Vampire Knight
Synopsis
Cross Academy's students are divided in two kinds. Those of the day class, and those of the night class. The separation is necessary because those of the day are normal students... while those of the night are, secretly, vampires.
In order to maintain a peaceful coexistence, the school's day prefects Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryuu have the very important responsibility of keeping both classes separate. However, both of them have very different views regarding their non-human companions. Yuki hopes for a peaceful coexistence with them, while Zero hates them with all his heart... and not everything about Yuki, Zero, and their relations with the Night Class is quite as simple as it may initially appear.

I haven't seen many vampire-themed anime myself, though I know the anime world is chock full of them. Most of the ones I've seen star cute gothic lolitas (Tsukiyomi Moon Phase, Karin), so trying out something like Vampire Knight is a step in a new direction for me. I enjoy the premise of a vampire school that shares a facility with a regular school. It combines those elements of school-daze series, but just lightly. This series, despite a scattering of light comedy here and there, is very serious. The majority of the major players is made up of guys, but the lead female, school prefect Yuuki, is charming and enchanting in her own way. She reminds me a lot of Honoka from The Third. In its entirity, the cast consists of very dark characters with unclear objectives. They give hint of wanting to rebel against all that the school instills upon them, yet they obey their Dorm Leader's every word with utmost respect.
The artwork is just alright. A greater deal of each episode takes place at night, so the dark shadows don't create many opportunities for the visuals to really, ahem, shine. I can appreciate the character-design though I don't gravitate toward male characters, so the most I can do is appreciate the few female characters that are featured. I don't think female viewers will be complaining, however. The music is nothing extraordinary. I enjoy the opening but don't really care much for the ending. In-episode soundtrack hasn't been anything worth taking note of.
I am enjoying the series thus far, as it's really something new for me. It's a serious show that combines charm school drama and fantasy action, however it's not really anything ground-breaking new. Fans of vampire or any evil-lurking demon series may enjoy this, but to those hardcore anime fans, this probably isn't anything worth your time.

There is no shortage of vampire themed anime and Vampire Knight has so far failed to really catch my attention. A school environment isn’t the usual setting for a vampire story but then again, there is no shortage of school themed anime either so I can’t really call this show inventive for this choice. I do like the show’s main character, Yuki, and I really hope that she isn’t just turned into a poppet character, being tossed around by the other characters and for the sake of the story. The character design is nice and the story does show a sliver of potential. I might watch it if I had the spare time but with so many better shows out there right now I can’t really give it a high rating.

What do you do when you start turning into the one thing you despise the most? Well to answer the question you get an anime that's intriguing. Although it just started several questions has already surfaced and the pacing of the story is fast enough to make you feel that it's getting somewhere. I find myself watching and waiting for the disaster to strike as it feels to be mere moments away.

This show about a gender switching protector is unique in my memory. I can't recall ever seeing a show where the main character freely changed gender at will, and thought nothing of doing so. What would make this even better, is if this demon type tried romancing someone. Ok, thats just my dark fantasy for this show. Enjoying it so far, though we'll see how the story goes.

Much like most of the anime I started watching this season, I picked up what I thought would be good based on the synopses published in our Upcoming Anime thread. I grabbed the first two episodes of Wagaya just because I like a good shrine-maiden tale, and a story that adds in animal-transforming protectors, though done countless times before, seemed like something I'd be willing to give a chance. Though I'm so far not too impressed with the main character, Kuu-san, who goes from fox to older-girl to younger-girl to older-guy and back-and-forth, the supporting cast seems like it could provide some quality entertainment over the next few weeks, particularly the adorable family sentinel, Kou-san. Kuu-san, Kou-san, Kuu-san, Kou-san... oh man.
The art is pretty good, including the character design, although Kuu-san in her fox-form and older-girl form seems quite bland. And don't even mention the nightmare-inducing in-between form. Hopefully that will just stay a glitch for the first episodes as he/she/it gets used to being in human-form. A human with a fox ears = cute. A human with a fox face = not so cute.
The series, like many shrine-service anime (Kamichu and Kanazuki no Miko, to name a few), has an good mix of Eastern ancient-culture and Western modern-culture. This serves as good fodder for some light comedy, like when Kuu mistakes the tv weathergirl as being an intruding spirit. The series is just kicking off, but so far I'm enjoying it. This will be one of the few I will continue to follow as the season pushes on.
Recommendation: Mildly positive

I enjoyed the first season of xxxHolic, and if you haven't watched seen that one, I recommend you pass on this until you do. Its good, particularly for fans of the series. However certain things always bugged me in the first one, and the second is just emphasizing them. I'll keep watching though, just hope things improve.

Reminiscing the fond memories I had of the first season, the second started off in the same fashion as I remembered it - Watanuki becomes entangled in a magical situation where the resolution has a twist, but teaches Watanuki an important lesson, usually bringing about a change in perspective.
The anime follows closely off of it's manga counterpart and I thoroughly enjoy watching the adventures (misadventures?) of Watanuki and pals.

In the near future Espers are trained from childhood to help protect the world from danger. Such a cliché synopsis and there are truly only two words to describe this show: absolutely ridiculous. However, when something ridiculous is actually meant to be ridiculous, it becomes rather fun to watch.
The look of the show is cheap and it makes you feel like you’re watching a four year old anime (heck, there’s stuff from four years ago that look better) and I don’t see anything resembling a solid plot in the future of this anime. This is one of those guilty-pleasure shows that you watch for some laughs and giggles and forget about it when it’s done. Still as mentioned before, it’s fun to watch and the comedy kinda works.

Magical girls, without the Henshin scenes, that's what this show is about. Super-powered little girls being called upon to save the world... or at least their little corner of it. The girls themselves are particularly interesting. Especially amusing is Kaoru, who acts like a middle aged old man with her interest in pretty young girls and porn. Not really sure where this is going, but am enjoying it so far.
