven't seen the first season I would not recommend this to you. The show assumes that you already seen the first season for if you haven't you won't have the base information too really understand what's going on and why certain characters act like they do.
If you seen the first season and liked it, it's a must (Which is just crazy since you probably already picked it up in that case)
If you haven't seen the first season you should stay clear until you've seen the first season.

Season two of Code Geass is probably the most anticipated spring show. I will admit that I was slightly disappointed with the first episode, since amnesia is usually the most commonly used “get out of jail free card writers employ when they corner themselves with massive cliff-hangers, similar to season one’s ending. However episodes two and three more than made up for this and I am now thoroughly excited for the rest of the season. A lot of important questions have been answered and two of the newly introduced characters have already been very impressive. Episode four can’t be released fast enough.
Recommendation: Very High

A year has passed since the failed coup by the Order of the Black Knights. Britianna strengthens their control over Area 11 (formerly Japan) and the citizens suffer more abuse and discrimination than ever. Amiss the despair, Zero rises again; the legend continues!
While the first episode lacked the impact that I expected, the subsequent episodes were more than adequate in bringing out the dramatic flair and exhilarating atmosphere that I've come to expect. I expected more direct confrontation with the Emperor in the first episode but instead, witnessed a regression back into the student life - even after climatic build-up of the first season. That's not to say however, that it was a poor choice; the execution was brilliant. The second season raised questions and curtly answered them while establishing series-long plot mysteries for the future.
Having Lelouch live out his double-life is interesting, and he kept his shroud of mystery. The characters retain their unique, distinct and somewhat flawed personalities while changing gradually as they overcome obstacles, forming well-developed characters.
While the 'amnesia' was criticized for lack of originality, its execution was flawless. I highly recommend watching Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2.

Whatever anyone else says about this show, I like a good mystery, and this one is definitely turning out to be interesting. A girl who occasionally turns to crystal, has apparently escaped from the organization that did this to her. Unfortunately she has lost her memory. Fortunately though, she makes friends with a guy who runs a detective agency, and the adventures begin. No idea how things will go from here, but I'm looking forward to finding out.
